  1. Yeah, the first things on my list is getting FO's to try and molds, and of course melters. I do have the IGI 4630 wax already. Sidenote...where do you get insurance from?
  2. and it doesn't melt? I will try that. I still like the break away ones from bizzy. it looks like she pours them and sells them in the same plastic containers. Thanks everybody.
  3. Yeah, i will check at sams club. And you just pour right into them? At what temp? (hey do you have a website i could check out?)
  4. Where do you get the plastic cups from? Bizzy B's looks like those little cups they put condomints in when you get take out. I should ask her. :smiley2:
  5. What about tarts? I could sell tarts while i perfect my candles. Thanks for all the info guys! :smiley2:
  6. i like that! that is easy enough. Maybe i will start out selling tarts while i perfect my candles. i like the whole no flame bit. Thanks Wookie.
  7. now another question...is LX really better than CP or Zinc better then LX? Or is it just a matter or personal prefence? I would think that the size is what really matters (no pun intended ) Thanks for all your help. Amanda
  8. Where do you get the tart molds that break apart. I also saw on bizzy's b website her chunk tarts that were in little mini plastic cups. I wonder do you just pour into those little plastic cups? Won't it melt the cup?
  9. I am seeing a lot of tarts being offered. How do you go about and test tarts since there is no wick?
  10. Thanks, that makes so much more sense now. I see why everyone is always saying testing this and testing that. Wow that is going to take a lot of time. But once i start burning what am i looking for?
  11. I am using the 16 oz jelly jars, the IGI 4630A from peak, and i got the FO from ascent.com and i would like to test the clean cotton (yankee type)
  12. O.k. I bought a master wick sampling kit from Lonestar and i think i am confusing myself. Do i need to test one size from each type like LX, zinc, etc.... or do i test within the types. Like which LX size works best in the jars i want to use. Also do i need to test with all the FO i want to use even if using same wax and same size jar? Am i looking for what i like or is there something specific i should be looking for? Right now i am using IGI 4630A in the jelly jars from walmart. :undecided
  13. Thanks for the info...i was afraid of that. I have been into candles for a long time now but just recently started making them. I have made some container candles that came out great. I was planning on make just the containers with different fall scents and selling those in a few months but i guess you guys are right. I was just in a hurry to be ready by fall. :undecided
  14. I think it looks great. I made a chunk pillar one time that looked great but when i burned it after a while the wax came out of the little holes. Is that suppose to happen?
  15. what would be a good rate. i used that craig list and found this: Add your flare to a shared studio. Approximately 150 square feet of personal studio space in a 900 sq. ft studio in the Downtown / Tucson Arts Warehouse District. $135 per month plus one-fourth share of electric. Currently we have two spaces for rent or you could combine them into one for $250/month. All mediums are encouraged. We are an open-minded group. Existing artists in the studio are a ceramist and a lampworker. Concrete floors, high ceilings. We are located on the southeast corner of University and Main St. in the Dunbar Springs area i am so bad a estamating space. is 150 sq ft good? $135 per month?
  16. I am really just starting out. i have been doing lots of research on making candles and such but where should you really begin at? What about EIN number, registering with the state, logos, business plan, insurance, websites, business cards, ....the business side of things. Where do i begin? taxes, accounting?:undecided awwwww
  17. I love your website. I actually emailed you asking about the solidcactus that created the website. Is that right. Are they easy to work with? How does that work....having someone make a webpage for you?
  18. i saw a website with her candles were all white. i thought that was great very clean looking. So if i do that is that stealing? Can you ask first? I can't imagine that NOT using color is a trademarked or whatever. Is bear or moose or any kind of animal poop too? Or is it just good manners to not use it?
  19. Awe, that was very nice of you to say. Thank God us newbies have people like you around to get advice from Amanda:)
