  1. Yeah, I understand. I am going to finish selling my last batch of candles and then work on my pricing. Like I said, the 300$ has done great. I have not got any money out of it yet, because all of my profit is being reinvested but I am fine with that for now. I think what I am going to do is stay with the wax and just work on ordering fragrance and containers in larger quantities.
  2. Here we go with this crap again. I have already admitted to drop shipping from Gelluminations( months ago). I explained the Myspace crap too. Yall are just too dumb to do your research. Yes, my scent description is the same as theres( I use their fragrances in all of my candles and everything else I make). I do not physically carry every scent. I carry around 30 scents in my products but, if one would like, they can custom order a fragrance. I also have explained this. I have spent 300$ of my money. After that, the business has funded itself. Slowly, but it has. I went from carrying only Soap and Candles to Carrying 5 products now so I guess it has funded itself quite well. Thanks for all the quality help.
  3. Yes, thanks to all who have helped me and all others.
  4. Thanks for everyones quality input. Im going to sell this last batch of about 100 at my 6.00$ price and when I order my next load of supplies I will work m as hard as I can to keep the price where it is. If i cant, then ill just have to go up so i can make at least my costs and a half back. Like i said, when i start ordering containers in larger amounts, my containers will only cost .89 cents each and that includes shipping. Thats a big drop from 1.16 currently. Since i am buying oil by the ounce it is costing me like 1.40 an ounce. If i bought it in 16 ounce bottles it drops to about .90 cents an ounce. I just need to get to the point where i am making enough profit(which ill never do at .75 a candle) to buy tons of supplies at once. So far i have only invested 300$ and countless hours of time into my business and I dont expect to put anymore of my money in. I want the business to fund itself. Its slowly working its way to that point. It just takes a while.
  5. Well, I am a new candlemaker in the area, ive only been here for 6 months. While, i do have loyal customers, its not fair for me to raise my price after they have stuck with me since the beggining. I don't do wholesale at the current time so its not a prob but if i ever do, it will be. I am working on the price by ordering FO in larger amounts and getting a wax that is a little cheap. I have also found my wicks for about 50 cents cheaper per 100. After i get enough funds to make larger amount of candles and i can order like 300 tins, my price will go down on those.
  6. i do one ounce FO to 16 ounces of base and its works great. its one of my biggest sellers. maybe its the base. where did you get it from and how much was it
  7. I think im gonna try the Ez soy with a little coconut oil. I ve been told it works miracles and it has always helped in my EcoSoya. Never even thought about alabaster but at the moment it would cost me more to drive all the way out there for the few supplies i buy at a time( 50 pounds of wax....fragrance) for a large order that would be great. I will definately look into them further.
  8. Well, i refigured my cost today and its costing me 4.10 just for the supplies and shipping. Then you add in electricity, water, gas, what the store charges me per month for my display, it gets up to around 5.20 . I think im gonna have to go to 7.00. I should truly be at 8.00 but thats really outrageous. I think im gonna try a new type of soy wax. Its around 15 dollars cheaper but if the quality is bad then i would just rather have the one thats 15 dollars more. Is EZ soy a good brand? Its the one thats 15.00 cheaper.
  9. Yeah, tried that one. Theres no one in the state that carries candle making supplies
  10. Hello Everyone. Im having troubles. Wax is constantly going up. When i first began I could make an 8 OZ Soy Candle in a metal tin and charge 6$( I charged this price because this is what my competitor charges for her 8) and make 1.75. Now, Im lucky if i can make .75 cents. I have to go up on my price but if i do, they will flock to her candle which is cheaper. Anyways, my question is, has your wax gone up? If so, how much? I am currently paying 55$ for 50 pounds of EcoSoya CB Advanced. Has anyone seen it cheaper? Is there a soy wax that will compare for a cheaper price?
  11. Gelluminations has always been great for me. Shipping has always worked out and i always receive my supplies promptly. Gelglow, you may just need to quit supplying to people out of the US that you do not know.
  12. I've heard of lotion candles. You light them and when they are melted, you just rub the wax on your skin. Anyone else seen or heard of them?
  13. Wow, you guys make me feel great. I made 62.00 after everything. That was with one other candle vendor. No one was looking to purchase anything, they were all just browsing. This was my first show so at least I got the word out. So far, I have two ppl begging me to do fundraisers but im little iffy about whether or not im ready to take that on. Im gonna have to study into it some more.
  14. I understand tossing the other stuff such as the pics and things like that but around here, booths are just white tables with items set up on them and I'm trying to create a "shopping environment." Around here i actually think that the dark and gloomy will attract since it is not just the typical plain booth. I'm really thinking about leaving the sign at home. All of my prices are on the product info thats in the pic frames so i think thats enough. I also have business cards so... you are right, the sign is not necessary. The drawer with my multi freshener in it won't fall out. I searched forever for a small side table with a drawer that i liked because I've always wanted to make a display that looks like this one does. I will put out a few more products than this but I dont want to have all of my items out due to children and things like that. I see the point of the lining on the shelves but I bought both of those shelves brand new for 18$ and the only reason I got them ose because of the way they look. Up bright and early, 5:30 in the morning. Wish me luck.
  15. Sorry about the pics being on their side, im in a hurry. At the actual setup, there will be a cover on the tent. It will also be outdoors lol, so no love seat right in the middle. The pics really do not look that good but i think it looks great here.
  16. Im alot lessed stressed over my first booth that will be at a local festival. I did a test setup today so that I could make sure i had everthing. Here are some pics. Please, tell me what you think.
  17. OMG, You all are making me nervous. Im going with a modified A ( two tables)but i think that around here(in the deep south, LOL) it'll do ok. Its alread like 95 degrees most days so i thought i would offer some shade for my customers who would like to browse. I am also selling drinks so this would help them keep cool.
  18. I went into a candle retailer's store the other day because her sign said soy and woodwick. Welp, I'm kinda nosey so I went in. It was just one of those portable storage buildings but the inside was beautiful. I started walking around and smelling the candles:undecided . They did not smell very good. The Wood Wick brand were outrageous. the 16 oz were like 23 bucks and they really did not smell that great. She also had the beanpod that didnt smell good either. I was impressed by the look of store but the products were really dissapointing.
  19. Thanks for all of your help. I will try again in a few days. How long should the soap cure? I've already cut mine since it is just a tester. The soap smells horrible and looks even worse but leaves the pleasant georgia peach fragrance behind when you use it.
  20. Okay, i decided to try HP soap today. I used rooto lye. My ingredient included 16 oz lard, 8.5 oz olive oil, 10 oz soy wax, fragrance to 4.4 ounces of lye mixed in 5 ounces of milk and 5 ounces of water. It turned out a tan color and has this bad smell. what did i do wrong?
  21. I used lard, rooto lye, soy wax, and olive oil. All things that were readily available to me at my local grocery store( very small grocery store). It turned out ok i guess. I've never made any before so i really cant say. How long should i let it dry? two or three days or what? I hope it turns out ok... im really anxious, can you tell?
  22. ok, thanks, my local grocery store is not you typical store.... they have lye so thats a start. thanks so much
  23. I just want a basic recipe but I can't find anything.... could you post some links maybe.
