  1. Helps it hold together, adding more seems to sometimes help prevent humidity reactions, and its cheap filler. I used alot of bath bombs when I was testing and never had a problem, all had cornstarch in them. Any bath product a female uses in excess will cause a yeast infection. Some females are just more prone to it then others, if you are selling make sure you put a warning on them that if any irritation occurs to discontinue use .
  2. Be careful which ultramarines you use, when blue ultramarine hits citric acid, it produces a horrid sulpher smell. Ask me how I know. :rolleyes2 I dont know if any other colours react this way yet , but im off to get some cake decorator gel this morning.
  3. Maryann thank you for the compliements on the bath bombs, was looking for feedback on them as I am about to go downstairs and make some for sell. I tried the foot scrub, i love the way it makes my feet tingle, but I think it would work better if you used a finer grain of salt. I found that I had a hard time massaging those grains in, and it really just seemed to make a big mess on my floor. I LOVE your body butter, then scent is to die for, and I keep using it on the little dry spots on my face, and then putting it on as perfume. One person did tell me i smelled good enough to eat.
  4. haha, ive dreamed too,I have an even worse problem, i wake up in the middle of the night, start thinking soap and candles, and then I cant fall back asleep.
  5. I always add my citric last and move fast when I add it. Dont use vanilla extract, the only natural vanilla I can think of that would scent is vanilla absoloute, and its PRICEY, if you want vanilla , use FO, there are lots of other natural choices availalbe with other scents.
  6. Overfill both halves and press them together as hard as you can, hold in a firm press for 12 - 15 seconds. Do not demold. Leave both half of the bath bomb mold on for 5 minutes or so, then carefully remove 1 half. Leave the bath bomb in the other half for up for 30 minutes if possible, letting them dry a little like that helps them to hold together well , and leaving them in the second half prevents flat bottoms. its best to have lots and lots of christmas ball molds if you plan on making bath bombs often. HTH Melanie
  7. OK, I finally broke down and bought some M&P Soap, planning on making some of those gorgeous chunk and curl bars you guys are doing. Am I able to use my regular wooden log mold lined with parchment paper, or do I need to find a plastic log style mold? Silly question I know, but had to ask
  8. Here is the tutorial and recipie thatworks for me http://www.ncf.ca/~aj471/BathBombs.html
  9. Hey guys Well it was my first week at the farmers market, and last night we got a tonne of snow, the roads were bad, and that kept alot of people away. Still we did exceptionally well for our first time out, just over $120.00 in sales, almost 5X booth fee. We recieved many many positive comments on the product, and this has been a real self esteem booster for me. I had a tonne of fun and am looking forward to going back, we are considering a pernament booth.
  10. Gorgeous, I really gotta get myself some m&p base.
  11. A little spray of pam on the wick pins also helps them slide out easier, I spray them then wack them gently on a padded surface. No breakage here any more.
  12. I wouldnt use any of it. You will need to toss it or see if you can rebatch. Sorry the batch went bad for you
  13. Is it the same brand of vegitable oil?? Is the Vegie oil 100% soybean or a mix of oils. Some veggie oils are a random mix of various oils such as canola and soybean, there is no set percentage that they use. If your veg oil is using a different mix of oils then normal, this could easily cause your soap to fail as they all have different sap values. If it is 100% soybean, then try CPOP. Put your soap in the oven at 175 degrees for 1 hour then turn the oven off and leave it in there overnight.

  15. Yes Ive been using my stuff. Your powdered bubble bath is wonderful, sooo many bubbles for such a small amount of powder, i was surprised. I had to fight my friend off the roll on perfume, and Ive been using the body spray as a linen spray on my pillow every night, would love to know what the scent is. Danie, your oil spray is wonderful, soaks in easy, smells nice, leaves me nice and soft. Glo, your cp is great, and the bath melts too, love the scent you chose. Saving my candles for closer to christmas. The body butter is great aswell, soaks right in and cleared up a few dry spots for me. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the scent, even wore the butter as perfume one day. The lip balm is nice, im in a cold climate and find it can be hard to get it on my lips sometimes, a little overly waxy, may want to consider using a little more liquid oils. Bath confetti was fun, never used it before. I am going to climb into the tub right now and try out my bar of M&P soap, having a pretty miserable day today, this should cheer me up The Ameretto nog soap is nice aswell, and LOVE THe smell of the bath tea, cant wait to try it (this is for one night when DS is in bed and I can have a LONG LONG bath.) Would greatly appreciate feed back on the bath bombs. If i fo
  16. I read to stay away from the salts during pregnancy, can effect your blood pressure. Aswell these essential oils, Basil, Cedarwood,Clary, Coriander, Hyssop, Jasmine, Juniper,Marjoram. Oregano, Myrrh,Peppermint (which should also be avoided while nursing), Rockrose, Rosemary,Sage and Thyme.
  17. Wonder if we could modify a cookie cutter with the pasty or cookie press , make it work similar to my sons play dough toy, that is basically what that $200 doohicky is. Im looking at a few books on amazon.com that might help out. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1580172938/002-9395213-7440000?v=glance&n=283155&n=507846&s=books&v=glance and http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1402707975/002-9395213-7440000?v=glance&n=283155&n=507846&s=books&v=glance anyone read either of these? Ive never tried any of the primal elements products, little out of my price range. FBB sounds nice though.
  18. Probably would be something like the metal loaf molds that candlewic sells. http://www.candlewic.com/Store/product.asp?catalog_name=Soap+Making+Supplies&category_name=Metal+Loaf+Molds&product_id=B81205 wonder how big these things are, they are pretty cheap. Wonder if they would work for anything.
  19. They defiantly do it in logs, they sell it by the log on thier site. Im looking at how i can pull it off until i sell enough to have custom molds made myself.
  20. yeah, they gotta be custom made, my thought was maybe doing cookie cutters and making the bars slab style, doing it in my upland As I can see where on the bars each piece will be placed. There are a huge variety of cookie cutters available, and small details such as eyes can be painted on, or drilled and filled. Just a thought. Might work might not, will need to get some m&p base and play.
  21. This is what I am planning to do at the market this saturday, as I havnt finallized my soap packaging yet. No prepacking , just wrap them as they are sold. I just think nothing looks more tempting then a bar of naked soap. I am going to do the same with my bath bombs aswell.
  22. Orange and red it is Will do my colour test today.
  23. Sigh... I want. Im now deteremined to make soaps like that, it will be a while before i can start to experiment, gotta get together some spare cash frist, luckily christmas and a birthday are coming up.
  24. I pour onto a cookie sheet so I can put the spilled wax back in my pour pot. It gets easier with time, now that ive poured hundreds of the buggers, I'm developing "pouring muscles" makes keeping it steady easier. Aswell I never put more then 3 lbs into my pour pot, 4 lbs = awful mess
  25. oh great, between slaztoo's soap from the swap and this site I am sooo tempted to try M&P now, this is going to cost my husband a fortune.
