  1. I really like this tart warmer that use's tealights, its deep and its glazed on the inside as well as outside. most of the ones i have seen at dollar store around here are way to flat on top where you put the tart, i would be afraid to sell them nor would i use one for my self. but this one has a top on it that is 2" deep and the bottom is little over 3" high. would like to find some more like this or similar to it. so i could offer it or the electric candle warmer for tarts.
  2. I would think you have to as a business, yesterday i called the county clerk office and asked her about me registering the name i wanted to put on my tarts, candles, i wanted everything legal and she asked me if i was going to incorparate this into a business with a bank account and such, i told her no i was at time anyway just going to sell to friends & etc... wasn't setting up shows or web site's. that it was more of just a hobby. so i didn't have to do anything but if you sell as a business and since you have a tax # i'm assume you do. i think you need to register , i 'm just going by what the lady told me yesterday at the clerk office but others here has their own business's so i'm sure they will help you.
  3. OH! and don't make promise's to yourself... you can't keep them, swore to myself i wasn't going to buy but like 3 scents this next time i ordered some , i just got finished useing up all my old Fo's because i wasn't sure how old they were . but thanks to people on this board LOL! there were at least 3 from peaks i had to have like the amish harvest, so i ordered 5 scents from peaks and 4 from ky. yesterday:D i'm going be selling these in tarts and wickless so i can fill my piggy bank back up, and what fun i'm going to have. :bliss:
  4. LOL! thats correct Candleguy... except when i make mine i like to pour them into the flat square 8 oz mason jar, it is flat and covers the whole top of electric candle warmer. Veroncia i want to keep on making containr canle till i get them really good too but in mean while i need some $$$ coming in to buy more supplies with and before even with people asking me for tarts and wickless candles i wasn't making them.
  5. mking, a lot of people like the tarts, i let my dh take some to work to a friend and he puts them on his warmer, everyone was wanting some, same thing when i maked up some baskets with tarts and warmer in them for dh's fire dept. to give away at bingo, the ones that didn't win wanted them LOL! but i was so busy trying to learn about making and the wicking part of candles that i just didn't make any to sell. making the candles look good i found to be easy and i think mine does, its the wicking that takes so much testing and patience's. Angela i love the way a good tart will start to smell soon as it get warm, and some scents will last 2 days, all day long. i love how fast you can smell them, and the no worry about sooting or trimming wicks, my daughter whom is named angela also:cheesy2: used tarts because of breathing problems.
  6. Ducky is right, i was thinking the same thing you was about candles, then came on here and started learning, had no idea what i was getting in too. but it is fun if you want to do as a hobby or as a business's. just be ready to spent money to get supplies. i started out with a large coffee can on a rack in a pot for melting wax, on a stove. then for christmas kids got me others things, still need supplies over a year later.LOL! but if your Wallet is fatter than mine , you will be ok, and this is the place with people to help you, good luck and welcome.
  7. i'm getting to where my self i only use my candle warmer with tarts, and wickless candles and i'm thinking about giving up all this wick testing and just stick to tarts and wickless candles LOL! i really enjoy making them, i waste so much wax on testing container candles, and $$$ don't come easy here LOL! for me to play around with on a hobby.
  8. I'm about to embrassed to ask, but i'm clueless when it comes to this legal stuff on candles. i made a thank you basket for a lady and she put it in her beauty shop. it was just tarts and wickless candles with an electric candle warmer. but some of her customers are asking her about them and she has offered to put some of them if i wanted to in her shop. but i would still like for them to have a candle maker name on them, but i don't know where or how i'm suppose to go about registering for a name. any help i would appreciate. because i will get my candles to where i'm as happy with them as i am my tarts and wickless ones. dh says my 8 ozjj and my wide mouth mason jar (120zs) is good too. he thinks i'm too strict on my self, but if i can't get it to where i'm proud to say i make that candle then it don't leave my house.
  9. I have tried only 2 wax's kyparsoy for container and tarts. then tried the j 50 but because kycandle supply is close to me, i went back to the parsoy because of shipping and i can get it in 2 days, she has another blend out now i want to try.
  10. OH that pretty, dipping bears is yet another thing one day i'm going try. lOL! Donita you do not want to see a bear close as i did, the other night one came on my back porch, dh had to get gun and shoot in air to scare him away he was butted his nose on screen door like he was coming in, i have glass door front almost to bottom and 2 big side by side glass windows to floors. he ate my dog food i keep in a big plastis tote box. i knew something was there when the dogs started barking at 3 am. we have them all around us but been about 6 years since one came and got my trash.
  11. i like and have bought a lot kycandle Hazelnut. its the only one i have tried, but i think it smells great in the kyparsoy.
  12. thanks scented.. i'm getting ready to order me some new fo's and sotb sounds like one i would like.
  13. Well thats odd, i replyed back to my post and checked but it wasn't here, could be anywhere LOL! thanks all, the little tad of yellow worked:yay: and thanks for the color chart Judy, i saved it for next time i need a color. now i gotta go get me some coffee, i poured 4 scents of tarts today and i can't smell anything, my lips taste like FO's. but i wanted to use up more of my fo's so i could buy some new and these was from ads and not sure how old they were getting. when i buy new ones from somewhere i put the fo and date in a note pad. now i'm going to go clear my head, don't think i could smell a stinking pole cat right now:p

  17. Hi, and welcome to the board, this place is great, i would have given up a long time ago, on making candles if it wasn't from the people here, they are so helpful and have a sense of humor LOL! your candles are wonderful, don't see how you could learm more. and as you can see we love to express our selfs with these little yellow cuties.

  19. What color can i mix in with my green to make it more green ? i used this green color my son had got me at micheal's and it looked good, like a grannie smith apple color, but today i want to make some tarts in spiced apple tea and i wanted it green, but my green is more of an aqual (sp?) any sugesstions, i have dark blue, yellow, red, brown, peach and some other colors. i don't know why when i used this color before it was fine as a green.
  20. :rolleyes2 NOPE..no way am i 'm going say what thaty looks a little like. nope , nope lol!
  21. Thanks Bev, that what i was thinking but wasn't sure . i want to get real good at making candles but at the same time i know i only want to make them to give as gifts or to sell to just friends or family and so forth, do not plan on selling as a business, i have heard on here how much time and effort that does have to go into it, to make and sell candles as a busniess. and i enjoy doing so many other things, i would never have the time to give to candle making like i would have to, to sell as a business.
  22. I don't sell my candles yet. just some tarts and right now i'm putting together a basket as a pay back for a lady that let me use her dog kennel to put my beagle dog in to keep her off her leg after surgery. what i was needing to know is do i still have to go thru a lot of red tape or what just to put a name like firstlady candles on my jar/ tarts ? i'm not going into a business , but would still like to put something on a tag with my name on the jj candles and tarts i'm giving to her. i don't have a clue what legal or not on these things. thanks:rolleyes2
  23. i made 5 baskets for my dh's fire dept. and everyone wanted one. i put 5 different scents of tarts in in bagged up, an electric candle warmer behind them with a dish to melt them in, in center of basket i put a tall flower pot/ garden little do-da, from dollar store, yet was pretty. and flowers in front laying to match , just small ones. everyone lthat didn't win one , wanted one. because i wasn't happy with my candles at the time, even my jj. but some pillars. votives, soap lotion what ever you make would be nice. i used the shredded grass/oss at walmart just for thes baskets , a bag of it, once it was pulled apart there was a lot in the bag.
