  1. Yes, free shipping on oils in amber glass has to be worth atleast $10; it makes the oils much more appealing. eve
  2. I love WSP's Mango Sorbetto and Fig&Cassis. Both are $14.95 for 8 oz bottle....a bit expensive but they come in amber glass. I was just on the site and I noticed that it said they have a sister site, http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=6007&ProductName=Fragrance+and+Flavors.com This site is for their oils only. It says that they offer free ship on orders of $50. I also noticed that they do offer some "bargain" oils which are $9.95 for 8 oz. Some that looked interesting to me were: Cherry Almond Coffee Cake and Spice Cucumber Mint Mango Papaya Sage and Citrus Is anyone familiar with these scents? TIA Eve
  3. sorry, I've never used oatmeal raisin or snickerdoodle. eve
  4. I read on the igi website that the 4627 holds 12%. I was trying to make the equivalent of a high end candle and I thought that high end candles had up towards 15% fo. I have a couple of oils that are super expensive (and strong). Perhaps, I will lower to 10% with these oils and see if they are just as good. I appreciate the input. Eve
  5. No, I havent tried the orange danish....I did try FOH Orange Bundt Cake and OMG...it is amazing. It is hard to describe...it is like a phenomenal bakery scent and yet it is a clean scent...it is really something that is beyond words...try it...you won't be disappointed...it is a strong thrower, too. eve
  6. I'm in a "testing" mode so I've got a few going. In my bedroom, Fragrance by Design's Nectarine Honey Blossom....I love this scent and the room is infused....it is romantic and tranquil. I large open LR/DR, it's FOH Japanese Pear and Ginseng....this is awesome for throw and I am in love with the fragrance. In daughter's room FOH, Apple Cobbler...after 10 min of melting tart the room is a baker's delight! In son's room and tiny tart of Tony's oakmoss....this is a powerful scent....I love it....but it is so powerful that it is "escaping" the room and taking over the house...it is literally coming under the door...after putting it out....two hours later, the room is still scented with oakmoss. Eve
  7. I've never tried Yea Mon but I have tried coco beach baby. It had a strong throw. Everyone who smelled it said, "Pina Colada". It doesn't have pineapple so i didnt think pina colada but the coconut is "tropical" Eve

  9. I use igi 4627, 12% fo for my 6 oz jar candles. I use igi 4786, 10% for my tarts (.75 oz). When I test a scent, I put one tart in my 8'x10' bathroom, with door closed. I smell in one hour. If the smell is strong, I open the door which opens into my 15'x19' bedroom, and see if the smell fills the large room. If the smell isn't strong, then I add a second, tart. Following the same procedure; first bathroom, then bedroom. If the scent is still not throwing, then I try the 6 oz container candle. If I put a *, it is because I love the scent so much I bought/or am buying the large bottle. I have recently made/burned the following oils and thought I'd share my experience with those who might be interested. 10. I am new to candlemaking. Yesterday, a lady who bought one of my candles told me that there is a metal wire in my wick. She said metal is not good to breathe. I used a low smoke zinc wick. They were easy to use and stood up straight when I made the candles. They seem to burn nice. Another person, however, told me that the flame kept going out. I guess that this is because of the wick. If anyone could tell me their ideas on a wick it would be greatly appreciated. I use igi 4627 wax. I add 12% fo. I use 6 oz salsa jars with a diameter of just under 3". I add tiny amounts of dye on occasion. TIA. Eve
  11. Has anyone tried the following scents from candlescience? Would love your take on the aroma, as well as your opinion of scent throw.....TIA Banana Nut Bread Hazelnut Coffee Strawberry Sun Ripe Strawberry Coconut Blueberry Cobbler Eve
  12. A woman who bought one of my candles wants to host a party for me/my candles. She loves the candle and loves the price. She is a candle lover. She wants me to bring all of my candles and tarts. She suggested that I get inexpensive tart warmers and put packages together. I did...I found nice one's at a discount store. She told me how to make brown paper bags look nice. I did this, too. I punched a whole in the top and I am going to tie a ribbon thru. She is inviting 24 women. She is serving wine and cheese. I told her that I don't have a lot of mark up on my goods. I charged $4 for a 4 oz hexagon jar. I charged $6 for a 6 oz salsa jar and my tarts are 2/$1. I found the tart warmers for $1.50 and I am packaging them as follows: Tart warmer, 12 tarts, 6 tealights for $10. I was wondering what is my obligation to this woman? Monetarily, speaking? I don't want to take advantage, she is serving 24 people, but I also don't want to give the candles away. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. PS- of course, this is very exciting and I am overjoyed that someone loves my candles. Eve
  13. I've always said that I didn't want to sell the candles but now I have so many (around 100 candles/ 300 tarts). Today, I took them to a couple of beauty salons and I sold them. I can't believe it but I just got home and counted my money and I have $185. Of course, I have a spent so much on supplies but who cares....now there is more money to feed the addiction. Awesome! Eve
  14. Yeah, I started out saying..."I'm just making them for myself." Now, I have spent a ton of money. So when people say, "I wish you sold them." I whip out the hundred jar candles I have in my closet and say, "Take your pick."
