  1. I say go for it. Maybe make a limited amount of scents/colors so that you can make more at one time. The worst (and best?) you could do is sell out. Good luck.
  2. Thanks for all your input ladies. I'm going to take it back to the designer with some suggestions.
  3. Love the feedback!! Keep it coming. I like the idea of having the words inside of the leaf. I also like the idea of the words on top of the leaf. (the poor designer, right??) My personal fav at first glance is B (font seems a bit thick), but I like C too, but there's something about the both fonts is just not doing it for me. I think the suggestion of a different font is good too but I am looking for something that is clean/uncluttered, fresh, nature-inspired (ergo the leaf) with a bit of my fave color for a kick. Again, your comments are welcomed!
  4. I would just count them as income as their worth. For example, last year I got 50 bucks for opening a checking account and that was counted as income on my taxes. So if you got 100 worth, I would just count that as income of 100. I beleive that's the same thing you're saying.
  5. Hi all: Would really appreciate your opinion on my new logo. I am looking for something that looks upscale and high-end because I have my eye on trying to wholesale to day spas in my area. Please give me your honest opinion, as I know many of you have much more experience than I do. Thanks a bunch. In order: Logo A.........Logo B.................Logo C
  6. LOL, CareBear....but we do need a butters co-op. I missed the soaper's choice. Would the 50 lbs of butter come in a huge box or in one of those scary 4 ft high drums? By the way, one of Biochemica's distributors is wholesale supplies plus.
  7. You might also take a look at Aquatech's bases for shower gel. I like the hemp shower gel base as well as the suspending base.
  8. I have insurance and I carry all natural products. (and nearly all natural also). I'm a really good driver too, and I have car insurance. I am always of the idea- better safe than sorry. People can take my body mist and accidently spray it in their eyes and try to lay blame. You just never know and the 300 bucks it costs me a year is worth the peace of mind. I started out in Aug. 2006 and I got insurance in November 2006. It's really worth it!
  9. Oh wow, that's a great idea!!! I could never get brown with the MMS lip colors, so I went to the cocoa powder. But using fine coffee to color with straining of course, sounds like a great idea.
  10. I've used www.milanminerals.com. The link to her store is http://makeup.milanminerals.com/main.sc. Not sure if she's wholesale, but I love her stuff. She has a wide range of skin tone colors and makeup colors to choose from.
  11. I used mica (once) to color lotion bars. Didn't really care for the "dusties". I use lip balm colors to color my lotion bars (no water) now. I use "select shades" to color my melt and pour soaps. I don't color my body butters.
  12. I've used cocoa powder in coloring lip balm - I mixed it with the liquid oils, then added to the melted "solid" oils. Nice color and and absolutely no grittiness.
  13. That's excellent news! I am so glad it went well for you. It's exhausting though, isn't it??? congrats!
  14. Steph, does the suspending shower gel cloud up when you add fragrance? I am playing around with Aquatech's suspending shower gel and it clouded up on me. Thanks!
  15. Hi! I just received the satin and silk lotion base and like it very much. It's sinks in nicely and leaves smooth feel to the skin. Check out comments from their webbie here http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/ProductRating.aspx?ProductID=3284 Here are some forum comments here: http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62933&highlight=lotion+bases Hope this helps!
  16. Thanks for the webbie. I will certainly check them out.
  17. Hi all: I made some body mist in 4 oz bullet PET bottles. I used a 2x4 label which I sprayed with clear acrylic sealer. Lo and behold, some of the FCO ran down the label leaving grease marks AND the label started to peel off. Do you have any tips on how to keep this from happening? I've read that people use a regular label, then a larger, crystal clear label over that. Would that help? Thanks!
  18. It wasn't as bad as I though it would be. Mostly my friends and acquaintances and folks were really nice. I didn't give a presentation or anything, just talked to people individualll when they had questions. I thank all of you here who contribute to the discussions - I got a LOT of pointer of what to do, what to serve etc. right from here. This is truly a wealth of information!!
  19. www.tclaboratories.com, but I think they're under a new name like natural labs or something, but the link will take you to their newly named site. They make all sorts of lotion, (organic and otherwise) but their shipping was sooooo slow.
  20. That is wonderful news!! Your perserverance has paid off.
  21. I can't believe this. ::::sigh:::: I use the indulgence cream base and it works out so well. I don't make lotion...... Please, if anyone knows of a base with comparable feel, please let me know. I settled on Soaper's workshop after a bad experience with TCLabs. Please, any suggestions are welcomed!!
  22. Well, I did my open house yesterday and made almost 400 bucks in three hours. I was truly thrilled!!! I don't have pics....don't even ask why - I was such a bundle of nerves that I couldn't even write receipts and forgot to get names and address. (But these are mostly folks that I know, so it's not a BIG deal, but I wish I had been more efficient.) Anyhoo, I took the advice of many on the board, served light stuff like fruit, veggies, antipasto, crackers and juices. Hubby was VERY helpful in helping me narrow down the munchies. Some people stayed the whole time talking, munching and going back and buying other stuff after their first order was all ready complete!! I grouped everything by scent, and offered bath teas, megamix whip, soap, body oil mist, and lotion bars. The lotion bars didn't go over too well - I don't think people knew how they worked. My best seller was white tea and ginger (BBW dupe). My best selling men's was Unforgivable (Sean Combs, puff daddy, p diddy, whatever his name is now. LOL) Um, that's all I can think of for now....I just wanted to say thanks to the board for the wealth of info offered that helped me to do this. I am looking forward to mother's day.
  23. I wouldn't color massage oils either, but as ah soy said, you could use lip balm colorant but you would probably have to warm the oil a bit for the colorant to melt and disperse properly. For my lip balm and lotion bars I use the colorant from thesage.com.
  24. Wow, that's really strange that it would take them that long! I ordered from them about three weeks ago and it came in 2 days, since I'm in NJ. Maybe there was a glitch in the ordering process?
  25. Well, I figured it out! Turns out that it was the autoshape that was the problem. I tried to set it to transparent, but that didn't work. So I filled it with white (since I was printing on white paper) and "sent it to back" and that did the trick.
