  1. Looks great! Good luck at the show, you will do well!
  2. Wow, everything is so beautiful! I look at things on here, and every time I can't get over how creative everyone is with their packaging! I make candles, but all these beautiful soaps are making me jealous! I want to try to make my own! lol
  3. I am starting to get into doing shows. The thing is, I have a limited amount of money, and am afraid of going to a show in the Spring and not doing well. My question is, how many of you do Spring shows? Do you do well? I found a couple in March, April, and May that I can apply to if I want to. Is one of these months better than others? I know Spring is usually the slowest time of year for sales, but I thought about maybe giving it a try. Any suggestions? Any tips at all would be so helpful!
  4. I am 21....when I was 19 and in college, I wanted to do the whole get money quick thing, and I thought candles would be it. Boy, I was wrong! I am 21 now, still in college, and I am still testing, and spending way more money than I take in. I love every minute of it though. I never regret that I got into this. It is something that is going to grow slow, but now it is finally starting to take off for me. I have just hired someone to make my first real logo, and I am now undergong massive label changes to everything! The other ones are so ugly, lol...I never realized! Anyways, I guess what I am trying to say is that if you are just looking for money, then candles aren't for you. But if you think that it is something that you might really love doing for a long long time, then do it definitely, because the money will come eventually when you have a good, safe product that is made with quality. And it is satisfying to get such great reviews on your things, and you can look forward to knowing that people enjoy having your products in their homes. Hope that helps!
  5. Hi everyone! I have a question...I make container candles, but I want to start getting into votives and tea lights too. I use EZ Soy wax, and large zinc core wicks for my containers. What size wicks should I try with tea lights? Thanks in advance!
  6. Oooooh, okay, lol! I know that place, just never called it that, hehehe. I actually got some of my soy wax from there. Geez, these abbreviations are killing me! hehe
  7. Okay, I am officially curious....what is BCN? lol Is this a dumb question? Am I out of the loop? :smiley2:
  8. Hi, I am in search of some 8 oz. clear plastic or PET jars. I prefer straight walled, but other kinds would be okay too. I am looking for different suppliers to try to get a reasonable price. I live in Ohio, but would be willing to pay shipping from somewhere else if the price is right. I have already been to WSP, but I want to see what else it out there. Does anyone know of some good places to get these? Any links would be great! Thanks a lot in advance! Kathleen
  9. I am pretty sure that most of the time in consignment, they don't pay you anything up front. You get a portion after the final sale that you and the shop manager agree upon after they take out their selling fees. Sometimes this is good, sometimes bad. When you do consignment, you have to make sure that you are dealing with a reputable person, or you could have a lot of money/inventory go missing. I am pretty new to business, but my sister has had her own business for years in the antique field, and when she was new to things, she got taken advantage of a lot by people that took her things on consignment. They either said, "We don't have the money", "Come back another time", etc. etc. Or they would claim theft in some cases so they wouldn't have to pay at all. Since this is a hospital shop, it might be better for you, and they will most likely treat you better. You just have to be careful and keep records of everything. Wholesale is also another way to go. They can buy your items up front. If this shop manager feels confident that your items will sell in the gift shop, then they may not mind paying up front. You can do it either way. I hope that helps a little, anyways.
  10. Great looking site! I love your use of color and design, and you have such a great selection! The only thing was that your counter didn't work....it said you had 0 visitors. Maybe that is just me?
  11. Where is a cheap place to get those salts?
  12. Is there an additive you can add to bath salts to keep them from clumping up in the humidity? Any ideas would be great!
  13. Well, I don't think it is right to jack it up that much, but I think I would have to have a $.30 cent handling fee attached, otherwise, I would lose money. And if someone can't sell small quantities/items without making a profit, they will be forced to sell in bulk and people might not be able to afford it.
  14. Do you think just plain gelatin will work? lol I don't know if that was a stupid question or not, but hey? I could have some aloe jello!
  15. I have a question for anyone who sells on eBay. Those people on there that sell things for $.99 and things like that....and they accept Paypal, how do they deal with the fees? For instance, if I have a merchant account, and I sell something for $1.00, I have to pay a $.30 fee, plus a percentage fee of the dollar. If I have a personal account, there aren't fees, but people can't pay with debit or credit card, but that is why most people on auctions use Paypal in the first place, is so they can use their cards. Money orders take too long, and checks are iffy. I want to sell some cheap things on eBay, but I don't know how to get around those fees!!! Someone help!
  16. Yeah, I just don't know what you are supposed to thicken it with, and I can't find the exact recipe on the search engines.
  17. Does anyone know how to make the aloe gel out of the powder? I know you need to add it to a lot of water, and add a thickener to make it a gel, but what thickener do you use??
  18. No, I don't have a Pat Catans around me, but thanks a lot! Do you guys know of any online wholesalers that sell those? I will take a look at Wal-Mart and Michaels, but maybe I can get them cheaper?
  19. Where do you find those little metal pails that are good for citronella candles? I am having a hard time finding a place to get them! Thanks in advance!
  20. That is a great idea to offer to hold the purchases until they leave! How do you keep track of everything? Just write their name on it or something?
  21. Hi, I have started seeing water based fragrances....has anyone tried these yet? Are they strong? I was looking at them, because they seem like they would be nice to use for linen and body sprays because they will mix easily with the water. If anyone has used them or knows anything, please let me know! Thanks in advance
  22. Oh...well, the market is only open on the weekends, it is $20 per day. I was just breaking it down. Yeah, I was thinking I should just do it too, it is just that I don't really have a lot of money right now, lol...I think I will do it, it really isn't a bad price, just a lot for me to pay up front right now, you know? Especially since I have no idea of how I will sell. But I guess I can at least pull in my booth rent, lol. Thanks for the tips, everyone!