  15. Hi I put my Tony's FO into wax. My question is about the two J Malone Dupes. I used igi 4786 wax, 10% fragrance (1 oz/ 10 oz). The Jo Malone Scent was powerful; one little tart did my whole downstairs. The Black Vetyver Cafe was weak; one tart had a hard time doing a small bedroom. Has this been the case for others? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Eve
  16. Hi my name is Eve and I am a compulsive candle maker. I have been up every night making candles. I can't stop. Whenever I recieve my fo samples I have to make tarts, candles, etc. And I can't stop until I've put all 8, 10, 12 samples into wax. Does this eventually wear off. Will the day come when I can put the samples aside until another week? Or just do two or three samples in a night? I've just put 8 fo samps from FOH into wax....but I'm too tired to tell you which ones. Last night I did 8 from Tony's....but I'm too tired to remember what they were. Oh well, God grant me the serenity and all that jazz.....got to go...it's time to add the fragrance oil and pour. Nite, Eve
  17. I am NOT experienced and here's what I do. I weigh out the wax. If I am using a 1 oz sample size of fo, then I weigh out 10 oz wax. I heat wax until it melts...this takes appx 20 min. I use a wire wisk and I mix the unscented wax for a few seconds. If I want I add a color chip. I mix a few seconds. Then I add the fo and I mix about 30 sec. Then I pour. I don't know what temp ...appx 150. HTH Eve
  18. The wax I used for tarts was igi 4786. It is a container wax but it is real hard. I chose it bec it holds 10% fragrance. Normally I use igi 4267 but it is like vaseline, not for tarts. Eve
  19. Well, I finally got a chance to burn at least one of each type of tart that I made from the 12 samples I bought during the 99 cent sale. The one's I loved the best and have now bought large glass bottles of are: Frankinsence and Myhrr Honeysuckle Jasmine Hansel and Gretel's House. All of the oils had very powerful hot and cold throws so it is just a matter of personal preference. I also liked the Mimosa/Mandarin and the Black Currant Nectarine but I would say that they reminded me of fruit punch. It just so happens that fruit punch is a nice scent (although I wouldn't have thought so.) Cucumber melon was also very nice. As was Creme Brulee. True to their names. I didn't like Rain or Moon Lake Musk, but other people did (preference). I put Mediteranean Fig in a lotion that smelled real nice. I see from my old post that I also have Fig forrest, Peach and Med Fig which at this time I have still not tested the tarts. I will let you know when I do. I like the cold throw and I imagine that they will be wonderful as all of the oils were very strong throwers. HTH Eve
  20. I've only ordered from four suppliers. I picked my fav from each for use in candles (I like other scents for B and . WSP- mango sorbetto FOH- Bamboo Sugar Cane Sweetcakes-Red Currant (Votivo type) Candle Science- Frankinsence and Myhrr Eve
  21. Can I use the same metal tart molds that I use for candle tarts for melt and pour soap? I thought that they would make cute individual size soaps? Thanks for your replies. Eve
  22. I know that they are out there. I know you nice folks have even told me where in various threads. I just thought it would be nice to have info gathered under one topic. Thanks in advance. Sweetcakes does a Nectarine Honey Blossom Eve
  23. My faves were Bamboo Sugar Cane....a clean scent....I used in lotion, perfume and candle. Indonesian Teak....a mellow scent....I used in candle. Moonlight Path...better than White Candle Barn's ....stronger throw Sensual Secrets...also mellow...I used in candle. Every oil I purchased performed excellent in wax...They are strong, strong, strong! I am burning the Yuzu right now...one little tart is drifting thru my whole downstairs. At first, I wasnt crazy for this scent, but now I like it...go figure For the summer, you might like the Red Currant Thyme...It smells just like Cold Iced Tea with Lemon....which is a summer type beverage. Also, the Lemon Sugar is like lemonade....also summery. I purchased 8 oils from her....alll were super strong throwers...the only one I didnt like was Asian Spice...just not my style...but still strong, nonetheless. Eve
  24. http://www.sciplus.com/photoPopUp.cfm?photo=37115.jpg&name=Big Yaps Has anybody used these for candles? the price is right! 10 for $4.50. Great shipping rates. Dont these look similar to the wsp surplus 6 ouncers?. I will wait a bit for some feedback but for 30 jars for under $20 with shipping, I dont know how I could go wrong, unless the glass is poor quality and cant hold a candle. I hope someone has feedback. thanks Eve
