  1. I personally like the tealight warmers because I know that after 4 hours the tealight goes out. I am one of those who has accidentally left on the electric burner all day...of course, it was fine because it was electric but I don't like doing that. I know of someone who has a weekend or "country house" and put the electric warmer on one weekend and accidentally left in on for the week. When she returned, thank god, it was fine but the house reeked of overcooked wax. Eve
  2. Nectarine Honey Blossom from Fragrances By Design Eve
  3. I know that IGI 4627 is the great thrower...but, has anyone found that there are some scents that just won't throw well in this wax? I use this wax with 6 oz jars (appx 2.5 diameter) and Eco 8 wicks (sometimes RRD 47). Also fragrance load is always atleast 10% How does changing wick type improve throw? Please explain? Eve
  4. Target has 100 pack for $3.99 plus tax
  5. They called me Evie when I was a kid.
  6. I put those in the mail today. I would appreciate it if you let me know what you think of my tart. thanks Eve
  7. I wanted to make sure that I recieved them before I posted. These warmers are beautiful. They are very big and heavy...about a pound each. I had previously bought 10 of them at the dollar store and had subsequently tried to track them down thru manufacturer. When I did finally find the manufacturer, I was informed that I needed tax id to order them. Perhaps those of you with tax I D might try manufacturer (HS Candle, Inc.) I then did a google search of the item number and found them on favorcentral.com. A set of four for $5. I ordered 80 (20 sets of four) on Monday and recieved them fedex today. The price was $100 and $18 shipping, for a total of $1.46/ea delivered. I recieved 82 and four were broken, hence I wound up with 78 warmers. I haven't decided if I am going to complain for a $3 refund. I am attaching link of the item (OB-120). http://www.favorscentral.com/servlet/Detail?no=310 Another style which I have seen in person is OB-114. These are cute but smaller. They do accomodate my small 2.25" tart but I don't know if they would accomodate a yankee tart. The OB 120, however, will accomodate any size tart If you have any ques, please feel free to ask. Eve
  8. Hi Could some of the experienced members please set forth a "checklist" of things one must have in place to start of a candle or bath and body business (ie accountant, insurance, etc.) If the necessary tasks could even be put in order they must be done/accomplished, that would be even better. If approximate costs could be included, that would be even better. Hope that's not asking too much. tia Eve
  9. Sure. What do I do? Put a cottonball with oil in a plastic bag? I have the App Cobbler in oil. But the Hot apple Pie I used it all, I could send you a tart or a little piece of one? Eve
  10. Here's what I've tried and they were both amazing!! FOH Apple Cobbler-It smells like apple, crust, butter, etc...It is an amazing bakery apple scent with a strong throw Aroma Haven Hot Apple Pie (Cher Mark)-It smells like apple and cinnamon, I dont smell crust...it is an amazing clean apple cinnamon scent with a strong throw
  11. I don't use soy but the all of the oils I tried were strong throwers regardless of whether I liked the scent or not. My personal favorites were: Cucumber Melon (clean; reminds me of Vict Secret's old version) Honeysuckle Jasmine (reminds me of Jo Malone version) Hansel/Gretel's House (reminds me of baking cookies) Frankinsense and Mhyrr (reminds me of Shalimar parfum) hth eve
  12. Okay...I get that....So maybe the "wax" smell is really a chemical smell from too much oil?....It has been suggested to me to lower my % of fo and I have been fighting that idea...so maybe (reluctantly) I will have to try lowering to 10% (bec I know that there is no chem smell in the tarts done at 10%.... ...but, the 6 oz candle was in a bedroom.... what is confusing to me is how come the tart is so powerful at 10%? It is definitely more powerful than the six oz jar(12% oil) and it is a .8 oz tart. Could this be because the .8 oz tart melts completely vs. the melt pool in the 2.75 diameter of the jar? In other words, is the melt "pool" of the tart, in fact, larger (stronger) than a jar which has a diameter of 2.75"? I hope that I am being clear. thanks again Eve
