  1. I'm a step ahead of you. I bought a few bags at Walmart after easter with just that in mind. I also picked up a few pink wicker easter baskets as well. The things in this basket were too heavy to put grass under and you wouldn't have seen any of it anyway, but I had enough duplicates of things that I'm going to make up a smaller basket to use at for our chinese raffle and I'll use some of it then and our team has to provide a basket at the relay for their chinese auction. I'm making a candle basket for that. Come to think of it , I didn't really buy grass, I bought pink paper shred. I also bought a few pink and purple florals and such at Michaels the day after valentines to use for relay.
  2. I finally managed to round up everything that was donated for my "Nothing Better Than Handmade For Finding A Cure" basket for a raffle to benefit my son's relay for life team. Well, almost rounded everything up. My mom asked me to wait one more day so she could finish knitting a dish cloth. I packaged everything from one person individually and attached a business card if one was sent or the person's name and where they were from. It is hard to see all the items as I have them pretty jammed in the basket, but I listed all the items on the inside of the basket card. I also lined and trimmed the basket.
  3. The foam crafts are great for little ones. The foam pieces come with a sticky back now so now gluing necessary.
  4. If I could get the team all together at one time, I'd gladly take a picture. We've had one actual meeting so far and I was missing 6 kids. Our team communication has been through texting, snail mail or my son relaying messages and printed materials to his friends at school in person. Incase anyone is questioning the legitamacy of my son's team the website is: http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR/RelayForLife/RFLFY10PA?team_id=617154&pg=team&fr_id=25307 The team is made up of my son's 2008 6th grade class from Holy Redeemer Catholic school in Ellwood City, PA. In 6th grade, they had a relay team as a class project. The kids wanted to keep the team together last year but their captain last year didn't do any fundraising for them, they were on their own to collect their own $100.00. My son and his friends said they wanted to continue the team, so I took over. Our team this year is the original '08 class minus 3 but we gained a sister of one the team members and 2 of my friends sons who aren't Catholic and another member who is Catholic but not a graduate of the school. Our team is Holy Redeemer Alumni II and Friends (there is an Alumni I team of older kids) Our slogan is: Faithful Friends Fighting For A Cure I'm working with 15 kids who are 14 years old and with all of them being involved in sports functions and school activities all selling things, I had to think out of the box a little and come up with something different. That's why I thought of the basket. This will be the 2nd basket raffle we're doing. The first one was totally donated by a friend who filled a wicker basket with febreeze, glade, etc. and we made $100.00. The slogan for this basket is: Nothing Beats Handmade For Lending A Hand In Beating Cancer Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to make sure everyone knows I'm not trying to pull a scam. All but 3 of them are on a retreat today preparing for confirmation by the bishop so hopefully I can get a picture this afternoon after the closing prayer service.
  5. I can donate a handmade mason jar soy candle that I can accessorize with one of my mom's hand crocheted lid covers. JacquiO...package arrived yesterday. I didn't open it until today 'cause I thought it was some sample wax I ordered and thought I'd open it to put it away. Candles smell great and the crochet lid topper is really cute. I didn't have anything from New York yet either so better yet.. Still time to donate to the handmade basket if you want. So far, I have items from the following states: Alaska Florida Pennsylvania New York Illinois Michigan Kentucky and New Zealand Need items by 4/18. A MILLION thanks for everyone who has donated so far and who have promised to send items. This should be a great fundraiser for the relay team with all the wonderful items I'm receiving.
  6. I've had a request for this fragrance and thought I'd ask here first before I send myself crazy searching a ton of sites. I am also looking for a good Lily of the valley.
  7. these are really cute. Is there a pattern? I know what you mean about the dishcloths and hot pads. I'd like to try something new as well.
  8. Thanks again everyone for such generosity. We'll be selling tickets on this basket mid-April, so plenty of time to get it filled up. We've gotten some wonderful things, even a knitted neck warmer all the way from New Zealand.
  9. Pm'd everyone. Thanks so much for your generosity and thoughtfulness. We'll be collecting items until the end of March.
