  1. yeah, I know that ~ I didn't look though. I would have thought he would have hosted his own site if he now was a hosting company, that's why I was confused. From the outside looking in, it appeared that others were done, but not his own. Obviously there's more to the story. The one that is "up" is in fact hosted by someone else as LaVida pointed out, so she switched at some point evidently because I thought in an old thread she was listed as being hosted by Graceful. Admittedly I don't watch all that close, just snowed in today and browsing the threads
  2. Your site comes up for me just fine, but LaVida's in down. Adam's own site comes up, but his hosting company site is down. I'm confused ...
  3. I am not even a purse collector, but every time you post one of your creations I totally want a new purse!! I wish I could sew like that ~ what an awesome creative outlet. I know I'd have one for every outfit, although fabric is getting hard to find around here with so many stores closing!! gorgeous work! I just love them all!
  4. it's a RED-EYED TREE FROG .... my frog collecting daughter and Diego loving son would go crazy over that pair!!
  5. Gee, that size will fit NOTHING (" The Priority Mail Small Flat Rate Box measures 8-5/8 x 5-3/8 x 1-5/8 inches - about the same size and shape as three stacked DVD cases.") I wish they would take their increases and invest in some scanners so packages could actually be TRACKED instead of just "delivery confirmation" which does nothing for you except confirm it got SOMEWHERE. Since the ground carrier rates always go up too, and I'm seeing more 'smaller' orders, I've actually increased my postal shipping, so maybe I'll check into the "commercial use" also mentioned in their post. I should get some sort of break since I already have to take everything to the P.O. since we're in a rural area and they don't *do* pick-ups here.
  6. Contact some of the bigger churches in your area. Most of them have commercial kitchens and they might be willing to rent you the kitchen 1-2 days a weeks when they're not using it. I know someone that makes/sells BBQ sauce and he rents a commercial kitchen twice a month, makes enough product in one day for the next 2-4 weeks, then stores it in another commercial building (i.e. storage facility), all while he lives in an apartment. He simply rents what he needs to pass the inspection for his licensing.
  7. I've done both, and they both work fine! Don't leave the lids on all the way though, or you'll collect way too much condensation. When I have a big batch to make, I use to big stock pots stacked like a giant double boiler and do it right on the stove top. I can color/scent 20 lbs. at a time doing it that way.
  8. P.O. insurance isn't worth the paper it's written on! In the case of these boxes, they will NOT reimburse if the box pops open, it's on the seller/supplier/shipper to secure the package. In this case insurance would not have helped at all.
  9. funny you mention that, because I do also have problems with my UPS labels curling up and wanting to peel off my boxes in winter, especially the parts of the label that cross the packing tape. I really can't believe she (ICS) is ever able to secure those boxes without extra tape. As I said before though ~ summer time is a whole different ballgame ~ those suckers stick better than glue without being taped. I still tape them, cuz I'm anal like that
  10. I've only ordered from ICS twice, so I can't really chime in either way about the service, but I can comment about the P.M. boxes. I'm in the same state as ICS and I *HAVE* to tape the boxes together because it's so cold and dry right now that they won't stick on their own. In the summer I have no problem whatsoever, but come fall and definitely all through winter, I simply have to use tape or they pop right back open!
  11. I never mix utensils. I keep separate containers for soap and food. I simply don't trust that all fragrance oil is washed off whether I do it by hand or run it in the dishwasher. I'm sure it probably is, but I'm not going to take that chance and make my children the guinea pigs. Pyrex are not that expensive, and plenty worth the cost of being "sure" my kids don't possibly ingest any more chemicals than they already probably do from the quality foods in this country!
  12. in my experience, I only buy locally if I really mess up and forget to order something, or get a big, rush order. Local prices for me are always higher than what I pay online, even with adding shipping! Re-evaluate what you're buying ... can you do without 1 or 2 things to start, can you buy a larger volume and split it with someone, or can you just start with the very basic and buy bulk?
  13. maybe listing who you have called and what their exact answer to you was would help in narrowing down the list of possibilities. That way others could respond with a company that is insuring them and you would have more concrete leads.
