Someone was qurious how my soap turned out from this recipe: 70% Coconut Oil 76 30% Refined Shea Butter 20% Super Fat I did CPHP w/ Sandalwood Vanilla FO. I really love how this turned out. Having used the soap after 48 hrs, my skin feels squeeky clean yet not dry. No aftershower film feeling. Lather is surprisingly creamy and wonderful. I just love it! I used the same body lotion I've been using afterwards but my skin feels so much smoother, soft and supple. I love taking pictures so here's a picture of it. I didn't add any colorant but the soap turned out creamy white.

OMG, cutting my CP castille log soaps is going to be a breeze . I'm dancing happy, happy joy joy right now. Does he ship reasonably fast? I can't wait to get it.

Here's a picture . I love the feel on my skin - very balanced in the cleansing and conditioning. Very nice lather and the Sandalwood Vanilla (Snowdrift Farm) fragrance is to die for! I think that the long list of recipients of my soaps during the holiday gift giving will be quite pleased. First of all, I can't stop making soap so I must give them away. I'm in the process of making (CPHP) a Sandalwood Vanilla scented of this recipe: 70% Coconut oil 30% Shea Butter (refined) 20% Super Fat I'll update you guys in a few days after I've personally savored this soap. I finally learned how to use Soap Calc 9 and been having so much fun creating my recipes. This particular recipe is inexpensive yet luxurious - IMHO . I did CPHP. I used to use OO but definitely prefer RBO which is so much less expensive. Thanks for the RBO recommendations, otherwise I wouldn't have known. I purchased all my supplies from Soaper's Choice - love that store! With this soap scented with the Sandalwood Vanilla, I shower multiple times a day. Vegan Soap Coconut oil 76 30% Castor oil 10% Soybean oil 20% Rice Bran oil 20% Palm Oil 20% Fragrance: Sandalwood Vanilla (I'm in love with this scent!) Hardness 42 Cleansing 20 Condition 53 Bubbly lather 29 Creamy lather 31 Iodine 70 INS 142

I'm going to attempt CP again instead of just HP all the time. I'm trying to find the easiest way to line my wooden mold. Can I use a plastic trash bag to line it? I line this way with HP so I was wondering if CP is any different. Thanks!

You are just awesome! I just went to Walmart today and was staring at the huge tub of Lard and thinking of maybe adding it to my soap recipe, lol. Thanks so much. I'll be visiting the soap calc to really learn how to create a soap recipe. That sounds like fun . BTW, can lard potentially cause any unpleasant odor in soap - like fishy smell? Was wondering what makes my CP batches still smell like fish when it hits the water. I made a couple CP batches when I first started 6 months ago and still smell fishy (only when I use it in the shower). My CPHP never smells like that. Could it be the high Canola I'm using? Hi everyone, I have been learning how to use the MMS Lye Calculator, thanks to a lot of very nice patient people on this board. Calling the experts once again to check my recipe before I try it. I want to get rid of OO from my recipe due to the expense and what I've read about RBO as a wonderful substitute. I'm also looking to cut down on cost without sacrificing quality. These are the cheaper ingredients. I also like to do larger batches to save on time and effort. Oh, I only do CPHP if that matters. What do you think of the outcome based on this recipe. Hi, I made these last week-end CPHP. I swear it's soap, lol! I'm going to give them as stocking stuffers for Christmas. I can't wait to see the reaction. I must label them SOAP in big bold letters . I mixed 3 FO's -- Coconut Cream Pie, Country Berry Hotcakes and Purely Peppermint. It really smells edible, so yummy. Very creamy and bubbly, too.

I still use commercial liqued soap and my fave at the moment is Tone Exotic Fusion - amazing fragrances and moisturizing. I like my own CPHP soaps but I get tired of the same old scents so I have been giving them away.

Definitely Peak Candles. It's the exact duplicate of BBW's.

I package mine in cello bags, pack them in a priority mail box with peanuts, packing paper, air bags depending on how full the box is. I always mail mine priority mail since my customers get it quick and boxes are free. Go to usps.com and order you some if you haven't already.

Thanks so much Carrie! I have (3) 4 lb loaf molds that's why I always make a 4 lb batch. With your recipe, I can definitely use up the gallon of Castor oil I bought a month ago. This soap making has been such a great addiction for me since I've lost 10 lbs. I don't think about eating unhealthy foods that much anymore. I'm such a recipe person and was anxious to try CP. After reading extensively about the procedure, dangers of lye and the precautions needed to be safe, I took a tried and true recipe especially for beginners from another board and stuck with it. 15 batches later, I decided to tweak it a little bit since I bought a few more ingredients. Having said this, I will definitely learn how to use the soap calc and actually excited to do so. I can make my own soap formulations depending on the ingredients I have. I apologize to everyone for being so sensitive and it wasn't my intention to hurt anyones' feelings. I'm perfectly aware of the dangers of lye and have seen the injuries caused by it where I work in the Burn Trauma Unit as a registered nurse. Our state has heavy meth users who mess with lye all the time. I take strict precautions when soaping. It would be quite embarassing for me to end up as a patient in my own unit, not to mention the painful process. I've also used someone elses CP soap bought from a powerseller on eBay. My skin became very itchy which I attributed to lye content in the soap. I and my family have never had this reaction to my own handmade CPHP soap. Okay, I need to stop rambling and check the link to the soap calc. I'm going to learn this stuff and keep having fun soaping. Thanks everyone! I love this board!! Stephanie

I did not find this post helpful at all. In fact, it's quite rude and full of assumptions. I have made 15 batches so far out of a 4 lb recipe someone provided me a few months ago. I find soap making quite fun. Anyone with common sense can handle lye properly if that's what you were referring as "serious". I merely asked for help which the 2 previous posters were so willing to do. I suggest you not respond at all if you don't have anything helpful to say.

Hello CP veterans. I have been using the same recipe for my CPHP soap but I have castor oil that I'd like to add that also. Could someone please give me the exact recipe for a 4 lb batch since I don't know how to use the soap calculator. I'd rather just make soap from a recipe if you know what I mean. Okay, so here goes the ingredients I have. Coconut oil Soybean oil Olive oil Canola oil Castor oil Shea Butter Lye Purified water My CPHP soaps from my original recipe have lots of lather and my skin allergies have completely disappeared since I started my own soaps. You can also double glove by using vinyl underneath and nitrile on top. I'm also allergic to latex and I use nitrile gloves without any problems.

Hello everyone, I just bought 40 lbs of coconut oil that came in a sealed large pail. I can not remove the lid to save my life! I used a hammer to pry the seals, a big screw driver. and several other tools to no avail. One side of the lid is basically mangled but nowhere close to even opening. Is there a "lid remover" tool I can buy from Home Depot or Walmart? This is my 2nd day of trying to open this container. Definitely putting a damper on my soapmaking.
