  1. I want the one that smells like the store...so if Ezra smells like the store, please let us know how it compares, because I'm definately going to get some...if it's on the money.
  2. I buy Peak's Midsummer Night and it's an exact dupe of Yankee's.
  3. I LOVE ABERCROMBIE & FITCH! I searched forever and a day for that fo and couldn't find it anywhere. Had I known that RE had it (renamed Ezra), I would have gotten it when I ordered a bunch of samples from them. Has anyone actually tried Ezra to compare it to the real deal? Also, which supplier is Jody from?
  4. I think both NG and WSP have great FO's. I buy most of my FO's from NG though because WSP's shipping prices were outrageous, that was until they instituted the free shipping on purchases of $50 or more. So, I guess it depends on whether you want to, or need to, spend that much as to whether it will be worth it to you or not.
  5. FYI: It is advised that you pour your container wax at a cooler temperature to avoid excessive shrinking...not higher. I've use both J50 and J223 and would heat it at 200 degrees until fully melted and then pour into containers at around 160 degrees. If there's any shrinkage, it's usually minor and would only require a quick hit with the heat gun to level it out.
  6. I don't know what type of wax your using but...I couldn't get a single label to stick on any of my palm or other natural wax pillars I made, however, they would stick to all of my paraffin candles. Just thought I'd let you know in case you were using a natural wax.
  7. About a year or two ago, JoAnn Fabrics had them over in their candle section by their warmers. Don't know if they still have them or not since I moved to South Carolina and I haven't seen any JoAnn Fabric stores around here.
  8. Yes, you might get some black in the wax if you dip it, not to mention the huge carbon balls that zinc wicks make. If you're going to do that, make sure you trim first so that it doesn't fall into the melted wax. I prefer to use either LX, HTP or CD wicks, they don't mushroom as much as the zinc's.
  9. I sell my 1 ounce tarts, shrink wrapped, labeled and sold individually, for $1.00 each.
  10. Oh yeah, I remember you going crazy over it. It's definately a good one!
  11. You can get Issey Miyake at Save on Scents or Rustic Essentials, there may be other suppliers for it too, I just don't know who they are. Both suppliers have exact dupes. Issey Miyake is to die for...it's so fresh and clean...it could also be a unisex fragrance. It's one of my all time favorite men's scents...but I sure do love that Burberry Touch for men (Save on Scents)too...and Very Sexy for Men (Nature's Garden) is another great one.
  12. Burberry Touch and Issey Miyake!
  13. Yeah, it's a shame about Tradewinds. They have two of my favorite scents there that are often times out of stock and takes 6 months or more to come in. And as everyone else has said, emails are not answered. They lost my business too. I won't deal with a supplier that cares so little about it's customers that it can't even reply to a lousy email or keep their fragrance oils in stock so that we can depend on them being there in the future for our own customers. I guess they don't take their business seriously.
  14. What supplier is SW? And where the heck do you find the supplier abbreviations list? I saw it once, but now I can't find it again.....
  15. Tarts are easy, here's what you'll need: Pillar blend wax: 4794 seems to be quite popular, although I use something different. Quality fragrance oil: Peak, Nature's Garden, KY Candle Supply, Rustic Essentials, etc. There are lots of good suppliers out there, just do a search for one closest to you. Molds: You can purchase the standard scalloped 1 oz tart molds from a lot of suppliers or use your own, such as Candle Buddy suggested. I make a dozen one ounce tarts at a time, so I melt 12 oz of wax in a presto pot at 200 degrees, add desired amount of dye, mix well. Pour into pour pot, add 1 oz of fragrance oil at around 175 degrees, mix well, let cool to approximately 155-160 degrees and pour into molds. Let set up completely, then remove from molds....and you're done! See...it's easy!
  16. I use both SOS and NG. I only use SOS when I'm looking for a perfume dupe that I can't find at the other suppliers I use. I try to keep my suppliers to a minimum, but I'd have to say that the majority of my purchases are from NG.
  17. Oh no, why did you have to tell me that! I'm always looking for fresh clean scents, now here's another one that sounds divine. I've got a slew of samples waiting to be poured...no, no, no, I won't cave in! But thanks for letting us know, I'll definately keep that one in mind.
  18. Yeah, I remember when I first joined Candletech back in 2003. That was before the new board came into existence, Alan and Nachelle had the time to post, and there were lots of familiar names. There are so many new people that have joined now, that I don't know most of them. It's nice reading about the excitement of the new chandlers and their thirst for knowledge regarding the craft. I remember being totally obsessed for the first two or three years. I'd stay up late at night testing, think about it at night when I went to bed, then rise very early the next morning to start all over again...it was crazy. I'm sure many of the newbies are going through that phase right now. I have since slowed down, but still enjoy working with wax. After a six month break from making anything, I recently made two sets of pillars and a whole slew of tarts. My pillars didn't turn out quite the way I had envisioned them, but I'm sure that's because I haven't made anything in so long....but I'm sure I'll be at it again in no time. Anyway, this is still an enjoyable place to be and we wouldn't have it if it wasn't for the generosity of Alan and Nachelle, the moderators and other contributors to the board...so thanks to all of you!
  19. I've purchased both the SOS and Ultra Concentrates, but never the Extreme. I think the Ultra works great for candles, the SOS for B&B and sometimes for candles and tarts, depending on the scent...it's really hit or miss with the SOS, but I just can't see spending the kind of money they want for the Extreme when the others work so well. I'd still be curious though to see if it was worth the money or not, so keep us posted.
  20. Jodi: Rustic...in candles...doesn't mean the color is rustic...it's the texture. With these, they can be any color and still be considered rustic as long as the texture is there.
  21. Lovely candle and very nice color. I actually prefer a rustic with very little to no frosting, so for me...it's perfect!
  22. You can still get a steady supply of OK6228 at Tristate Candle Supply in St. Albans, West Virginia. I don't know if this supplier is close to you or not, but they have a wax special going on right now for OK6228 at $1.04/lb.
  23. I just realized I made a mistake...that should be 12 oz of wax per 1 oz of "SOS" grade of FO.
