  1. Forrest,

I've noticed the same thing.  When I moved I uncovered a few candles I made over 10 years ago and clearly noted right on the candle that the HT was unacceptable, well same thing, threw like crazy. (Is it a little crazy that I kept it that long?)  Now it was in a covered jar and stored in the box that the glass comes in always in a cool place.  IDK that this  would be across the board but I think you're absolutely right about cure times and HT with soy wax anyway.

KK I know the jar your talking about and I did order a long time ago from them and it is the same exact jar.   It came with the silver lid, right?

C&S is a lot closer to me that Gen Wax in Cal.   Though the shipping was really the same...but like said, is the same jar.

Yes you could buy the silver lids, black lids or the plastic clear lids that fit that tumbler.  I'm in Calif so for me it was a no brainer!

This is a huge reason I've tried to go paperless at my house.  The cartridges are criminally priced.  The last printer I bought, they had the printer and cartridges programmed to expire a year after manufacture, no matter how much ink was left in them.  The printer had sat on the shelf for months before I bought it, and then stopped working soon after I set it up and started using it because that year had been reached.  I've refused to buy another HP product since then, but they're all horrible rip-offs anyway.  Back to the decoupage idea...

yeah if this is just for yourself and you're not selling just be creative with pens, markers & decoupage!  I'm old school so I still love decoupage, Mod Podge!

  4. I should be shocked but I'm not.  Unfortunately I see this all the time, even huge companies have candles that burn way too hot, wicks way too big and I have to wonder if they test.  Everyone thinks it's just what you said melt add fo and plop in a wick.  I'm very thankful when I started I had a mentor and shortly after I found some great candle groups online including this one.  I guess she will learn the hard way or just get lucky and nothing will ever happen to her.

  5. Absolutely vapors from Natural oils can be harmful as well.  I've had the pleasure of touring 2 different EO plants where they make distillates, b & b and bottle Essential Oils.  Every person working in closed rooms has on a respirator, goggles and gloves.  Those medical masks will not work, they will keep you from actually inhaling particulates but the smell will still be there and can still trigger headaches.  I learned the hard way!

  6. I've been using RE's Satsuma and Salty Sea (?) not positive on that name.  Lemon I haven't used in a long time, want to say it was Candle Science when I had it and I blended it with Olive Leaf (WSP)  that I didn't like alone but that blend screams Italy, lol.

That is very interesting, I'll certainly try it. I wonder if it will inhibit the HTPs self-trimming  quality.

It has never affected any of the self trimming wicks I've used.  All you're doing by twisting is forcing it to burn all the way around the candle, it really works great on those flat buggers that want to lean one way.
