  1. NG's Autumn Magic is a beautiful scent, but it is nothing like GC's Autumn Walk. I used to think Autumn Walk was one I just HAD to find a dupe for, but there are so many other great scents out there, I gave up. I've found many that I like so much more!

  2. I held the pie tray one up to the monitor and its not the same. I agree it looks orange in the picture. I went back and pulled one of my floaters that I sent out in the valentine's swap and there's no hint of orange, but the pictures I just took do look orange. Indoor lighting issues maybe.

I think the floaters used a slightly higher red ratio, but not much. 3:1 red/yellow or maybe 4:1.

My floaters were red and brown, too.

One of these days, I will get LS's Hot Pink. There are a few FOs that I love from there anyway.

  3. Val, the two CC's that are on my PayPal acct, have been cancelled and I can still use PayPal, they just take the funds from the bank acct. If you once had a back up CC with them thats been cancelled, you an still use PayPal. If someone gets to my bank acct. I know its been through PayPal from now-on. I will either use PayPal or a prepaid CC from now-on, I sure hope PayPal is safe & secure.

Thanks, Leisa. That's good to know. I will continue to use Paypal and add funds to that bank account as needed. As for suppliers that don't accept Paypal, I will use a prepaid credit card. I already feel better knowing that my numbers aren't out there in cyberspace anymore. I don't want to take any chances. Now, I'm just waiting on my new cards and will breathe a little sigh of relief when I have them in hand. :)

  4. Scary....after hearing about all the hacks...my paypal account was hacked about a month or two ago. I don't think it was related to candle supply ordering..may have purchased from amazon though.

So from now on...I will probably be using a prepaid visa card to make online purchases.

After reading this thread on Saturday, I called my credit union and requested new card numbers on our debit/credit cards and Visa. Haven't been a victim of hacking as of yet, but I have used these to make purchases at many suppliers... most recently Peak and NG. I wanted to err on the safe side. Going to use a prepaid cc from now on. I am still unsure about what to do about Paypal. When I set up that account, I opened a separate account at my credit union and don't keep much money in there...just transfer money as needed. Thing is, you have to have a credit card as back-up on Paypal, and now, that account is closed. I'm not sure Paypal will allow me to have an account without a back-up credit card.

Maybe this is a good way for me to control my FO addiction...:rolleyes2

  5. thanks for the replies. Lonestar seems to be the popular one. Any other recommendations from them? I really need another supplier like I need another hole in my head. :laugh2:

If I were going to do an order with Lonestar, I would get these again, along with the Leather:

    Autumn Lodge

    Autumn Pear

    Butternut Pumpkin

    Cranberry Peppermint

    Goldleaf & Hydrangea

    Pink Lime

  6. Personally, I don't pay any attention to either flashpoint or specific gravity when I use a particular FO, and I have been at this for over four years. If I like a FO, I find a way to make it work in my wax, whether in candle form or in tarts.

  7. My hubby is retired and has his hands in everything around the house (unless it would be helpful!!). Can't even sneak anything into the house anymore!:laugh2: After 30 years of him working swing shifts and not behing home 1/3 of the time and sleeping another 1/3 of the time, it's hard to get used to him being in the house ALL the time!! Of course, I'm still working, so I'm not there--which definitely makes it easier. Sometimes I feel like I'm intruding on him and the cat when I come home and interrupt their routine!

Ha! As long as he doesn't go burning and melting your highly-coveted scents, it's all good. Right?!

I'm lucky my two teenage daughters could give a rat's you-know-what about my goodies or I'd have to put a padlock on all my stuff. :laugh2:

  8. By the way, I measured the depth and it is less than half an inch. The wax that popped out is even less than that. I wouldn't want the melted wax to go all the way to the top anyway, so a tart in a 1 oz container works well. :)

P.S. Good thing you hide the good ones. I am just glad my hubby keeps his paws off completely! :P

  9. We always leave ours going 24/7 (of course, the TV does the same--in both the bedroom and the living room!). I turned it off this morning and told DH he couldn't change tarts until the wax hardened (sometimes I think he's as much of a FOHO as I am!).

Haha! I am glad that my hubby doesn't touch my stuff, even though he indulges me by always sniffing and loving what I put in front of his nose. :)

Thing is, I want to be in control of what goes in the burner or candle holder next! lol

Some fragrances are extra special and need to be saved for a special occasion. Know what I mean?

  10. Also, don't think I would sell these even if I were selling. I gave a friend one and she has hers on all the time. Last time I went to her house, she showed me what hers is doing and asked me why it was doing that. The wax was seeping out of the ceramic part. The one she had did not have a glaze and oddly enough, the wax was penetrating through the ceramic. I have that same exact one in my bathroom, but don't have it on all the time. Thinking maybe there is a crack in hers somewhere which is causing the problem...

  11. Nope, I am just a hopeless FO addict at the moment. lol :P

You've got me curious, though. Going to go and pop that thing in the freezer to get the wax out and then measure the depth. Unfortunately, I can't leave that thing on all night because my hubby can see the light from the bed and it bothers him (ugh), so the wax is already hard.

  12. I don't think it's very deep at all. I am careful to not put something too large in there. This one is by my husband's sink in our bathroom. I worry about him bumping it and causing it to spill. lol

I will only put small tarts in there. I use 1 and 2 oz portion cups, but only put the 1 oz tarts in this warmer.

  13. It really depends on what wax you are using as different waxes can handle varing % but you can probably start with 6%. You mentioned you were ordering some Rose FO, if that is the Rose Bouquet it's very strong. When I use it in pillar wax, I go as low as 3%.

I have several guy friends that request my Rose Patch pillars - that's rose and patchouli blended 50/50. Orange Patch would make a nice blend too :)

Mmmm! Rose Patch sounds really good. How come I never thought of that? lol

Peak's Rose Bouquet is super strong. I poured a bunch of it a few years ago and got kind of tired of it, but mixing it sounds like a good idea.

  14. Yesterday I tested an incense stick that I made in Moon Lake Musk from CS. I could swear that thing burned for well over an hour! lol

It was awesome. Gonna burn another one today and time it. I used a 50/50 mix with NG sticks.

  15. I have one of the plug-ins from Candle Warmers. I turn it off and let it harden, then put it in the freezer for about five minutes so the wax will just pop out. Sometimes I use the tip of a knife to get it to release. Seems like a butter knife is my best friend. My husband calls me the "candle doctor" because I am always messing with candles in one way or another. lol

  16. I didn't even know there was a Yankee store in our mall until Friday. Found out they have been open since October. lol

I walked around and sniffed a lot, but didn't buy anything. The quality doesn't seem the same to me either. My favorite was their Christmas Cookie. I've yet to find an exact dupe for that!
