  1. We haven't had a problem.I've used them for years.Husband does our candles outside in a shed.He had to move from the basement since I can't be around the actual candlemaking. With the Basement the odor came up through the vents. It has become to much for me being around the actual making.I've even cut down burning them. LynnS
  2. I'm like you.Craft shows are way to much work.Long hours, sometimes high fees, never know the weather, hauling/ setting up/taking down.We dropped them last year and doing none this year. I thought about setting a tent up here since we live on a St Rt but didnt get around to it.Alot of people will be driving by my house next week that will be attending a show that brings 150,000 people. The main reason I won't is because my husband works 7 days a week and I don't want to sell on my own.He needs to be home. hope things get better for you.I've thought about going to a Restaurant and offering my candles.I know the guy who owns it.He's in his 80's now but still working. He has the most elaborate barn he transformed into a restaurant and gift shop.An amazing place. He always asked me when I was coming to see it.I mentioned once about candles. The first thing he said "Are they Soy"?Possiblity LynnS
  3. blt212 Funny you mentioned to offer them white/natural.I did for my customer since she wanted to buy more at wholesale. She wanted to stay with color no matter what. Wasn't changing. Recently she wanted to buy more candles. That's fizzled since she can't get them for almost $2.00 less and can't find a email where I quoted her that. That's because I didn't quote or email that to her. I think I remember telling her about the heat before she had her show. She said she had it down pat.A tarp, and wouldn't leave the candles in the hot car.But a week after the show I get a email where she said they faded. LynnS
  4. Would you agree? How would you handle it.No returns I'm sure. I made a mistake and told a customer I would replace them. She re-sold at a show and they frosted. The candles were fine when they arrived etc.She Loved them. I made a mistake and was to nice. She sent maybe 8 back and now says more of course. LynnS
  5. I'm OK with our products on her site but dont think we have a business relationship now.I haven't heard from her.She keeps saying I gave her a price for the apothecary jar(16 ounce) as $4.75 but I have the emails the Country Jar is $5.50 wholesale. No way would the price be cheaper for the 16 Apothecary Jar. We talk at length about the Country Jar BUT when she ordered she placed a order for the Apothecary. Last I heard she was going to try and find the email where I had the 16 ounce apothecary jar for $4.75. I haven't heard back in almost 2 weeks.I've been through numerous emails too looking for that one email.None saying that. LynnS
  6. We didn't talk about her using my pics but just happened on her site.Really didn't know she had a site till then. thought her business was craft shows. She was getting started. She has recently disputed a wholesale price and now says hold off.She gives many compliments on our products and did praise them but disputes this one wholesale price. She said it was the price of the Country Jar and not the price of the Apothecary Jar.I can't give it to her for the price of the Country Jar. Candles are more like a hobby to us.My husband works many long hours and now we're cutting back on shows etc.Hauling those candles are a pain and we decided to much work for what we made and the long hours. I have a faithful wholesaler who's been ordering for almost 4 years. She doesn't know what she'll do if we quit but we're going to stick with her and give her our good products. In all the years she's never had one problem with shipping her selling our candles or the coloring/pricing.She knows she's making a profit. This is when you get it in writing. All the emails don't work even if you have them.Get a contract on wholesale pricing. The pics are our pics she got on our site. LynnS
  7. Some insight needed.Would those of you who have a wholesaler allow them to put the pics on your site on the site they made???? Or do you think it should not be allowed. I know people find someone using their pics and get very upset but what about a wholesaler??? Thank You, LynnS
  8. She was off my list in the beginning. To many times she tried to order. She stated she wouldn't order again but I would never sell her anything again. I have a long list of reasons on my website.Orders that never reached billing or were paid. I brought that up to her. I'll wait for the itty bitty pieces. If I ever send money back it won't be right away. She will need to remind me.I'm busy!!!!! She'll also have to make the trip to pick up refund and sign for it. Mailed a order of tarts to another customer in a large brown padded envelope the same day.Not one broken but the tart order in a shipping box was the messy order.Figure that. LynnS
