  1. Not sure how it smells, but www.lonestarcandlesupply.com has recently added honey. I saw it this morning when I was looking for something else. Right now you can get a sample size bottle for only $1 HTH Jennifer
  2. And DH wonders why I am willing to drive almost 2 hours to pick up my wax. He doesn't believe it's cheaper than shipping. I think I'll let him read this thread.
  3. You might also check out www.afloral.com and www.burtonandburton.com they both carry vases. Jennifer
  4. Also, a lot of the graphics and label making software has some graphics included. I use printartist for my labels and there are several fruit/dessert photos included. HTH Jennifer
  5. Yeah! Just ordered a sample pack of the 700 from wickit. The lady I talked to said that those worked real well in the GW464. So I'm off to pour my candles so I'll be ready to poke those little wicks in there when they come and start my testing. Thanks for all your help. Jennifer
  6. Hello, I'm just starting out with the GW464 myself, I really like it so far. I'm also looking for a good wick. But you will need to choose a jar before you choose your wick. The type of jar and the diameter of the jar are big factors in determining which wick and what size you will need. Along with the type of wax, f/o load, color, and I'm sure I've left something out. All 8 ounce jars are not created equal, and one size and type wick might work well with let's say an 8 ounce square mason, whereas you might need something totally different for an 8 ounce apothecary or bean pot or anything else for that matter. But, I'm sure once you have chosen your jar you will be able to get all kinds of help. This is an awsome board. HTH Jennifer
  7. SouthernGal, If you don't mind me asking, who is your supplier? TIA Jennifer
  8. Thanks, that's good to hear I really hate the mushroom and the soot on the side of the jars. I guess that's two of my biggest complaints with the CD's, but it seems that with my previous wax the HTP's and LX's just didn't do well in my harder to burn scents. I know it's a matter of test, test, test, but when you are working on a budget it's nice to have some idea of where to start. I hate to spend 1/2 million dollars in wicks alone.LOL Jennifer
  9. Ok, since I am going to be getting back into candlemaking, I thought I would start with a different wax. I'm kinda leary of my old supplier since I got a bad box a while back. It's not so much the fact that I got a bad box, I know it can happen to the best of suppliers, but what really upsets me is that I was told that nobody else had complained about having problems. But, I had gotten pm's from others on the board asking what brand of wax it was and that they had also had problems with it. When they inquired with the supplier, they were also told that nobody else had complained. So this makes me leary. Anyway, I have gotten some GW464 from Aztec International that I am anxious to try. I have read the thread from when this wax first came out and everyone was testing. So I thought I would check and see if anybody is using a similar combo that I am and see which type of wick you like best. I have the 16 and 26 ounce apothecaries, with my previous wax I was double wicking the CD's mostly 18's and 20's but have noticed that even with the 18 in my harder scents to burn, I get a terrible mushroom with the GW464 and too deep of a mp. I don't have anything smaller than an 18 so I know I need to order some, but I was just curious which type everyone likes with this wax, CD's, Cotton, LX, Eco.... TIA Jennifer
  10. Ooh, Ooh, Ooh, is there a CT friend day? I can be ready in a minute's notice and I don't take up too much room. Why is this sort of thing "wasted" on guys, they never actually appreciate being so close to somebody like Jr. LOL I don't know where rainbow warrior came from, that's just what my DH has always called him. Actually, he's not too bad, I guess, he's just to pretty for me too. Gotta give him props as a driver though, but I'll never admit it to DH.
  11. Oh no, are you a fan of the rainbow warrior too? He's too sunshine and, well, rainbows for me. I like the bad boys with all their bad toys. Where does this madness stop. DH and my little nephew like Jeff too. Of course I hope it's not because they think he's hot. Sorry Dawn, didn't mean to hi-jack your thread with NASCAR hotties. Maybe we need a NASCAR thread.
  12. The only one of those I didn't care for was the Teaberry. The cold throw smells just like a stick of the gum, but to me the hot throw didn't smell anything like it. That's just my personal preference though. The rest of those I think smell awsome! Vickey has some really great oils.
  13. Don't ya hate when that happens. Why can the alarm never go off when you are about to fall off a cliff, or when some wierd creature or psycho is chasing you?
  14. Not sure about Ohio, but in Kentucky you can go to the Secretary of State's website and there is a place for online business services where you can type in a business name to see if it has been registered for use in your state. As far as nationwide, I can't help with that~Sorry Jennifer
  15. It is something in the base, I know this because I have used two different lotion bases with my Pink Sugar and one turned brown and the other didn't. The lotion base from KY as well as the Soy Whip turned brown in a few days, the lotion base from Craft Lobby didn't, it stayed a pretty shade of pink. Now, I'm no scientist and maybe somebody who knows more about the ingredients and how they react can help out more here. But I had been meaning to compare the two bases and see what was in each and what wasn't so maybe I could narrow down what was causing the problem. I just never did, and now that I have stopped selling for a while, I probably won't. But if it will help somebody out, I can list the ingredients of each and let somebody have a stab at it. Just let me find my list of Craft Lobby's Ingredients and I'll get back with ya.
  16. I agree, with Luci, I wish I had known about this before I quit selling. I might just get it anyway, because I will be doing this again someday. I just don't have the time to be online searching and looking for hours at a time. I have two little ones to look after, housework to do and a husband to spend time with. Then on top of all that, when I was doing candles and B&B, I had to fit time in to do that too. So the less I have to search for stuff the better I like it. Even if it does cost me a little money. I'd rather shell out $29 bucks than spend hours of my precious family time searching for the same stuff, even if it is free. Thanks for the link Braodzilla
  17. I had been using it for sometime, and my customers all loved it. Never had an issue with molding either, but I really didn't keep it that long. Usually had people standing in line for the next batch. You may want to order some samples from the candlemaker's store, I received some of their Natural Soy Thick Heavy Cream Lotion and it's about the same consistency as the Ky Soy Whip, but seems to be a little creamier and less rubbery. Don't know how well it mixes up though, never got around to trying it. Maybe somebody else can chime in. Jennifer
  18. I think there's a postal "black hole" and if your package gets close enough, it gets sucked right in. I ordered a book from amazon.com nearly a month ago and it shipped standard mail. Never did receive that one, but when I contacted amazon about it they didn't hesitate, they sent me another one out 2nd day air UPS. Got it right on time. Still don't know where the one from the P.O. is.
  19. On my presto pot, there is a little notch on the side of the button past warm but before 200. I usually start there and keep an eye on my thermometer until all wax is melted and the temp evens out a bit. I have still noticed thought that sometimes when I have less than a full pot of wax melted, I have to turn down the temp a little to keep it around 175. It's really hard to judge by the knob, putting a thermometer in the wax and checking it occasionally is probably your best bet for accuracy. HTH~ Jennifer
  20. You might want to contact Aztec International www.buywax.com they are in Knoxville TN, but I know they make regular drops in KY. Not sure where else, but they may even make drops in GA. HTH~Jennifer
  21. Wow! I didn't know you could do that. OK, all you guys and gals buying from my classy ad, be warned now, if you don't buy insurance you may or may not get your packages. LOL
  22. I can't imagine having lost over $2,000 because of bad wax. But this has definately been a wake up call for me too. I will certainly test each lot of wax from now on.
