  1. http://www.pylamdyes.com/candles.html We bought some powder dye from them back in the 70's and it looks like they are still in business. I remember they had tons of colors to pick from while pourette only had a dozen or so. They were cheap and by the pound too if I remember right. Looks like you have to contact them to get price info, I didnt check out all the links there but it looks more like an info site rather than an ordering site. If you want red.. I bet they have a dozen kinds of red. Its hard to get a "christmas" bright red in dye, I know that for sure. Bruce
  2. Those take sooo much longer to make too. I have seen the hand made ones selling for 75 cents up to several dollars a stick. Its a yahoo group if I remember right if you want to take a peek. Bruce
  3. Im a member of a newsgroup that is about making home made incense, the "real" stuff. They look at dipped incense about the way we look at making candles with lead wicks. LOL Fun to read but I never post there... Bruce
  4. I think it would be a good idea to try it anyway and see how it goes. I dont like the hand cleaner/soap with grit in them. Bruce
  5. Could be that there might not be many chandlers around willing to take on the huge added responsibility of making lotion candles. You being the manufacture will be the one that takes the hit if some fool gets burned for using them the wrong way. This puts a whole new light on the order if you ask me. You will not just be making them you will be responsible for them and their proper use. I don't know how it works over there, but here you would be regulated as a cosmetic and have to follow their labeling rules also. Heck this "customer" they are talking about might even be a candle company that don't want to manufacture them their selves for liability reasons! I would drive myself crazy with this one, glad its you that has to decide and not me. whew Bruce
  6. I bet they are calling a "good" incense one that you roll yourself with resins, spices and EO's.... thats what most pros call a "real" incense. They are just trying to seperate the homemade rolled kind from the fragrance oil dipped kind. Bruce
  7. My sticks ALWAYS give off black when you first light them BEFORE you blow them out... then its just white smoke. I tell people to wave them around a little as they are flaming which will help with the black smoke. Its just the oils burning off so the charcoal can start burning. Bruce
  8. BTW tommy chong is posting on youtube now hes still funny. Bruce
  9. You website is one of the best looking ones I have ever seen. Very very nice. Great looking products too. How long have you been making candles? Bruce
  10. Listed on ebay that I thought were interesting and thought I would share. Every now and then I type in sand or water or carved on ebay to see if there is anything new or interesting. This is a new seller with no feedback from canada but the candles look very nice. Check all their listings to see more. http://cgi.ebay.com/B-C-handmade-candle-drift-wood-beach-sand_W0QQitemZ120099946490QQcategoryZ50406QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Cheap starting price too! Bruce
  11. Same here but for 30 years I have ordered from them and always got the 40% discount. I posted in another post that I thought they changed the discount program several months back but I didnt need anything at the time that I saw it and didnt read up good on what it said. I need some stuff soon so I guess I will find out more when I call them with the order. Bruce
  12. That picture is just like what he had on the display packed with shea telling everone it was a shea nut First thing he did was ask me if I have ever seen a shea nut, I said no and he said after he got his display set up he would bring one out. It was just for display since his shea was in other containers for retail. Ummm, his packaging was not up to par so he was not going for the high end consumer. No label just a 4 ounce plastic condiment cup with lid and 2 other size plastic containers that looked like they came straight from the local grocery store deli minus the ham salad. Yep fancy smancy so I do think the price was high... Bruce
  13. I have some clamps that keep the molds from leaking that came with my plastic molds. If I didn't have them or they were not working I would clamp as best I could and then put the mold down in a bucket of sand and cover it up with only the top exposed. That will work super good and if it did leak it would be minimal and the sand would stop it almost immediately. Bruce
  14. Well that figures I would be fooled like that! Im gona get some pictures off the net and hope he sets up close to me next week so I can plaster them on my booth! LOL Bruce
  15. There was a dude at the fleamarket that looked like he just came off a plane from Africa. (from how he dressed to how he talked.. loved to hear him talk)He was selling raw shea in small tubs at a booth down from me. The largest size was about a half pint which he wanted $25.00 for... oops not me thank you! Anyway he had a shea nut at his booth packed full of shea butter. That sucker was quite a bit larger than a basketball and was JAM packed with shea. Im not sure if thats the way it came solid in the nut or if it was placed in the shell but it was a cool site to see. I had no idea that the shea nut was that large... and made for an impressive display too. Just thought I would pass this along as I was shocked when I seen it in person. Cool Bruce
  16. OH now your bringing God into this hey? Do you speak in tounge too? :tiptoe: Bruce
  17. Foho is for women but i have been called a Fopimp before.
  18. I have pepsi crates of one ounce samples from about 25 suppliers laying around here. Well over a thousand of them are 90% full. The other thousand+ are just for sniff factor.
  19. I just checked it out and it was 60% shipping to Missouri for a case of that wax, but I'm not so sure the cart is accurate on wax shipments, you might want to give them a call and check. I guess ups still has the 200# discount on shipping which could help also.
  20. I have seen ones like this before and like the idea that you just fill up the whole top with wax and let it flow into the votive holes. You dont need to repour since you have about a half inch of wax above the holes so when its setting up than extra wax is like a repour and gets sucked down into the mold. Then you just scrape the extra wax off and save it for the next batch. Looks like they are poured upside down with the top inside the machine which would make for a more uniform looking votive... but not one that I care for myself. Cool idea from a geeks point of view. I like the melt molding machine the best that sucker could come in handy. Click on some of the other links there and take a peek. Bruce
  21. Would look very nice on lighter candle. Doesnt look bad on the bright dark ones but I think it would pop out on the lighter ones better. Nice idea. Bruce
  22. I have a note book with the past pours. We pour 18 of each scent and do 25 batches in a day. We only make one size jar so each batch is about 7 lbs. We did melts tonight, just made up a list and poured 24 of each and I think we are up to about 20 scents as I take a break for a few minutes and check emails and CT. Buttered Popcorn makes a great smelling melt BTW. Bruce
  23. Plus the paraffin wax dips come off they don't go into the skin. When you rub the massage candle on the skin it sinks in and you are now dealing with a cosmetic item and that's a whole new ball of wax... pun intended.
