Good morning everybody! Just my two cents so far...yesterday, I poured 1 lb of the 444 yesterday with 1.5 oz. of monkey farts (MC) in one 12 oz. container double wicked with 83's and one 6 oz. container wicked w/one 83. Heated wax a little hotter than usual @ 200; cooled at 175 to add f.o.; poured at 115. Sorry no pics but the 12oz. had a sinkhole between the wicks and there was cracking around the wick of the 6 oz. container. I heatgunned them both and the surface turned a little rough. Cold throw was light (I'll add bw to the next batch). This morning, I noticed wet spots on both containers and the cold throw did improve. I'll burn them later and give info.
I simply measure both f.o.s and e.o.s by the capful. My lemongrass & sage works beautifully. I whip about 1lb of shea and it usually takes 2 capfuls and the "nutty" smell is gone. My gardenia actually takes less than that because it's very strong. When I add lavender e.o., just a few drops is all I need. So I guess in essence just keeping testing to see what level you can achieve without adding too much. HTH
It also depends on the manufacturer recommendations of those f.o.s. In particular, Millcreek suggests 1.5 per oz of wax but I've also found via testing that a couple of them requires less than that. HTH
Hey, that's wonderful. Just goes to show you when things don't always go the way we would like, it pays not to give up! Your husband really understands your passion or else he wouldn't have invested in the bus. license for you. Congrats to the both of you. Have a great Thanksgiving!
You go Lady! You're rubbing elbows with the best of 'em and that's because "You are the Best." I know its sounds cornball but I really mean that. Congrats to you!
I really like your website. Colors are nice on the eyes, no problems loading up, easy navigation, good Q & A about the soy candle/lotion novelty, nice pics..very nice indeed.
Just my two cents but why don't you try heating the dye first in the pyrex, then add the wax-then stir, after that add the fragrance oil-then stir wait until the right temp and then pour.
Hi Gaye! Yes, Millcreek has some fabulous scents. I would highly recommend the Sweet Pea...it is one of my favorites. I also like: Love Spell Citrus & Sage (very strong) Gardenia Blossoms Honeysuckle Vine Pumpkin Spice Just Peachy (takes a while to cure)
Hi Paula! Since you're using 100% soy, I'd say that you probably need to pour a little cooler--at least until you see the "slushy stage" or @ 110 degrees whichever is first. Hopefully that will eliminate some of the bubbles. Since you don't have a heat gun, you can use your blow dryer. Just put it on the low setting to begin with. HTH
