  1. Thanks everyone! I've been away and now I'm thrilled to find all these great information about my search. I'm thinking of ordering the one from eBay. Thanks again.
  2. Hi all, does anyone know where I can get a miter box or soap cutter box that will allow me to use my favorite serrated/wavy hand cutter. All of the soap box cutters I've seen online only accomodate the straight blade. Finding one will definitely enhance my soap making spree. Thanks!
  3. Thanks Tracey. That's what I was going to do if no one answered. Now I feel better. I just love doing CPHP!
  4. Hi all, I saw one thread about adding stearic acid to CP but not CPHP. I read 1% per pound. If you're making CPHP soap (oven method), at what stage do you add stearic acid. Is 1% per pound the correct amount and will it affect the soap in any way other than making it harder? Would love your help on this. Thanks.
  5. I love them both! The green one is uniquely beautiful. Lovely soaps .
  6. Thanks so much for the great info! Now, I have more reading to do tonight because those are excellent links you gave me. Let us know how it goes once you finally do this and which method you used. I'll do the same .
  7. Wow, those are beautiful soaps!! I love the swirls and the colors.
  8. Hi everyone, I was just wondering if M&P soap only gets better with time like CP soap. I have 4 lbs of Goat Milk M&P from WSP and would like to melt the whole thing and scent it with my favorite FO. I just don't want them to get dry or go bad if I don't use them right away. Thanks. Also, I would like to start making liquid soap per the instructions from the Soap Dish - link from this board. I've been making CPHP soap batches like crazy for the last 2 weeks and just absolutely loving it! I already bougt my KOH and I will be using the Coconut oil recipe. Somewhere along the instruction page, it said to add Borax -- is that necessary? Also, when do you add your FO and do you need polysorbate 20? I have not been able to do my spring cleaning because of my new addiction, lol! Is their soap addicts anonymous in case it get really bad?
  9. Those are BEAUTIFUL! You are very, very talented .
  10. Having made several batches of CP; 1 rebatch and 2 CPHP (oven method), I vote for CPHP anytime. A little more involved (not hard) but very gratifying! I was able to use them in the shower the next day ---- what a nice treat. I'll be doing mostly CPHP from now on. So many scents to try. Oh, I also like that the scents and colors stayed true. 1st photo is my Oatmeal Milk & Honey, 2nd photo is Green Clover & Aloe -- just awesome and both from Sweet Cakes ( my latest favorite FO supplier).
  11. I'm afraid you're right, ashleebeans. The cut Baby Powder soap bars are fragrancing my house really nicely. I bought the FO from NG. I'm really not fond of the Baby Powder scent in soy tarts that I make but it's beautiful in CP soap. I will definitely stick to 1 oz/lb. Thanks.
  12. Thank you once again ladies for the quick answers. I'm only making my scented CP soap for use by adults in my family and some friends. I'll stick to the recommended usage. Great info as usual!
  13. I've searched the forum for an answer but can't find one so please bear with me. Would it be okay to use more FO than the recommended 1 oz per pound CP soap batch? If I make a 3 pound batch, can I add 4 oz of FO? I made a 3 lb batch and added 4 oz of Baby Powder FO since I thought that the 3 oz wasn't strong enough when I was mixing it. I hope it doesn't ruin it. Thanks.
  14. I like the creamy pastel color. Isn't it rewarding to make your first batch? Great job!
  15. I'm sorry to hear of your mishap. I hope you're doing fine. Great looking soap -- very natural. Great advice from these experienced soapers.
  16. Oh wow, they look delightful! So unique and definitely inviting. I bet they smell great.
  17. Wow, you make beautiful soap. I just love the swirls. You're my role model .
  18. Thanks to everyone for their kind words, compliments and encouragement :smiley2: . I love this board!!
  19. Eugenia, thank you so much for that info. That is so cool! It gives me more reason to keep making CP soap. The curing period is definitely the down side of CP soap. I couldn't wait to try the CB Hotcakes soap so I cut a piece and using it as a hand soap. It has great lather and smells good but it's gel soft. The bubbly lather is really nice. I also make MP Goat Milk Soap which has a creamy lather but nowhere bubbly like the CP. Sue Ann, I'll share some of my CP soap with you once it has cured 6 weeks. That is if you don't mind being a guinea pig . My 2nd batch I made yesterday is Iced Orange Pineapple (OMG, it's smells great), 3rd batch I'll be making tonight will be Purely Peppermint, 2 more batches tomorrow will be Pink Sugar and Black Raspberry Vanilla. Thank goodness, I bought lots of molds. I had a feeling I was going to love this!
  20. Thank everyone! Okay, since I'm going to make several more batches while I'm off work in the next 3 days I'd like to know the shelf life of CP soap after full cure. There's only 3 of us in my household although I can start giving them away to friends and family but some of them may not even want to try it -- don't want to waste my "babies". I would love some info on this. Gosh, I think this is so much more fun than candle tart making ---- I say that because I've been making tarts now for 2 years .
  21. Hi everyone, I just want to share a photo of my 1st CP soap. I'm so excited! I used a Shea butter soap recipe, scented with Country Berry Hotcakes from Peak Candle Supplies, color swirl is supposed to be Lilac from Crafter's Choice. It smells very edible, lol! Well, the mixture accelerated a bit when I mixed the scent so I couldn't swirl the color mixture as well and that's why the top isn't smooth. I guess I'm supposed to let it cure for 4-6 weeks before using. That's seems long to wait especially when I'm anxious to try it. Okay, I'll make the time pass by making several more batches :smiley2:. Thanks for looking! Stephanie
  22. I've been making soy tarts now for 2 years and haven't had a problem with candle nose or headaches since I always use a Fume Mask everytime I mix and pour. You can get it in any department store in the hardware aisle. It really helps.
  23. I love making tarts so much that I started selling them on eBay for cheap and I have 80+ FO's and adding more! This is just so I can keep making them and not accumulate in my basement. So far, it's working great. eBayers love it, too! I'm still not satisfied so I started making scented MP goat milk soap - talk about addicting also. I'm one of the ultimate scent addicts. The plus side is I lost 20 lbs since I lost my addiction to food ever since I started my hobbies. Welcome!:whoohoo:
