  1. Now THOSE are proper gorg! I seriously love those, they are just fantabulous, well done you. Anjie,x.
  2. THAT is exactly what I was thinking. I might buy a small bottle and see. Thanks for your reply. Anjie,x.
  3. LOL yes you must resist! Don't listen to that little devil sitting on your shoulder saying 'pull the candle, pull it out NOW'. I'm going to leave mine well alone until I get up in the morning. But, damn, I dream about candles when I make them before I go to bed......just HOW SAD is that?!?! *rofl*. I'm trying a single colour this time because I got to thinking that I was trying to run before I could walk, so am starting nice and simple and uncomplicated (i hope!), then when i've mastered these i'll move on to stripes Good luck with yours Sally, i'd love to see some pics of the result of your efforts. If you wouldn't mind Anjie,x.
  4. LOL fank you very muchly I gonna leave it alone now Anjie,x.
  5. I have just poured another rustic, well attempting one again anyway. I poured into a cold metal mould with the wax temp just below 150. I'm trying a single colour candle this time so fingers crossed. What I would like to know is do I put the mould in the fridge once it has cooled back down a bit? Or just cool at room temp? Thanks in advance. Anjie,x.
  6. Does anyone on here remember the candle shops called Wax Lyrical? I'm not sure if they were just UK based or in the States too. I used to buy candles for my husband from their Feng Shui 'Metal' range - he absolutely loved the smell and always had them burning in his house before he moved in with me. So that smell kind of holds good memories for us from when we were first dating. The shops closed down ages ago, and I would really love to make him some candles in this fragrance. I have been hunting high and low for any wax lyrical metal fragrance oil that may still be floating around somewhere - with no luck - until a google search brought up some 'Feng Shui Metal' FO in America. My question is this ..... is it likely to be the same smell? What I am getting at is, if you buy cinnamon FO it smells of cinnamon, vanilla of vanilla etc... is this gonna be the same with Metal or are there variations on this do you think??? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I am full of them LOL. Anjie,x.
  7. Thanks! Well.....:embarasse .....I made my first 'rustic'!! LOL. Lets just say that it didn't exactly turn out how i wanted it too hahahaha. It's pants, to say the least!! First of all I got impatient and pulled the wick right out if it (oooooops), then had trouble getting out of the mould even though it was loose and would move back and forth in the mould. Got it out eventually and hubby looked at it and said 'NICE!'. ROFL it was a very sarcastic NICE though Am i bovered??? Its not at all rustic! It's smooth and shiny. Kind of funky lookin Oh well, it gives me a reason to have another go tomorrow Thanks for your comments and advice, i'm gonna need a lot more i can tell HAHA. Anjie,x. p.s. what's the best temp. to pour the wax at for rustics?
  8. When you guys make your rustics how do you go about getting the stripes right? What I mean is, do you plan it out before you do it? On paper? Or do you just get to know what you are doing eventually? This is soo much fun My metal moulds arrived from the States this morning and I am attempting my first rustic tonight I'm soo excited hehe. Anjie,x.
  9. Thank you Starless! You asked the question I was about to ask myself :highfive: I was also wondering if you can make rustics in polycarbonate moulds or does it HAVE to be metal to get that rustic effect? God I love those rustics that I see on here!!! That is my goal....to make rustics like you guys do Anjie,x.
  10. LOL ok, ok. Was just a thought . I'm new to all this and am learning quick I can tell ya. I'll chuck the old wax, but I will reuse the containers because I am having an absolute nightmare time trying to find any at a reasonable price here. Thanks for all your comments. Anjie,x.
  11. Hi again. My Mum, being the insane horder that she is :rolleyes2, opened a cupboard door today to reveal a bag of old candlewax and countless glass jars and containers with bits of old wax still in the bottom!!! When I laughed and her and asked her 'Mum, WHY??' she looked sheepish and said she was intending to melt them down and make new candles, but still doesn't know how to make a candle!! Well....I laughed until tears streamed down my face, but I guess you had to be there Anyways, what i would like to know is CAN these be melted down and reused? Parts of the wax are pretty yuk and blackened with bits of matches stuck in them LOL, but is there a way of melting it down and cleaning it up? Getting the debris out of the melted wax? Then I can make her some new candles so she can start collecting wax again Thanks for your help, if you can help?? Anjie,x.

  13. I know this is an old thread but I am working my way through all of the old stuff, and feel like crying - ALL of your candles are just so so so...whats the word? Gorgeous, spectacular, stunning! Just damn professional! Better than professional!! Why oh why can't my crappy candles look like that ROFL. And i mean ALL as is everybody who posts pics on this forum, not just in this thread. But please please please tell me how you get your colours to blend so perfectly where they meet! If i attempt a 2 colour candle I get a defined line where the colours change Anjie,x.
