  1. I store my wax, FO, and finished in the living room which is air-conditioned at about 80 degrees and 60-70% humidity (the lowest I can do with my leaky windows) and I have had no problem with any of them. I had some old testers which I left in boxes in the lanai for almost a year. Recently opened these up and they looked terrible. Lots of FO leakage. In contrast, I found some that I forgot about stored in the house for the same length of time and they looked fine. Lanai gets up to 95-98 degrees for about five months. Heat is definitely a problem. I recently starting buying FO from a Texas supplier-I hope it is not the one that has the hot warehouse!
  2. Stick with HP for printers unless you can be absolutely sure you can get service for the brand you buy. At my company, we have thrown away other brand printers because we can't get parts or service for them in our area. HP makes the best laser printers and our IT staff won't buy any other brand. (Now for inkjets I prefer Canon but that is another story.) Go to HP.com and they have all sorts of tools to help you pick out a printer. Good luck!
  3. How long did you leave it in the freezer? When I first tried to remove a tart from the bowl, I left it in the freezer 20 minutes like it said on the warmer box. Wax would not come out! I then left it in the freezer all day and when I tried again, it popped right out when I put a little pressure on the edge of the wax with a wooden utensil. BTW, I used 4794 paraffin wax. HTH.
  4. I have also not smelled the BBW version, but I made some wickless candles with Peak's Coconut Lime Verbena and took them to work. The girls went nuts! Absolutely loved it. In fact, I used my whole sample making wickless candles for them and now must order more. This one is a winner.
  5. Thanks everyone! I have a sample pack of the TL series-I'll give them a try!
  6. Hello, can anyone recommend a cotton core wick that is smaller than LX8 or Peak's C30? I'm using 4630 in a 4 oz jelly jar and I actually have a couple of scents that burn too hot. Anybody try S330T in this wax? I like the cottons better than the HTP because the HTP burns too hot near the bottom of the jar. Thanks everyone!
  7. I also use Peak's liquid dye. One bottle lasts a long time. I find it is easier to get the same colors consistently when I know how many drops per pound to use. I started with dye blocks but found them harder to measure. It is also easy to mix colors to get a special color. I drop the colored wax onto a small piece of marble that I keep in the refrigerator. It cools instantly and shows me what the color will look like. I keep a record of the color combos and quantities so it is easy to replicate. I feel color is a big part of presentation.
  8. I am buying them from www.shopgreatscents.com (ebay user greatscents). They will send you a free sample so you can actually test one to see what is the best size for your product. They also ship USPS, and sell in smaller quantities which is great when you are starting out. I found them to be very helpful and friendly, and fast too! Placed an order online Sunday and got it today.
  9. Thank you for correcting me. My Paypal experience is limited to eBay and at the time I first started using it, you had to register. I always learn something new on this site!
  10. I have some FO that is at least six months old stored in the #1 bottles and have not noticed any loss of scent so far.
  11. Ditto-I use IGI 4630 for wickless jars (great color, great throw) and IGI 4794 for tarts.
  12. I use 4 oz. canning jars and thick glass bowls. Wide short Platinum jars might work too. I would not use the thin glass that I see sold for votives. Even canning jars and thick glass CAN break. Glass breaks when the temperature changes too quickly. Tell your customers not to place a cold jar on a hot warmer as this could cause breakage. Personally I like the canning jars because they are designed to be immersed into 212 degree boiling water. But I have broken one or two when they cooled too much before putting them in the water when canning. If a jar exploded, that is different and could have been causes by too tall of a candle or bubbles in the wax that overheated. For this reason I favor short wide containers.
  13. Yes, in order for a customer to use PayPal, they must register with the site and then set up either a credit card or a checking account (they can use both also) with Paypal. I am not familar with ProPay.
  14. All Peak's scents-Warm Apple Pie is great and my friends love it. Macintosh Apple is very crisp and clean but a little light so I use it at 9%. Apple Jack and Peel is one of my favorites but not as popular with my folks at work-it is spicy. So far I have not been successful wicking any of these but I use 4630 Harmony Paraffin which is very hard to wick. I am doing them in tarts.
  15. I set my threshold at $20.00. Over that I buy insurance, under that, I take a chance.
  16. Peak's uses brown hard plastic bottles marked #1. I have never noticed any problems with these.
  17. I use 4630 from CandleScience and have never noticed it to be oily or have any black goop regardless of FO. Mainly use Peak's FO's. Sorry I don't have your answer.
  18. I tried the LX but not the ECO. Does anyone have experience with ECO wicks in paraffin? Thanks for the input!
  19. Hi y'all, getting ready to place my first order from Lonestar. Mostly I use Peak's and love their oils, but I have requests for scents Peak's does not have. Since I am already placing the order, I may try some other scents too. Are there any scents from Lonestar that are very hard to wick? Thinking of Apple Jack and Black Raspberry Vanilla. I have these from Peak and after trying 16 different combinations of size and material, gave up wicking BRV. Wondering if these scents from Lonestar are easier to wick. BTW, I use IGI 4630 and a 4 oz. jelly jar, and tried HTP, CD, RRD, cotton, hemp, and paper. Thanks for all input.
  20. Thanks, I expected to get blasted for not trimming! I am in the lucky position of working in a large company where I personally know at least a couple of hundred people. I interview them constantly about their candle buying and burning habits. One told me she bought a big jar candle once, put it in the bathroom, lit it and forgot it. She came back hours later to a towering inferno of untrimmed wick (zinc maybe? don't know). Also I visit lots of antique malls and stores and see lots of candles being burned without trimming, sometimes right under ceiling fans going full blast! So I try to test like the public thinks-set it and forget it, indoors, outdoors, in a draft. I have become a perfectionist about my wicked candles, which means I still don't have too many wicked candles to sell. Thank goodness for tarts!
  21. I try to test burn them without trimming, because I know my clients will do the same....
  22. Bayberry is a plant. The berries are boiled and exude a natural wax which is already scented. It is a fairly expensive wax. It is one of the older forms of candle wax that has been used. Bayberry scent imitates the scent of the natural wax. I believe light green is the color. This is a common Christmas scent.
  23. Don't know about it being a twin, but my friends/customers love Peak's French Vanilla.
  24. Missed CT terribly! A big thank you to all the great folks who operate and moderate this forum! So glad you are back!!!
