  1. I'm a little confused between clear crystals and gloss poly (c-15). They are not the same right? Are clear crystals the same as aroma beads for car freshners? I have c-15 and aroma beads but if they're not the same, then I need some clear crystals! Where would I find some? ~TY
  2. I saw Top on here earlier, I'm hoping he chimes in too. Maybe he doesn't like me
  3. I got mine from Peaks, but it says the MP is 163 http://www.peakcandle.com/products/High-Melt-Straight-Paraffin-IGI-1260-CASE__PW1013.aspx Hopefully someone that knows will chime in later. I'm not really sure what characteristics to look for to create a custom blend. Thanks for the technical paper link. I never understood what the IGI site says either lol!
  4. I like the way your rustic is burning. That's pretty much what I would like to achieve. I was wondering too, if maybe mixing it with another wax, but I don't think I understand the whole picture with that. All I have to try with is some leftover 1343 and since that wax bulges, I don't know what the benefit would be? ETA: Just remembered I have a little 1260 laying around here too, hmmm....
  5. Very nice Jami That came out really cool! I was never good at that technique
  6. Bandito, I do prime all my wicks. I used to use 1343 as well, that's what the striped pillars are made of. I switched because I like the mottle effect better with 4045 and fo retention is higher.
  7. Thanks! I found only lime green and black come out pretty. All the other colors sucked, so I quit playing with em. I followed these instructions more or less: http://www.candletech.com/ideas/rainbowpillar.htm
  8. These are the mottles that I was referring to in my last post. The ones that are making me crazy! (http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52549) They all bulge, require hugging, and all have high flames at the initial lighting. Even if they have been trimmed to nubs prior. I have to put them out within the first 5-10 min and trim regardless. Then they burn fine for 4-5 hours. I'm not ok with bulging or hugging, and I certainly do not want to have to trim, light, put out, trim, and light again. 3% stearic, 1 oz. FO all PP. Is there anything that I can add or do to them that will decrease the sagging? And why on earth are non of the wicks working? I tried LX's with these too, but they did the same thing. I don't have any 27 ply and I think 24 ply is too small? And #2/0 is not even worth trying right? I wouldn't choose any of these wicks for this combo. But if I had to I think I would go with the #2. The FO is Indo Teak from GL, and I think that a #2 is outrageous since I wick down for it in my jars. I'm feeling lost, any help is greatly appreciated please!!! ETA & attach more photos: Is there anyway to make mottles burn the way my other candles do, or is that a vybar thing?
  9. Oh no, I know I'm not overdoing the FO. It's def the heat, my house gets really hot even if it's 70 outside. But what I'm saying is... if the FO seeped out and then you heat gun it back to norm, it's not really mixed back in with the wax and the heat from the flame could post the threat of the FO flashpoint. Am I making any sense here?
  10. oops... wrong forum, can this be moved? sorry... :tiptoe:
  11. I made some soy jars the other day and I really try to avoid using a lot of electricity, so I don't run my AC unless it's dire. Yesterday it was above 90. I had my candles in the cupboard and went to check on them. Sure enough they started getting a little melty and the FO was seeping. Of course I know that I have to keep the house cooler, but my question is: I know this happens to a lot of ppl in the hotter months. I've read that the solution is to just let the FO seep back in, wipe it up, or heat gun it. If FO is not mixed in properly with the wax, doesn't that pose a fire hazard because of the FO flash point? So if the FO did seep out and I heat gunned, isn't the candle ""not right" anymore? Hope this makes sense! ~TY
  12. Burned some more testers today. One in particular that stood out to me was the 30FB. Just like the other one, but non twisted. I noticed that the non twisted flame height was just fine, while the twisted one was high. For those you who twist, do you notice a higher flame height because the wick is unable to curl, or is it just me? ~TY
  13. Love your photography, display, label, and candles... Great job!!!
  14. Yuppers, time to make a bunch of testers with dif sizes again... containers are so much easier for me lol! Thanks!
  15. Hi Sabrina! Yeah... I tried LX's and because they burn down so much the flames got too high too. Though they burn perfect for me in 1343 regular and mottled, go figure. I just like the 4045 mottle better. I tried a #1 square and it made the wax burn all funny. I just don't get how I could wick down if I'm not even getting a good MP now...
  16. Ok 4045H, 3% stearic, 1 oz. FF pp, twisted 30fb. The MP is leaving a pretty thick shell after 4 hr. consecutive burns (I'm on the 6th). I cut the wick to a freakin nub, and the flames still getting high even after 30 min. I don't get it! It's not flickering or sooting, but I'm not getting a good MP. The other tester I made is the exact same formula, except a dif. FO. The MP is good. Both are consuming but the flames are just getting too high for my liking. Any ideas?
  17. Really? Fairy dust and twinkle toes throws really well for me in 444 I have to second the vanilla voodoo, I think that is the awesomist (if that's a word) scent I have. Really want to try MC's vanilla to compare. Cucumber Melon is super strong, ginger peach, bunchberry and moss, rosemary. Granted there are some that are weak, but the complexity, as you guys have pointed out, is superb. Don't give up on CC, try some more. Lyschel is really great to work with.
  18. I think it's perfect! I hope mine turn out as good. Where did you get the green leaves? I couldn't find any .
  19. Awesome job! I'm trying those tomorrow, wanted to give em for mother's day.
  20. I was going to, then I read the curriculum and it's all soap, which I don't do yet. I'm pretty bummed about it, wanted to meet some of you guys
  21. Thanks everyone. I use my crock pot, if I leave it on warm the wax stays at about 150, so I threw my soy in there and like it better than melting the old way. Only I wanted the spigot thingy, and the greenleaf one seems reasonably priced. Couldn't find one at my local stores, oh well. :smiley2:
