  1. Hey, thanks again everyone! I thought this thread was looooong gone, but I dont think many people get tired of hearing praise about their work. I just need to make more of that kind of stuff, but it takes more time to do than pouring jars, and jars get the repeat sales, soooooooo. Bruce ... PS... did I ever tell you all that I won a prize for the "most ugly candle" on another board a few years ago? LOL I did, so it aint ALL good.
  2. Sams club was where we got all of ours too. We have had some cheaper models and other brands but you get what you pay for. If they dont cost you right at $200.00, you are not getting the good stuff. Bruce
  3. Oh great.... now my head is starting to itch! Bruce
  4. I wouldnt go over 400.00 to 450.00 with shipping since when you buy them new, they will give you free shipping most of the time...mine was free shipping from them. Bruce
  5. I use those oven gloves like posted in the picture a few posts back. You can get them at walgreens, I have like 3 of them now. I use a hot plate to warm the pouring pots and then use paper towels to get the wax all out. If you want to clean up other things, the orange wipes (like handi wipes) work great for taking wax off stuff. Viva paper towels are the best at cleaning up wax from your pouring pots. I have tested them ALL and they are the softest and most absorbant, just what candle makers need. Bruce
  6. LOL Thats why I buy the tealights made up, 100 for 3.00 and throw away the wax (or use for melts) use the metal cups and sometimes the wicks even work with my wax. Saves a bunch of cash from buying the wicks and cups new. Bruce
  7. I always heard the "a" at the end of NagChampa was silent....? Nog Chomp Bruce
  8. I dont wear it (since its for women lol) but I really really like Be Delicious by DKNY. I smelled that a year ago and just found the perfect dupe of it about a month ago. That stuff is NICE! Bruce
  9. Take your water candle and put in a bucket or large box and then fill the box up with about 20# of ballistic gel, let is set until solid, that should do the trick. http://rumkin.com/reference/firearms/ballistic_gel.php
  10. How about you post a link to where you have bought the shea butter massage oil candles and we will take a peek and see what its all about? Im guessing shea butter will burn/melt with a wick, but I see no point in doing this when you can warm it up in many safer ways. You must be in the StLouis area with that prefix, we were 314 before you guys in Stlouis stole it from us about 15 or 20 years ago. LOL Bruce
  11. I find the thin wall apoth jars to be better than the thick ones for heat. The heat stays with the thick wall jars more and I have seen only the thick wall jars crack in my testing. I had some of the 3X3 square votive holders with thick glass blow up in testing also. Doesnt yank..ee use thin wall jars? I think most of the large companies use the thin stuff. That might tell ya something? Bruce
  12. Ummmm, maybe for this year you should try something else. Carved candles can take lots of money to get into and not everyone can do them. My wife has been hanging out with me for 24 years and has only made a few that she thinks are good enough to sell. Really all you need is a few folgers cans full of wax, a bucket of water and a knife to get you started. Dip a star taper candle about 30 times in the wax and water back and forth.. then cut the dickens out of it. Bruce
  13. Thats what I think too grumpy. At those high temp the scents will flash off in no time. I think its just as important to test the melt pool temp of a tart burner just like you would test wicks, scents and jars in a container candle. I do know that some melters are made for warming oils ontop of water. Thats why the warning labels all say to use a "tart" approved melter. I have a dozen of the bc ones now and Im getting ready to label some eo's so I can have something to sell with them. I just dont like the idea that the melters have a note inside that tell how to use them for EO's and nothing about wax. Bruce
  14. Touch of brown = ivoryTouch of red = pink Ivory of a shade of brown, Pink is a shade of red.
  15. I have a candle that I named "tell me this don't stink" Maybe I could use that for my logo? Really, its a nice scent. Bruce
  16. I got the white electric tart warmers from BC and I have a problem. I first noticed a note in each box that talked about how to use it for EO's, with water and then a few drops of EO floated on top. I tested the temp with as much wax as I could get into the thing and it went over 200F, something like 215F if I remember right. I dont really feel like selling them for tarts because I think this is too high of a temp for ANY kind of tart. Side note, the bath and body store in the mall where my show is has a oil burner with a tealight and the burner had tons of smoke from the oils being too hot. I guess they have the oils to use in them now, I smelled cinnamon... burnt cinnamon. LOL Anywho, I have a few light bulb tart melters that keep the temp at 160F which I like much better than over 200F. Any ideas on what you think is the perfect temp for a tart melter? Hey, I just thought of something, someone was talking about a deal where a candle melt pool should not be over 175? on a 4 hour burn..? Sounds like maybe that would be a nice temp for wax to stay at. Bruce
  17. Tell them that it might be better to learn from a larger company since you don't have the time to train anyone and that they should contact Yank-ee candle company and they should be able to fix them right up. Its much better to train from a company thats been around from many years anyway. Bruce HA HA HA HA HA HA
  18. 40 cases to a pallet, so thats about 2200 Lbs. of wax. I think some of them come 32 on a pallet too, maybe the 60# cases.. if they still make them. Bruce
  19. I have made them before. Take balls of hot wax, stack them up and throw some sticks in there for arms. I made a cool hat for my snow man, kind of what zoro would wear. Bruce
  20. My shipping quote this time was just under $8.00 a case. (pallet quantity and shipped by truck line) Might be worth doing a coop for some of you that live close to each other. Bruce
  21. Well, you sure aint gona see mine on here! LOL I have been crazy busy, poured over 800 half pint jars in 3 days! We used 2 days to pour and the other day to get them on the stock shelves. Hard to do it when you have a show at a mall 30 miles away, but my kids are helping more and more. None of you all know what messy is, my work area defines the word. If you dont have to crawl over stuff to make candles, I have you beat. Bruce
