  1. Oh, I can't wait. I didn't get her's from BCN, though. Darn it! I should have checked there. Anyway, I'll have to post after Christmas when she makes some! Stephanie
  2. I ordered some soy whip from KY to make for gifts for Christmas just for family. Anyway, in searching on here I found that some people have problems with mold. I didn't know if this was with recent batches of the soy whip or if it was an older problem. Also, is it with certain FOs? Thanks! Stephanie
  3. Cool! I'm glad you all enjoyed it. I just ordered a kit for my daughter for Christmas. She is going to flip when she opens it. She loves crafts and was griping the other day because she bought some lip balm and it's very hard. I actually tried it and it was hard. It didn't smooth on like lip balm should. Anyway, I'll have to post pics after Christmas when she makes her stuff. She'll think she's big stuff then! lol Stephanie
  4. Wow. Those are really pretty! Nice job! Stephanie
  5. OMG I had to laugh at the heading! lol Anyway, I'm not giving up on votives yet. I'm gonna try the Dixie cup ones but I am NOT making them out of the plastic molds I have! lol Anyway, I hope you get it figured out. I'm taking a break from them and not starting the Dixie cup ones until next week or so! Stephanie
  6. Thanks! I emailed my brother and told him I'm just going to walmart and buying votives! lol I'm tired of fighting with them. Anyway, I do plan on trying the Dixie cup votives since I have wax left over! Those should be such a pain as these other ones! Thanks again! Stephanie
  7. Nicely done! I'm jealous! lol Stephanie
  8. On my clamshells I pour up to the top, but not too far up, I want it to close. Stephanie
  9. I'm using the self-centering wicks from KY. They're 36-24-24C. I haven't tested for scent throw, just testing to make sure the wick is okay for the size. I went shopping today and bought some 2 oz glass measuring cups and I'm making my votives in those. They are straight and not tapered like the Dixie cups. I'll probably use Dixie cups later on if I decide to make more. Plus, I got a heat gun! lol I told my boyfriend, that thing could blow dry my hair in 2 seconds flat! lol And NO, I would not use it to dry my hair! Stephanie
  10. I pour slushy and mix my FO in right before I pour. I mix very slowly for quite a while to make sure it's mixed in. But, like I stated above, I used PureSoy. I get awesome scent throws with my FOs doing it this way and the tops come out smooth! Stephanie
  11. I had a problem with with my melts a while back with something else and got a suggestion on this board which actually helped with my scent throw as well. I melted the wax (I used PureSoy at the time) and waited until it was slushy before adding my FO and pouring into the containers. I ended up having stronger hot throws than when adding the FO at a higher temp. Stephanie
  12. I am gonna definitely do those from now on if I need some! I don't know why the molds are being such a pain! Thanks again! Stephanie
  13. lol I know. I can't wait until later in the week when I can test some more. I wish I wasn't so impatient! lol Stephanie
  14. Woohoo! That's cool! I'll have to let you in on a secret! I burned one of my test jars earlier tonight, 8oz square mason wicked CD16 with sugar cookie and it was awesome. I'm so impressed! lol Congrats on wicking it! Stephanie
  15. I don't use that kind of wax, but I have 2 cubes out of my clamshell that I have had in the warmer for a total of 8 hours (not 8 hours straight! LOL) that still throws scent. Of course, it's Lonestar's Cool Water! It's a good one. I have had some that I literally had to pour out of the warmer because I got sick of smelling them and had them in the warmer for 20+ hours. I don't know if it depends on the wax or the FO. Stephanie
  16. I'm scrapping the plastic votive molds. Darn things. I finally get the bottoms almost smooth and the tops cracked. Anyway, I found a thread on here about using Dixie cups as votive molds. I just wondered if there was a straight Dixie cups. I think they are all tapered but I'm not sure. Anyway, the plastic molds are going. I don't like them and am not using them again! lol Stephanie
  17. Those are really pretty. I especially like the first one! I am sitting here debating on whether or not I want to make some hazelnut coffee melts. I'm tired but I haven't made melts with that FO yet. lol I bet your's smells really, really good! Stephanie
  18. Glad you're containers did well! I won't be doing shows for a long time if ever! lol So sorry about the gas problem. I know with some people it's medical, but still there are OTC products to help with that, especially if you're gonna be out in a crowd of people! Stephanie
  19. Congrats! It sounds like a good show! I really wish craft shows would not let people in unless they actually made the craft. It annoys me to go to a craft show and find flea market stuff or home interior, etc. I'm glad things went well for ya! Stephanie
  20. That is really nice! Those are what I really want to be working on but can't right now. I gotta get some molds first! lol Stephanie
  21. She is really pretty! I really like the colors! Stephanie
  22. I think the metal ones would be much easier. I'm doing these for my brother and they are a pain! The ones I got done that I tested are burning great and the colors (lavendar and yellow) came out beautiful. It's getting the bottom of the votive to come out straight with no dimpling. I got a plan, though! lol Okay, I did the cooler pour and it was too cool. My next batch I'm going to pour at a warmer temp and pour just below the top and then top it off later, but when I top it off, I'm going to pour a little over the top since my counters aren't level and then either cut off the excess with a hot knife or melt the bottom to flatten it out. Either way, I'm gonna get these down and then I'm done with the plastic molds! Stephanie
  23. I did when I first started out but after visiting this board I now order from BCS, Peaks, and I think I ordered some from KY. I recently placed an order from Lonestar for the Lemon Chiffon, Cinnamon Apple Berry, and a sample of the Cool Water. They are awesome. I didn't have any complaints from the FOs from gelluminations, but when I ordered the same scent from one of the above companies, I could tell a difference. My cinnamon bun from Peaks smelled more like cinnamon buns. I do like the French Vanilla from gelluminations, though. I don't care for the one from Peaks, but thats just me! Stephanie
  24. Okay thanks! I knew it took longer, but I just didn't know how long. It's probably gonna take me at least a week to test them all anyway! lol Stephanie