  10. I could make sink freshener to go with her dish cloths. PM me your address. Thanks Deb, the sink freshener and air freshener arrived yesterday. I have everything in a box waiting to be put in the actual basket and it smells and looks so good. I can't wait to put it all together. ...........bumping this up to see if anyone else would like to send a donated handmade item for our relay for life basket.
  11. Really cute. I enjoyed the tree in the background. We are still under mounds of snow and supposedly more coming beginning of next week. Can't wait to see my own trees and yard but in the meantime it's nice to know that someone can step foot outside
  12. Me again, bumping this up to see if anyone who hasn't seen the original post is interested in helping the team out. I'm hoping to have each state represented in the basket as well as other countries. So far I have PA, Alaska, Michigan, Florida, Canada and New Zealand. I'll take anything you'd like to donate. If I get too many duplicates I'll make 2 baskets and have 2 winners. I'm shooting for mid-April to put the basket together.
  13. TERRIFIC! Any handmade donated item would be awesome and greatly appreciated. Thank You sent you a pm
  14. Bumping this up.....anybody care to donate anything handmade?
  15. My total for just the purple lined baskets would be $53.32 which is still a great price even with buying both types. I was hoping to have tax refund money to order but I called for an appt. today and she's booked solid until 3/3. UGH...Hopefully these last that long.
  16. The baskets are so cute and I was thinking I could do something with them for my relay for life team to sell with it having the purple and also liked the basket with the lid but put 108 of the non-lid ones and the 60 of the lidded ones in my cart and it would be $62.76 shipping to NW PA from Ohio....YIKES. Don't think I'll be ordering. I just pretend reordered the same things and put my mom's address who lives across town, different zip code but only 8 minutes away and shipping is $10.00 cheaper. Hmmm.
  17. I soak mine in dishpan with very hot water for a long time then use Goo gone to get the rest off.
  18. Oh my, I don't think my 12 yr. old would even think of asking samples in this manner. I'd give them a piece of my mind for doing so. I posted in the craft section about asking for donations for handmade items for my sons relay for life team and after reading this, I hope nobody thinks I'm trying to run a scam.
  19. I'm reposting as I wasn't getting any response to my previous post and couldn't edit. I'm the team captain for my son's relay for life team which is composed of 12 boys and 2 girls ages 13 and 14. They have been bombarded with fundraising for sports and etc. so I'm trying to be creative with our efforts. We held a raffle on a basket full of air freshener type things (febreeze, glade, etc.) that was all donated by a friend. I thought it would be nice to do another raffle using the theme "Nothing better than Handmade lending a hand for a cure" or something like that. I thought it would be neat to get items from all over to fill the basket. I'm not sure of the exact date when we will be doing the raffle. I have to make sure I have enough stuff to put together a decent basket first and we'll have to wait until the weather warms up a bit for the kids to stand outside the store to sell them. There are soo many talented and giving people on these boards that I thought this would be the best place to ask for help from all over. Thanks in advance
  20. I posted in the off topic, but thought I might get more response here. I'm the captain of my son's relay for life team and after having a very successful raffle for a basket of air freshener type products (febreeze, glade, etc.) I thought it might be a good idea to do another one using all handmade items (Handmade creations lending a hand for a cure...or something like that). Anyway, I don't have time to make a bunch of stuff myself to put in the basket and thought it would be neat to get things from all over the united states and possibly from other areas. There are soooo many creative people with numerous talents on this board as well as caring and generous people that I'd start here with asking for donations for our basket. I'm not sure when we will be selling the raffle tickets just yet. I want to make sure I have enough to fill the basket first.
  21. those are really cute. Have you ever checked out www.crochetville.org?
  22. I bought my expression several months ago off Ebay and paid way less than in the stores. My sister is a scrapbooker so I gave her first shot at playing with the new toy. She didn't keep it very long but had a blast cutting out stuff with the cartridges that were supplied. I bought it to cut out fabric pieces to applique onto the fronts of my scented hot pads so I need to invest in another cartridge or 2 so I can get the templates I need but my interest is definately peaked with getting more info on the design your own using your computer.....so anyone willing to enlighten me more, I'd love to know. I've been inspired by this post so now that my housework is caught up, might have to get it out and see what I can do.
