  1. Okay, I just turned down a wholesale offer but I'm not sure if I should have. Here's the details: She wanted to show my products on her site, give her 30% discount on everything she sold, send me an email once she sold the product (from her site), have me drop ship the product...and then she'd pay me in 30 days. I didn't quite see why she would need 30 days to pay. I'm the one with the manufacturing overhead. All she's doing is showing a photo on her site. I offered her the opportunity to pay me by upon her sale of the product she, in turn, purchases the product through my website with an exclusive checkout code that would immediately give her the discount. Everybody wins right then...no waiting. She said she prefered her Net 30 payment option better. So...no deal. What am I overlooking? Is a Net 30 payment option normal for this kind of thing? TIA :smiley2:
  2. I think you misunderstood the instructions. You were suppose to dip the BEAR...not dip BARE.
  3. Some Banana Nut Bread FO's smell like cream corn.
  4. What a great story! Your photos are awesome!...what a huge supply you have. I'll bet it smells WONDERFUL in your shop! Congratulations!
  5. I pour my GL 70/30 blend at 175. I get smooth tops except for the nipple around the wick. I don't know how to avoid that but I don't worry too much about it. My DH calls them booby candles. Okay...on second thought...how do you avoid that?
  6. Very pretty! I like the last two.
  7. I have found that some FO's will causing sooting. With those, you back off on the load amount. When I've added less, I still got a nice throw as well as a clean burn.
  8. I love palm wax pillars. Your's is very nice! Pretty color, too. What scent?
  9. Wow! I love Wholefoods Market. Congratulations on them asking to stock your products!
  10. I love CandleScience and buy a lot of my FO's through them. My favorites are: Strudel & Spice Mistletoe Hansel & Gretels House Rain Water Lavender Vanilla Cinnamon Buns Black Cherry I received my order of samples and haven't had a chance to test them yet.
  11. Another week ended and still no "sniffie". So I wrote to her and inquired about the status. She writes: "I contacted the warehouse and they dug through the pile of requests and found your sniffy, they have told me they will get it out by the end of this week. " By the end of this week?!! By the time I recieve it, it will be an entire month since I ordered it. Ridiculous. On a good note...she's good with communication. :rolleyes2 ...(yippee skippy...a new pen pal!)
  12. That's what I think, too. Laughably, she has on her home page that her customer service is "the talk of the town". I'll bet it is!
  13. Well, I was hoping to make some purchases through a particular supplier since she's closer to where I live and shipping may be less expensive. We're both on the West coast. I ordered one of her "sniffies" so I could smell a fragrance before buying. I thought that was a pretty neat idea...and all I had to do was send a self-addressed, stamped envelope. So I did...on September 3rd. I wrote to her on the 14th asking if she was going to send my "sniffie". She wrote back saying she'd get her people on it but that they normally don't send out the sniffies until all orders are shipped. EXCUSE ME?!!? And when does a supplier never have orders that need shipping? I had a feeling right then I was being put off. Well, here we are...September 20th...and STILL no "sniffie". You know, I could order a 50 pound box of supplies from someone in Florida and have it here on the West coast a whole lot quicker than this. I'm so frustrated!...and I wasted 84 cents. Not that 84 cents is a big deal but I could have put that with $2.50 and ordered a sample bottle of the FO...and I would have been privileged enough to be on her SHIPPING LIST! This is NOT good customer service. How hard is it to stuff a small item in a SELF ADDRESSED, PRE-STAMPED envelope? If she's going to offer "sniffies" she should honor the order...or not offer them! <----end of rant----> :tiptoe:
  14. Candlelight Interiors Interiors Aglow Ambient Interiors Wax & The Works Interiors Flame 'N Furniture Interiors Candles & Coverings Interiors (ooooo!..I like this one!) ...and on and on
  15. Some of these sound beautiful! I've heard good things about Rice Flower & Shea, too. Anyone ever try it?
  16. I don't gauge mine by temperature...I just remove it from the heat source as soon as the last piece has melted. If your soap isn't finished setting up, that may be why you aren't smelling anything :-) I don't usually get a nice aroma from mine until it's completely set up, unmolded and reaches room temp. (I stick mine in the freezer to help it unmold easier). How much FO did you use?
  17. Thoroughly! But yes, I'm concerned with the labeling. She's told me that they will provide the label and that they do not even want my name on a warning label. I understand "private label" and all...but a warning label is required by Fed law and must have certain info. This is what I've told her...and I'm skeptical that she's going to follow through. What now?
  18. I agree with all your comments regarding standing up for my product. The meeting went better than I expected. She said she's familiar with soy in that it can look butt ugly. Her company will be reselling them as body candles. Truthfully, I don't care if they resell it as snail bait but when she said it was going onto the body, I didn't want to add any other ingredients to it than what she specified...(or I would have snuck in some BW because I know it's all natural). Okay...now she wants me to find organza bags that two 6oz travel tins will fit into. Off to go look.... Thanks for all your responses! This is my first wholesale account..complete with lessons learned. Thanks for being there!
  19. In about an hour and a half, a lady will come to pick up a sample candle for a wholesale account. Over the phone and without having seen my product, she assured me that I had the account "in the bag"....(because I'm local). But after she sees this monstrosity, it may completely change her mind. You see...she asked for 100% soy..no additives (except for FO)...and I HATE that stuff! I use to use EZsoy and after making this sample candle for her (after much testing and tearing my hair out!), I remember now why I quit using it and went to a blend. If she would have at least allowed me to throw in a bit of beeswax, the candles appearance could have been nicer. I'm embarassed to give this to her. If it were me...I wouldn't sell this to customers. Lesson learned: I will never agree to taking on a wholesale account with anything but the products I currently make and with the ingredients I've come to trust. If I get this account, I'll be amazed. If I don't...then I don't have to work with this horrible wax, afterall. Either way, I'll be pleased. But what a shame. It would have been a nice account.
  20. I've only used the vanilla stabilzier from BCN and it works great....never noticed a funky odor from it. But, I have noticed that when using SFIC base, some FO's cause a musty (dirt-like) odor when I lather up the soap. I can't stand that smell!
  21. That was my experience, also. The ingredients are fabulous but I don't care for a soap without lather and some bubbles. I may pick up some glycerine and play with the sample I have. Is glycerine sold in stores? If so...what kind of stores (grocery, health food, beauty supply :rolleyes2 ...?)...and if in a grocery store, which section? (Thanks in advance).
  22. I'm not sure where this goes but because it's relative to M&P soap, I'll start here. And if this is the wrong place.... ....sorry, Admin. I'm looking for a very light and extremely clean fragrance. I want it for my own personal use (I'm getting tired of Cucumber Melon). I don't care for the perfumed or heavy FO's. Does anyone have any recommendations? TIA
