  1. Re: More lather -- I have used powdered SLSA for more lather - about 1 tsp per pound - I mix it with the fragrance oil OR you can mix it with a bit of oil (olive, castor oil, etc.) to a smooth consistency to mix in with the melted soap. Re: Fragrance oil - It depends on what the FO is. I usually add about 2-5%. Have fun experimenting!!
  2. Sharon, Let me suggest the circulars from knitpicks.com. The wire between the needles doesn't flip around and is very flexible. I've used the circulars from the store and I know exactly what you're talking about!!!
  3. Hi everyone! Thank you for the replies. The customer paid and everything, but.....I just don't want to put out more $$$$ to ship internationally. Plus, I don't like the way everything didn't add up. So, I am going to refund her $$ send her a nice note and move on. Stella, thanks for the info on how to delete other countries from the database - really appreciate that!!! Thanks again ladies!
  4. Hi Ladies: I opened a new webbie recently (finally learned zen cart) and got an order. Now I offer samples on my site for a set amount of $$ with free shipping. I got an international order for several samples. Problem is, it will cost me more to ship than I received in payment (by about 7.00). Also, the person's name and email they used to sign up with is different than the PayPal email and name (zen cart doesn't auto-populate the pay pal, so when I copied and pasted the address, paypal showed me a different email and name). Plus I can't get any info on this account because it's Non-us - unverified I am feeling a little "hinky" about sending this stuff out, going through the customs stuff, etc. I feel that after I put out all this money, I might get a chargeback or something. I know the amount is small, but I just don't wany any trouble Can any of you seasoned folks give me some advice? ps I am currently working up more Store policies indicating that I only ship to Canada to avoid this in the future.
  5. You can also take a look at the lip balm color from thesage.com. (MMS)
  6. That's good too - never thought of that.
  7. You also have to consider if you are adding a synthetic fragrance also. You could always market your body butter as being 95% natural, depending on how much of the cyclo and iso. you've added. Hope this helps!
  8. I've never done it - but I have scented laundry detergent that had no smell at all. If the shampoo is all ready scented, you would have to consider how the new FO will smell with the FO all ready in the shampoo. I would pour out about 4 oz and add about .5% FO-1%FO to start and see how the 4 oz reacts to the scent. Hope this helps!
  9. Thanks Ruina - I am going to order some clear soap base today from WSP. I have TONS of white soap base, but since I want colors that POP (smile) I've got to make the switch. I've got some clear-ish - SFIC shaving soap that I can play with a bit until the larger order comes in.
  10. I love making body oil sprays. I use a blend of fractionated coconut oil and grapeseed oil. Just enought oiliness to give you a nice sheen, but soak in right away with no oily afterfeel. You might want to try rice bran oil too - I've read that's a nice dry oil.
  11. Well color me silly because I never, ever thought about the whitener in the base. Thank you so much for the tip!!! And I think I'm going to start using Micas too. Select shades are cool, but sometimes I don't quite always get the color I want....and they're not very vibrant either. Thanks, again.
  12. Ok, for those who were wondering , it does not really work as well as I imagined. I mixed some (two/three drops) red lip balm color from MMS with some (approx 1 oz) jojoba oil and added it to the melted soap. It does not stay true red, but turns a pinkish type of color. Nice enough color, but I was looking for a more true red. So, I am currently researching melt and pour soap colors other than Select Shades (which I am currently using) to give me more vibrant colors.
  13. Thanks for the heads up everyone!! They're back up now so I can spend my $$$. How strange though - who would do something like that??
  14. Hi is anyone having trouble getting to Southern Soapers webbie? I want to order their Rooibos Tea scent and I keep getting redirected to google - I've used netscape and firefox too, thinking perhaps it was a bug in my Internet Explorer but haven't had any luck. I'm using www . southernsoapers . com as well as clicking on a link that I have in an email from them. Thanks!
  15. Hi all: I was cleaning out my fragrance stash and found that I had a couple of different Zen Teas that smelled similiar. Which leads me to the question: if and when you see a Zen Tea on a fragrance site, does that mean it will smell similar to the other Zen Teas on other sites? In other words is the name Zen Tea a certain name for a certain type of scent? thanks!
  16. Does anyone know of a supplier who carries a FO that is similiar in scent to Kangaroo Blue's Orchid? Thanks in advance!
  17. I really have to try Oils by nature - I read their getting organic butters too, so that's a plus.
  18. The large Chinese molds or the Diva molds. I pretty much like most of their stuff, so if they're something you'd like to sell....let me know what you have. But I'm especially interested in the Chinese molds. PM me! Thanks!
  19. I am making melt and pour soap, and was wondering if the lip balm colors worked in melt and pour soap. I was thinking since I already add some oil to the soap base, I would melt the colors with the oils, then mix in with the melted soap. Would this work? Thanks so much for answering!!!
  20. Wow. Thanks for the info Carole. She made really nice molds that you can't get anywhere else. oh well.
  21. Does anyone know what happened to Martin creative molds? They were at soapymolds.com. I visited the site and it's not there anymore!!! Lori had some of the nicest molds and I need some more.....please tell me she moved to another domain and did not close...
  22. That sounds like fun! I'm thinking key lime soap pie.......
  23. PrairieAnnie is the EXPERT in mp soap, so you can take her answers to the bank! If you're not averse to SLSA, adding a TSP or so of that will help your lather, but as PrairieAnnie said, don't add too much oils/butters!
  24. That sounds nice and romantic - perfect choice. ps my son LOOOOOOVES NASCAR (noticed your siggy)