  14. could very well be a great niche! Are the letters offset on purpose though? They don't touch/connect entirely properly, so visually it's a little choppy to me. Words to me should be very crisp & clear, but that's just an opinion Maybe you could incorporate the actual Japanese writing as well ~ that might be really neat.
  15. I read it as "tense" "in" "obi" so it made me think "stressed where?" where's "Obi"? I also saw "ten" "seinobi" but since I don't know what "seinobi" is I had no idea why 10 of them would be appealing. The lettering looks choppy a bit, but maybe it's supposed to be that way. The colors are beautiful, and the overall appearance is elegant, so I think it's a good start!
  16. they finally got smart and put up a notice last night that it wasn't working. Still really annoying, but at least you were notified before you got all the info loaded like before! It did come up today, but it took me 1 1/2 hours to complete 9 labels. I would get errors and have to go back and re-click something I'd already clicked, or refresh to it could try the address again (no changes, it just claimed stuff was invalid that I know was right). I hope I don't have to mail anything more for a couple of days ... what a pain!
  17. I have no idea if Bell started up again, but a thread from this summer stated she sold to wicks-wax-scents http://www.wicks-wax-scents.com/air-fresheners.html Check out this site .... http://www.scentedpromos.com/shapes.htm I have no idea if they're good on not, but they popped up in a Google search and have a boat load of shapes to choose from!
  18. I'll say it again so my words don't get misinterpreted ... I have no problem with age ~ I just have concerns that he's taking on a bunch of new clients here on this board before he graduated from high school (which he makes it sound like that's a breeze ~ minimal class load, answers emails at school, etc.) and then going to college which is likely (as it should be) harder, and needs more of his time and attention. I have no doubt he is giving amazing customer service right now, but will the same be true in 9 months when he's eyeball deep in people jumping ship from a few other hosts and he's potentially over his head with school work? How patient and understanding will you be?? Those that have said "it's worth it to give him a chance" ... I do agree. I just hope your words remain as kind if something goes wrong later. I admire the young man for his ambition, just think he's biting off more than he can chew here.
  19. my only concern would be that the owner has publicly mentioned MANY times his young age on this very board and the fact that he'll be graduating HIGH SCHOOL in Spring 2009 and then heading off to college. To those that are way beyond those years ~ imagine if you really would have had/made the time needed support a "hosting" business. If you get in a pinch ~ have a problem, have a question, etc. ~ are YOU going to patient while Adam is cramming for a final, sitting in a lecture hall, etc.?? I'm not knocking Adam, I think it's admirable to be so ambitious at any age, especially 17/18 ~ I just hate to see him setting himself up to be raked over the coals like another "board member" did when they became a hosting service and then had problems.
  20. my 7 year old DD just got a new book called "Pinkalicious" ~ it's about a girl that eats so many pink cupcakes that she turns pink. Your label could have a cupcake on it (if you put pictures on there) a take on the "Boys are Mean" could be "No Boys Allowed" and do a picture of a clubhouse door. I like Twinkle Toes
  21. would wax embeds work? there's several embeds available online that are so realistic looking you'd swear they were the real thing!
  22. can you compromise and take a credit card over the phone (since she's calling you anyway) and then just mail them to her. Be sure to add on postage to the charge (telling her upfront of course).
  23. I don't find it bright at all ~ in fact, I think the colors are quited muted. Maybe changes were made between these posts though. One thing I would remove is the "prices are subject to change without notice" statement. Not necessary. You MUST honor whatever price is on the website, you cannot change it afterward, so this is not needed. Post the price, they'll buy if they want it Next issue (actually most important IMO) is the URL name. You've opened yourself up to a C&D possibility since somebody else is already operating a candle business by the same name. It not certain that they will care, but they might, and you'd be up a creek because they were there first. I would suggest looking into a new name that can be secured with a "dot com" site ~ you'll be much easier to find by the general public.
  24. Middle Earth, Divine Earth, Mystic, Hunter's Moon, Terrestrial, Enchanted, Enchanting Siren (although that's close to Dragon) hope that gets you started
