On the subject of sunburns.. I'm curious about something....
Mind you, I'm not contradicting ya'll, since I don't know and have never tried shea butter.
When I was young, we were taught to put butter/margarine on burns, like stove burns. Over the years, they said that it was just an old wives tale and would actually make burns worse, to run under cold water. Isn't shea butter oil based like butter? Or is it because sunburns are different from contact burns? Or is the whole butter/ice water just an old wives tale in whole?

Those are just great!

And now we have the old board as an archive! Soo much good stuff there
-
Nope, but since it's up as an archive, maybe you can find it again

And yes, ingredients are supposed to be listed in order of quantity I believe, but I don't know that it's guaranteed. Besides which, without knowing quantities, it can be misleading, there could be just a fraction of a difference. As in 20.19 oz of one, and 20.14 oz of another, so they're actually about equal. I tend to generalize a large size difference in a list at first glance, without knowing just how much there really is
By the way... I'm told Glycerin is supposed to help counteract they dryness of M&P bases. I have a couple from different suppliers, but since I "doctored" mine, I can't can't say anything about a straight base.

Nice job

That looks so cool!

Looks like a confetti party! Very pretty

That is just fantastically awesome! Congrats!

I know this isn't very technical, but I poked at mine after about 15-20 minutes to see how firm it was. If the first layer wasn't too wiggly right underneath the skin, then I could pour the second layer. After I did the first few, I knew when to pour again.
"Not too wiggly" sounds just technical enough

Hmm...
Black Cherry
Moonlight Path
Red Clove
Spiced Apple
None of these smell fruity or bakery to me and strike me as working well with darker colors

Pandon me, kind SIR
There was a thread in the old board about doing a candle like you've mentioned... I'll have to go poke around and see if I can find it

Yes Sharyl I think it should be fall and winter scents.
Ohh, now it makes sense....
Moo had made a comment on one of my summer ones about picking such an odd scent for summer. I had no clue there was a theme

LOL, I would have thought you could give her an answer instead of just racking up posts.
That was my way of bumping her post back up since it was almost at the bottom of page with no answers, not trying to rack up posts
Apparently I read it wrong.. I thought she was asking how to make paraffin for some odd reason
And her other question still isn't answered.... to me it's a hard question. And since that was the thread name, that was the question I focused on.

What a neat idea I want a rose bush like that

that is beautiful. I just don't understand how you can get all that embedded before it starts to set up. You are so talented
Not Donita here, but... it's not embedded. She creates the design on the side of the huricane, petal by petal. I can't even imagine having that much patience...lol

I love the packaging, the candles too. I'm sure she will love them
-
That is just too cute
Will the 3 yr old understand that it's not a toy?
-
Granted, I've not tried it, but I was told the 3" was too small for votives. Something about it not having enough shrinking room and would end up a wrinkled

I started with an embossing gun fro Wal-Mart. They were the same price as the heat guns. It lasted one day. Second one lasted one week. Maybe it's just a bad brand, maybe I'm just too rough on them...lol. They're made for light duty use, just a few minutes at a time. Some of the tops I was trying to smooth were really bad. Some look like the ones in that link, some look like hair dryers. They all blow hot air. The difference is how hard they blow and how hot they get. Hair dryers can get hot, but blow very hard. Embossing guns get very hot, but blow gently. Heat guns get a very hotter usually and blow harder. There are different styles and setting, but don't worry too much about it, whatever kind you get should be fine. I didn't have much choice here. Wal-Mart was the only place locally that carried them and they only had one