  13. I am using the oil Coco Beach Baby. It is an awsome summer coconut peach scent. I made tarts using igi 4786 at 10% and they knock you out as soon as you walk in the door. They are powerful. I made 6 oz jar (salsa type, 2.75 diameter), used igi 4627 at 12%, used eco wick 8. The candle burns beautifully, melt pool, flame size are gorgeous but I placed the candle in a large bedroom and when you walk in, there is a slight scent, nothing to write home about. I checked oil flashpoint and it is greater than 200. I guess if I wanted to remove the wick from the equation, I could "warm" the entire candle on a warmer plate, thereby checking the igi 4627 as a "carrier" for this particular oil. I am not sure if my thinking is correct so I wanted to check with others. Oh, one other thing. I am not quite sure how to phrase this but, when I walk in the room where the candle is burning, I smell a slight scent of coco beach and a slight scent of "wax". Do you know what I mean? It is a "candle" smell, though, not necessarily a "scented" smell. This is what got me thinking about flames, wicks, flashpoints. Sorry, if this post is confusing but I am confused. Appreciate any input. Eve
  14. I love the Frank & Mhyrr from Candlescience....it is a strong thrower. It reminds me of shalimar parfum....I don't know if this is how F&M is supposed to smell but I like it.
  15. I ordered so many oils from RE/AH when they had the 4 oz. sale. I have put a few in wax. I used igi 4786 at 10% fo. I made .75 oz tarts. Each and every one I've done so far had an awesome scent throw and one tart filled my whole house. It is just a matter of preference of scents. The ones I have put in wax were: Almost Paradise-a wonderful peach coconut scent Hot Apple Pie-a true apple cinnamon scent (not cake) Choc Nut Brownie-not my preference but a true choc scent Watermelon- oob it's Jolly Rancher- in wax it's a real watermelon scent Country Clothesline- a clean linen scent These oils were phenomenal strong throwers. The Hot Apple Pie is my daughters favorite of all of the tarts that I've ever made. I guess that I will be buying the big bottle when my four ouncer runs out. I have 15 more oils to test. I will post my thoughts once I put them in wax and burn. 17. Bamboo Sugar Cane from FOH. Great oil...great throw...great price Eve
  18. I had my candle party on Thursday night. Eight guests came, plus the hostess. It was so nice to hear everybody complementing the candles/tarts. It went from about 7:30 till 10:00 and I sold about $350. I was ecstatic...but the hostess felt bad? She invited 20 people.... But the way I see it is, 8 candle people is better than 20 regular people...the eight ladies really loved the candles. Another lady at the party said, she wants to host a party, so I guess that I will be doing this again some day. Eve
  19. I'm burning a tart I made from wsp Nantucket Briar (crabtree evelyn type)...it is a beautiful scent...I think it is dead on dupe. The throw is amazing...and I think it was a lower priced oil. Eve
  20. Hi I have used foh tuscan herb and I love it! I recently sold some tarts to a neighbor and she had to come to tell me how wonderful her house smells. One little tart really fills the house. hth eve
  21. I second the mango sorbet....it's a dead on dupe of the mango from the tutti dolce line, sold at bath and body works
  22. I got up before everyone, and I am making candles. I went to drop off four candles yesterday that someone ordered and as usual I brought my basket of candles. By the time I got home, I had sold 18 candles! I am having my first candle party/show on Thursday and I sold 1/4 of my stock! I am so happy! I love this hobby...it's taken me 39 years to find a hobby and I've never enjoyed a creative outlet like this before. Happy Mother's Day to everyone! Eve
  23. I love mango sorbetto from wsp. it is very strong thrower in igi 4627. every single person who smelled it loved it. eve
  24. I've read about the aroma beads....I've purchased a couple of pounds. I was wondering when you make sachets, do you just put the beads in the organza bags or do you mix the beads with poutpourri and put the mixture in the bags? I've always liked the way dry flowers look in organza. Has anyone ever mixed the two? tia Eve
