Ugh! Someone got to Walmart before me.....the bags at ACMoore (the large, 4x5 bags) were 99 cents, yes, 99 cents apiece. Luckily, the color I wanted, silver, were 1/2 price, (.49) and I got 10% off. Sooooooo, it turned out ok. But, I am placing an order before the end of the year for more bags for next year....don't want to get caught out again. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone!

Oh, thank you so much for the link! I am going to add the to my favorites. Also, my Walmart does have a wedding section, so hopefully I'll get there tomorrow (not sure with all this snow they're predicting). Yah, 40 cents is a bit, but hey, like you said, I need 'em now!! Thanks all!

I've called them once before...let's just say they're less than helpful. I know that they do have a craft dept. I was just wondering if anyone else had seen the bags there, that's all.

Update: The dollar tree in my area (central NJ) does not carry them. However, I did find some nice ones in Michaels. They were great because they were winter-ish rather than Christmassy( i.e. red and green etc.)

Hi all: I know you'll have the answer for me on this one. I am in Central NJ and need the large organza bags like yesterday. I am pretty sure that both Michaels and ACMoore carry them, but has anyone had any luck finding them at WalMart?? I need about 20 and I'm not too choosy about the color. I'd rather go to Wal-Mart because I'm pretty sure I can also pick up the hang tags to go on the bags. Thanks in advance.

I guess I didn't ask the right question - my fault Has anyone here used it in their recipes? It is any better or worse than shea or cocoa butter...or is it a matter of personal preference? Thanks again.

The only reason why I would prefer a solid scrub to a sugar scrub is that you don't have that slippery tub when you're done. However, I do love a nice whipped sugar scrub...slippery tub and all.

Any other suggestions are still welcomed.

I took your recommendation and not only did Soapers Workshop respond quickly to my email (I'm talking a matter of minutes here...), ship it flat rate, but my products got here within four days - I'm in NJ, she's in Utah (if I remember correctly). And my base is GREAT!!!!!

Wow, I just asked DH this question before I logged back on (yeah, like I ever log off ha ha). A friend of mine placed an order on the website. I know her, have worked with her, etc. etc. I am probably going to just drop it in the mail, because it's easier and she paid for shipping. Now if she had emailed me beforehand - I probably would have offered to drop it by. However, I think that you should go ahead and ship it. At least it's done and over with and you don't have to make arrangements about getting there, the customer being home etc.etc. When you drop off stuff there are too many variables and you're way too busy for that!

Hi! My suggestion is that you cut down on the cocoa butter to 1 oz at first. In my mp, I use up to @1.5 added oz of butters/oils in total. You might want to cut your beeswax down to 1/2 oz also. As for your lather, if the above doesn't work, I add a tsp or so of SLSA to my soaps for lather. Hope this helps!

Whatever you do, don't use cornstarch. It sticks in some rugs and is nearly impossible to vacuum up. Now that I've wised up, I use only baking soda and a touch of scent.

My supplier is not the same as hometown's supplier, but hometown's experience was a little more extreme than mine!! A little shea or stearic crumbs are nothing compared to pet hairs, yuk!

Oh my goodness, pet hairs???? I have curly hair myself and you'd better believe I've got those curls tied down tight when I'm whipping shea/melting soap, etc. Just to be sure no personal part of me, besides the love that I am putting into my product:wink2: , reaches the customer. And shame on her for sending a second set of samples with pet hairs on them too. Maybe the dog/cat works for her and helps pack the supplies!!!LOL

I'm glad I ordered the samples instead of a whole gallon at once. I'm going to check out a few other places that have "paraben free" lotion bases - I think Soaper's Workshop has some plus I'm going to check out wholesale natural body care. I was less perturbed by the shea grains than by the fact it took 14 days to receive from one state away!!! Thanks for the feedback ladies - I'm going to have to remember the "moisture shea beads" - sort of like jojoba beads, .

Yes, it was shea butter lotion. The problem is, I love it, it is very silky and sinks in so well! But between the wait time and the grainies-bainies..... I think I'm more disappointed because I really like the base!

I ordered lotion base from a company, whose name I won't mention right now, around the beginning of the month. Not only did it take over two weeks for the samples to reach me (even though the company is quite close to me) but one of the samples of lotion has little grains in it. Can any of you lotion makers hazard a guess as to why? I ordered three samples and two of the other samples, a "concentrate" and regular lotion were perfectly fine, so that leaves out it freezing along the way....besides it hasn't been that cold here in the East Coast. I am really disappointed because several people recommended this company and they offer preservative free lotion bases, but now, I'm a little leery about ordering because of the grain factor. I am going to send a friendly email to the company and ask about it.