  9. Noodle. We're really dumb on all this. It all happened in just 4 days.Get order and payment.Send order in 2 days. She receives it in 2 days then sends a urgent email. First one came through and then the next one just 2 hours later saying Something to the effect as Urgent.Check the email I sent to so and so.Open the email and she is very UPSET!!!! She said damaged order will be sent back.OK do that. Then next email all order can't be sent back. Some went to the trash. MO order will take weeks and you are loosing me and my friends as customers.I will tell all not to order from you now. I will mail the damaged goods( what she didn't put in the garbage and she's OK with MO) since I told her I can't send through Pay Pal. We want to make sure she gets the MO. Don't want it to come back she didn't receive it.Sending cert letter asking her to sign for it. It will be done as soon as the damaged goods reach us. LynnS
  10. She said in the email to long to get money back with MO.Weeks.She now OK'd it.I told her I couldn't send through Pay Pal.She said I paid through them.I know. We can't send her anything back I'm doing the right thing.Get damaged goods back.I told her We've No problems like this before. The whole thing damaged. She said prob the mail man.She mentioned 2 bags were opened(that was just to be able to say 24 tarts were damaged) and how could that be with the mail man. He won't open the box and then open the clasped bags. Now then some are in the garbage and she can't send those back.I look for very little to be coming back. After her first email it went to sending the stuff back if you want."I do want" to OH alot went in the garbage with her next email. I did briing up that she ordered once and never a problem with the product. She tried to order 5 more times and it never went through with Paymant so we didn't send anything. Now she pays for a order and we send it and all is trashed. Wants money back but we weren't able.Must be MO.She's Ok with it. This has made me realize I need to raise my prices.I haven't for some time.I'm Doing some evaluation.I don't have alot of regular customers but those who buy quite a bit for years I will keep their cost the same LynnS
  11. Jeani353. Thank You. I already did contact pay pal.I told them this is fishy and they agreed.I was told to send nothing back and she said she won't buy anything or will her friends.Forget sending money back through Pay Pal.Can't.She won't take a MO and I sure can't send it through Pay Pal. Fishy Fishy Fishy. She said forget the MO. I will tell her that is the only way. I can't send your money back since she can't recieve money through Pay Pal. I will tell her just that.See what her answer is. I havent heard of this. A new way to scam. LynnS
  12. Noodle.I guess I'm a honest person.I know I was taken but the next chance she paid.Looking back all the times she tried over and over to get through and also another order I shouldn't have accepted payment and mailed the goods. I can't send payment back.Something makes me think she is doing others the same and now CAUGHT.Why else can't she receive money through Pay Pal. LynnS
  13. Thank You both Moonshine.I will tell her I sent a order. She knows.I believe I have ALL my emails.I am a hoarder when it comes to emails and esp my candle business. I tried to give the money back.I want done with this bull. This time when she ordered payment was in my Pay Pal.BUT when I tried to send the money back I got from Pay Pal"This recipient is currently unable to receive money".Well just 4 days ago I got her payment. Now I can't send it back for damaged goods.I told her to send the damaged goods back and I will reimburse with a MO(I can't send it back from my pay pal so MO is the only way).I won't send a check . Don't think she will accept one and I can't do it through Pay Pay.Blocked for some reason.FISHY So my reply back from her when I said "Send all back and I will reimburse for shipping and for the damaged goods" and will send her a refund after I see the damaged goods. She said "Some of the product went to the garbage".That was her reply. She is mad and decided she will not order from me and she will tell her friends not to anymore.Funny I have never received orders from her area and my other customers are great people. I get nothing but brags on our products. Like I mentioned I said I will send MO.She said I dont want to wait weeks for it.She wouldn't.I will mail her the refund asap.If she sends me the stuff back I will reimburse. Just strange me not being able to reimburse her 4 days I recieved payment from her. I have all her orders on my website.Of course the first one went out by my mistake and I believe may have the email for the second one where I told her no payment was recieved. I was ignored. Then after that 5 more times it came through.I got payment.Other time no payments so I ignored her. Something going on with her she wants the money back soon.I can send it back within 4 days if she sends the order to me in 2 days and I send her refund in 2 days. She told me it would be weeks and forget it.She will make sure her friends never order.I guess I will tell her I'm sorry your friends will be told that but we have customers and all have been very very pleased. This is the first complaint.I asked for all back and she says NO.It's because she she wants money back Now!!! She In the beginning she said she will send back the order. Now changed her mind.I'm going to tell her I'm not able to send payment through pay pal.Let her know I tried and why she would have to accept a MO. Trust me this is crazy.I am tired of it all.I've been told to send NOTHING back to her.Something is wrong here. Going to ask her WHY I can't send payment back and why the response I get from her.She has no idea I tried to pay her back and wasn't able. She is now becoming intimidating. LynnS
  14. I just posted about a customer.I received her payment through PAY PAL. As I mentioned in my post I will send her the money back and request the order back.Well I TRIED to send the money and I get "THIS RECIPIENT IS CURRENTLY UNABLE TO RECIEVE MONEY". This is through PAY PAL. What do some of you think and also should I contact Pay Pal???? Never heard of this.Never had to send a refund but have sent and recieved money through Pay Pal for years for other reasons. I have 7 orders on my site from this person and only one ever went through with payment and paid for but she wants her money back.I wanted to send it through Pay Pal like she sent but I'm not able for the above reason. Is this strange. I'm going to email and ask her why I can't send her money back but I need some more ideas if anyone can help.Looks Like need to send a MO.Of course cash only and I bet what she expects. LynnS
  15. A while back I received a order from a customer.Supid me sent it on and didn't check if I received payment from Pay Pal.Well she got a nice order and it was candles. She paid nothing. Then 4-5 more times I get the same person trying to order but no money was sent to Pay Pal.I sent her a email the second time.No response. Still a few more orders came through no payment.I decided at the point to not answer. A few days ago I finally get payment for a order of tarts.Free shipping.I sent them within a couple days. I get a email from her saying all the tarts are a msss and 2 tarts smell terrible. She wants her money back.No problem. She will mail the tarts back also but of course I pay shipping. It was free for her. She said the order was a mess with 2 bags(the white bags you pack potpourri and soap in). There were 12 tarts in each bag. She said they were OPENED.Impossible on my end.Why would I send opened bags. They were the bags you clasp.I like them.Have the small window where you can see the product. They were snug in that bag.Laid down with newspapers stuffed in the box. Nothing would move. I send orders of 60 packs of tarts to one lady in MO.She's never said any tarts in my package are broken.Hers are mailed and put in a brown bag when she orders 12 of one scent. She orders that many or more annually. Never a problem.Other customers also have no problems with broken tarts and any big mess from shipping. No one has said my tarts smell bad. Smaller orders I send with a padded brown envelope. No breaking. These were sent in a Medium Flat Rate box. I send all the time in those flat rate.Only had a few candles broken with one customer. In fact my one customer whose ordered for 4 years(over 150 candles at once) said Absolutley no problems with breakage. I use a hard wax.Palm wax not 100% soy.I want them to just fall out of the burner and the customer doesn't have to dig them out of the burner. No problem getting the tarts back. I will pay shipping. What would some of you do and have any of you had a customer who ordered over and over and didn't pay???Finally pays and order is bad. I have all these orders on my website. I never delete. Oh and the nice candle order I sent her was fine.Never any complaint and it was sent Flat Rate USPS and free because I was stupid. That's why I check all the time now. LynnS
  16. I had a wholesaler that owned a nursery. She did good selling candles usually fall time and holiday. Right now I am working on getting my candles in a restaurant.A awesome place.Someone turned their barn into a beautiful restaurant and gift shop.I think they are needing some candles.Last time I looked the shelves were bare.I also have mine in a art center.Sales are slow but I do get sales. They make $1.00 off the sale.It is a tax free since it is non profit. I guess there are options but I don't think I want to get so big for a store.I want to make money but not have to do the industrial thing and have alot of equipment doing the work.Just simple but make a nice profit. LynnS
  17. I also think marketing. Some are just go getters. I let my candles sell for themselves and don't push them.I'm told they are the best.I guess I quit craft shows.I just got bummed out.I got all kinds of compliments.Did I make a killing "NO". Another thing I believe it is the area you live.In my area 8 ounce JJ sell for 4 or $5 but towns about a hour away people get $8.00. LynnS
  18. Oh i must mention the one who does the shows and website just sent me back some candles that frosted over a month after we mailed them. She isnt happy so told her to mail them back but this is A problem with soy. One candle she sent back was beautiful. Not a thing wrong with the color but the lid was damaged. Now when we mailed them nothing was said about lid damage but those she mailed back and the others had frosting(all but the one).I am put back with this so mailing her the one candle back the same way and replacing the lid only. And for the other candles she sent back she sent them back with no label and how am I supposed to know what scent.I won't send her more and do all that work.I can't smell something like some candlemakers and determine what it is. I don't know what she expects.Oh and the flower pot votives (all lids were damaged) but had very minumum of frosting. She never said the lids were damaged. You could tell it was people taking the lids off and smelling them. She said her clients in her area are particular people but in all the years I've done candles none and absoluting none have looked like this even after a couple shows. Oh and I offered her dye free candles since the frosting is bad(not what we did),She wants color.I will send her a email telling her we WON'T be responsible this time. She made the decision for color. She asked me what I thought and I told her You are thje customer. It's up to you. Oh and she mailed me back the flower pot votives in a box 2 times the size.So I paid double for shipping. All of them would go in the $5.00 flat rate USPS box. I am up in the air with this situation!!!!!! Just a bit more insight. To you and others on the board. . LynnS
