  1. I'm actually looking for the type with the top that slides off. Here is a photo of the type of jar. http://www.theapplesmith.com/bw-ae.htm
  2. Does anyone know where they can be found? I've searched candletech, google, etc. Can't seem to find much. I'm looking for 3" or less in diameter. Any info pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated! Editing to say that I'm looking for this particular style jar. http://www.theapplesmith.com/bw-ae.htm
  3. Can I ask where you buy your jars? I'm looking for something similar for my candles.
  4. Ditto what everyone else said. I tried some of their FO's and wasn't impressed with the scent throw in plain soy or in a 50/50 blend. They are really high priced and I was not impressed with their customer service - downright rude.
  5. So you slip it right over your tabbed wick? Am I understanding this right?
  6. that they sent? Are they temporary tools or do you actually adhere them to the wick and jar?
  7. I get mine from Wholesale Supplies Plus (249.50 for 384 pieces - 8 oz) or Candle Science - call for volume discounts.
  8. I just got my samples and tried a 767 - too small - only gave me a 2 inch diameter meltpool after 2 cycles of burning. There are so many choices for 3 inch diameter. I'm using JS 50/50 and JS Caramel Cinnamon Latte FO. I'm thinking of trying a 785 next and go down from there if needed. If I went up one wick size at a time it could take a while. :rolleyes2
  9. Could someone point me in the right direction? I live in the northeast and it's Black Fly season. I want to try to formulate a bug spray that will actually work. Thanks, Sab
  10. I got mine today as well! They sent every size they make plus the wick clamps. A testers nightmare! *L* I poured two candles tonight and will test in the morning.
  11. 77.00 shipped for 55 lbs JS 50/50. Works out to be 1.40 per pound from Ohio to NH.
  12. 8 oz tin - HTP 83 or LX 14 works best for me. HTP mushrooms less with most FO's.
  13. Candied Blueberries from JS. Everyone loves the candle throw but it's so strong that when I pour it makes me sick. I've given up on it and am now trying different blueberry FO's.
  14. For me it's the 8 oz tin. Seems no matter what the fragrance I can wick this tin with one of two wicks. I wish they were all that easy!
  15. I add a drop or two of black dye.
  16. Have you had someone else test scent throw for you? I couldn't smell my candles well and sent a few to a neighbor to test. She said they smelled very strong. I have a serious case of candle nose and can only smell certain scents (strongly) now. Even my husband has lost his sense of smell from being around the candles so much.
  17. So far I've tested Sea Breeze and it's become my favorite scent! It's got a strong jasmine scent which I love.
  18. Is Candlechem out of Massachusetts?
  19. Has anyone ever tried the FO's from this supplier? They are in my state - NH so I decided to try some samples which I got in the mail. I hope they work out well because they are close by - I got my package in two days. Will update later.
  20. CS Cool Citrus Basil and Mediterranean Fig are great in my parasoy blend. Has anyone tried CS's Pumpkin Bread in parasoy? I can't seem to get a strong throw.
  21. I'm going to continue to test my LX and low smoke zincs in a few more fragrance oils over the weekend. My kids are on spring break so I'll be taxing them around, I'm sure! Sab
  22. How important is it to find a wick that won't mushroom? I've found two wicks that work well in my JS 50/50 (low smoke zinc and LX) - good, slow meltpool, great scent throw, no smoking but I'm getting a little mushrooming on the LX and a fair amount on the zinc. So far these wicks have performed the best out of the loads that I've tried. Am I being too fussy or am I settling? That's what I'm trying to decide. By the way, I've tested on several different FO's. Any input would be appreciated. Sab
  23. I warmed them in the oven, wiped them out and washed them in hot soapy water. Worked well.
  24. The RRD and ECO's did not work for me in most FO's. They smoked terribly unless they were constantly trimmed to 1/8. I found the low smoke zinc's and the LX wicks work best with this wax. I have a sample of 700 series coming as well that I'm going to test just for the heck of it.
  25. I've been testing it for about a month. This is the wax that I've had such trouble wicking. I finally figured it out last night after testing many different brands of wicks. It's a nice smooth wax, only requires one pour. I've never had a wet spot on any jar I've poured and it has an excellent hot and cold throw. After testing many waxes, this is the one for me. Sab
