  1. Hi, Michi, I don't think we have ever talked before, but I know what it is like to feel like ends can't meet. I have been looking for your Paypal address in here, lol...but I can't find it, there are so many pages. You have a lot of people supporting, and that makes me so happy I don't need candles, but can you send me your Paypal address so I can send a contribution? Thanks a lot, and take care! Katie
  2. I don't do votives, but with pretty much anything, I try to keep it in the same category...some people may only like the "bakery type" candles, etc. I know a lot of my customers are pretty picky when it comes to certain types of scents (i.e. Some HATE flowers, lol...I don't understand it) So when I do things, I try to keep them in the same category, so that they are most likely happy with all of the choices. That is just my opinion though, from dealing with my customers. But you just have to go with what feels right. Katie
  3. Bunny....I don't know, but I think you might be a witch or something, because whatever you did was pure magic! oh my gosh, it isn't even all the way cool yet, but it is already starting to get thick! Thank you SOOOO much! Katie
  4. Thanks so much guys for all your help! Bunny, you are a saint! I will post later to update...i am off to make my new and improved recipe now.....cross your fingers! eek Katie
  5. I knew I needed to get another one, but I figured this would be alright for now....I am just making it at home for now....I really want to make a good recipe, but I have to get my first one to work, lmao :rolleyes2
  6. Oh, we must have posted at almost the same time, lol.... Okay, I will throw those away and try the new ones, and update this as soon as I do. As for my scale, it measures in grams and ounces....it gets as small as 5 grams, and as small as .2 ounces.
  7. Yeah, I stirred pretty good with my whisk....it emulsified fine....I just can't understand why it wouldn't get thick, lol I will try it with the blender, and see if that helps. Can I do these batches with the blender (just to see if it helps) or should I just pitch this batch and start with Bunny's new recipe?
  8. Thanks so much Bunny! What is the difference between WSP E-wax and others? Is it made differently or something? Where would you recommend me buying it?
  9. I just used a whisk. Should I be using a mixer? And if so, is it too late to use it, or do I have to start another batch?
  10. well, these ones I only made about 4 hours ago...they are all cool now. But before, I kept the lotions for 2-3 days, but they never thickened. Could I be doing temperatures wrong or something wrong with stirring? Most of the recipes I found only give general instructions...so I am not so sure about if it needs constant stirring, or only stir every little while, etc. I am not sure if it even matters, but that is all I can think of.
  11. Okay, I have tried other recipes in the past, but I tried again tonight too, lol...One recipe I tried a while ago was one I think that was on that to die for site, and that didn't work for me either. I am measuring everything very carefully, but I think something in my process is wrong. Okay, here are the two recipes I tried tonight, both are from MMS: Recipe#1-(I cut in half to make a small batch) 2.5 grams Citric Acid 30 grams Liquid Glycerin 40 grams Stearic Acid 50 grams Emulsifying Wax 200 grams Sweet Almond Oil 660 grams water 10 grams Germaben II 7.5 grams Ginger Milk Fragrance Oil (or any other scent of your choice) Recipe #2 .1 oz wt. Citric Acid .3 oz wt. Emulsifying Wax .5 oz wt. Liquid Glycerin .4 oz wt. Stearic Acid 2 oz wt. Coconut Oil 6.9 oz wt. Water
  12. I don't know what I am doing wrong....I have tried like 7 recipes, and followed all the directions, my lotion emulsifies, but it won't get thicker than a milky consistency.... I wanted to make my own lotion, because bases can cost so much, and I thought that if I can come up with a good recipe of my own then it would be better anyways. Is there something I am doing wrong? I wonder if I am stirring too much/not enough? Can someone who makes lotion possibly give me some tips? Any help at all would be so much appreciated! TIA Katie
  13. CDGM, do you by any chance have a link? I looked, but I couldn't find the single clamshells there. Thanks! Katie
  14. Terri, Here is a pic, if that helps. http://www.ellensessentials.com/sampakinfo.htm They also sell them at Kangaroo Blue, and I few other places I believe. But it is nice that they will be getting them at WSP, because they are nice and close to me, so it is cheaper shipping when I make my big orders. I live in Steubenville....it is about 2 hours south of Cleveland.
  15. What is the difference between Polysorbate 20 and Polysorbate 80? I was looking at a site that had both for sale, but it didn't really say too much to differentiate between the two. Can anyone explain it to me? TIA Katie
  16. I have been having a pain finding them. Didn't WSP used to keep them in stock? I don't see any anymore. I am looking for those single clamshell molds for MP soap. Can anyone help? On a better note, I emailed WSP today asking if they can stock those foil sample packets, and they are going to get them in a couple weeks! YAY! I had found a couple other places to get them, but shipping was too much, and since I live so close to WSP and order most things from them anyways, it was great! :highfive: So anyone that uses those might want to check their site in a couple weeks Katie
  17. They sell that Roebic Crystal Drain Opener at Lowe's....it is 100% lye. I know sometimes it says all lye on the label, but then has those metal pieces and everything in it. So just to make sure, I read their MSDS sheet, and it really is all lye, and they sell the 2 lb containers for $7.66. I used it to make my first batch of soap, and it worked perfectly. HTH
  18. I need some ideas, lol....I got some 2x6 bath salt tubes to put mine in, but they sort of flop all over the place, lol I need something that looks nice, but I am having trouble coming up with ideas. Maybe I can think of something with your suggestions. TIA Katie
  19. Thanks a lot for the info, guys I now have a few places to look at :highfive:
  20. Wow, that is a great idea! Where is the best place to get those?
  21. Okay, thanks for the info I was reading everything I could, but I never heard anything mentioned about that, so I had to ask, lol Thanks a lot, guys