  19. I do consignment with our local Art Center. They only make 20%. What I do is advertise on my site and tell people where they can get my candles.Like you mentioned meeting people is a hassle. This way they go straight to the business that carries them. I have 2 wholesalers. One order over 100 candles 2 times a year. The other is just starting by doing craft shows and has a website. I think how you are doing it is the way to go.Good Luck!!!! LynnS
  20. I came to this conclusions as you said, Colorless if she wants. She is bothered they won't sell because where she lives people are so particular and they won't buy them.I've had people buy some if it is a certain scent they want. With it being my business and my feelings on the fading I sell it a bit cheaper. They really don't seem to mind.BUT she is my wholesaler and if she feels they wont sell then nothing but colorless. I told her if they are left in a car etc they will frost. She said temps were 70 and she took them out of the car and they weren't left in it. She said they also weren't in the sun when displayed but temp changed I'm sure throughtout the day. I have another wholesaler that loves my candles and they sell good. She buys over 100 at a time. She's never said they frost.I am going to double check but hers are in a store. I'm sure they turn down the heat when they leave. Many store owners do. Another wholesaler would buy 400 at a time and she was a former candlemaker. She never had a problem with my candles but we had a shipping problem in her area. I will offer her the change to colorless. We had problems with the color because my husband makes them in our shed.We made them over 2-3 times to be perfect. We can't do that again. The candles were with her for over a month and now just starting to frost. I'm sticking with my colored candles to sell to my other wholesaler and also for my website but will see if she is interested in colorless. My preference is color and we get compliments on our colored candles. But if they won't sell in other areas then best to go colorless. LynnS
  21. This is a big problem for me.If my candles frost before I send them to a wholesaler I do them over.Very costly. Now though my wholesaler said the candles are getting lighter.FROST.Wanted to know what she can do because they don't look as good to sell. She has had the candles over a month but she did a show last weekend.I bet they were in the car either when it was hot or cold during transport and she may have left them in there longer. She wants to know what she can do?I don't see anything.Anyone have any suggestions? Should we take them back.I am about ready to give up candlemaking. We did fine till this year after years of candlemaking. My other wholesaler hasn't mentioned anything but hers stay in her store and don't get moved once she sets up her display.I'm not sure how much these are moved around. I know they've been to one craft show. LynnS
  22. This scent would be a seller for me.Alot of people like lemon scents. One of my biggest sellers is Lemon Biscotti. This fresh lemon would be awesome.I will order it from NG. LynnS
  23. I accept checks and cash but would like to accept CC. The reason is alot of people tell me shoppers will buy more if they put it on the credit card.I don't know much about using the machine to process the cc's but would like to find out how to do it. So far no one left my booth because they didn't have the cash. They seem to find it like someone said "Digging in their purse". LynnS
  24. It's been a couple years since I had the reindeer poo but the name was catchy(not crude). For what it smells like I forget.People liked it and liked the smell. If I remember right I got the scent from Nature's Garden. They might have a descript of the scent there. Think I will order more for the coming holiday season. Talk about a elderly lady wanting a certain scent. That happened to me at a show.I forget what the scent was but it was supposed to put you in the mood.I came back to my booth. The lady next to me said "a lady asked me to have you put this scent back for her.I did.She came to pick it up.She was old. When I saw her I was in a state of shock.I told her I never sold the scent and she actually told me what it does.Like gets you in the mood. Not what I cared to hear.LOL I had to tell the crafter next to me.She thought it was funny. LynnS
  25. I'm not fond of some of these names and wouldn't use Butt Naked but I have (one scent) sold Reindeer Poo.It got laughs and people loved the fragrance. They loved POO????? LynnS
