  1. I have to confess I'm enamoured with the Spa Goddess bars. Their aesthetic is extremely appealing because they look very natural, not unlike a beautifully coloured rock. What did you scent that lovely batch with? Is that oatmeal I see in the texture? Very cool. I'm stunned...they look amazing.
  2. Yes there is... The store where I buy some of my supplies carries a "Lip Sweetner" which looks like more of a base. I think the key ingredient is sodium saccarine. Here's the link: www.soapscope.com/retail/pages/catalogue/lipbalms.html The sodium saccarine is just an artificial sweetner and I see no reason why you couldn't augment or rather pick up the flavour in the oil with something similar. Hope that helps.santa big
  3. Thanks sooo much everybody!!! I did eventually get them at Lewiscraft today. Well, they are the ornaments with two halves which I assume is what a regular bath bomb mold is like (I'm certain they're one in the same). Anyways, thank you everyone for helping me nail exactly what I was after. It is greatly appreciated. Cheers.santa big
  4. Haha! That Bath Bomb Press at Kangarooblue IS a meatballer innit?! Thanks for all your help. I'm going to try one other Kitchen Supply Shop downtown tomorrow. With any luck, they'll have a meatballer I can purchase. They also come in 2" sizes apparently. These ornaments people are using as bath bomb molds...are they just plastic ornaments that they crack open? It's just I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for if that's my final option. Mail order won't arrive in time methinks! Cheers.
  5. I am in Canada and there are no Hobby Lobby's I'm afraid. I do appreciate your help. I'm still thinking of something I could use as an alternative. No meatballers, no Christmas ornaments... I've gone to sit under my thinking tree... think...think...think...
  6. With Christmas just around the corner, I'm at my wits end trying to find sphere molds for my bath bombs.santa frow I've heard some folks say they use some sort of Christmas ornament that splits in two, however I've had no luck finding these. I don't even know their proper name! I realize it's a silly thing to post about, but I've exhausted my resources (I live in a big city too) and I'm determined (read stubborn). I want my bath bombs round...there is no compromise!!! I've looked for meatballers at two kitchen supply chains and came up empty handed. I checked out a pottery supply store along with Lewiscraft, Michaels and various other arts & crafts stores. Sorry for the rant, but I just know there is something I've overlooked. There must be something with a 2-3" diameter that's, hard and round and will give me the result I want. Any help on this would be a tremendous help.
  7. Tremendous thanks Melly and Gloworm:bow: Still unsure of whether I want to add cornstarch to the bath bombs though. There seems to be two schools of thought on whether or not cornstarch can help induce yeast infection if used in bath products. Logic tells me that in all likelihood that is nonsense. Perhaps there is a small contingent of people who might experience this but it seems silly when you think they use cornstarch in baby powders etc. I have already made one batch of bombs using just sodium bicarbonate, epsom salts, and citric acid for the base. The bombs turned out lovely except I noticed they had inperfections such a small cracks and a little bit of pitting on them. I know this is not normal as most bath bombs I see in retail environments have pretty smooth surfaces aside from the seamline. I wonder if the cornstarch could help me achieve a smoother surface? What is the primary reason for using cornstarch in a bath bomb anyway? Does it help in creating a more solid bomb? Thanks again.
  8. does anyone here mix and wet their their dry ingredients minus the citric acid? I would think it's better to dampen sodium bicarbonate and perhaps epsom salt before adding the citric acid to help avoid the possible fizzing action. If anyone can attest to this being a better method please tell. I'm obviously a newbie to this:embarasse and want to make a very solid bath bomb. Also, I want to use vanilla as part of a scent in my soaps and bombs but am unsure of the best option if I want it natural. Can I use extract? Or would it be better to use the seeds from a pod? Any advice would be helpful.
  9. I'm about to embark on my maiden soapmaking voyage and was looking for advice on adding Orange Blossom Water (Neroli Hydrosol) to my batch. Would this be something I add as part of the water/lye solution or would this be added at trace? Anyone have experience using this ingredient? I'd rather use the hydrosol as opposed to the EO because it is much more cost effective and I just want to use it as a top note in the overall scent which is based on a mix of EO's. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
