  1. I could have sworn there was a thread on this, but I've searched and can't find anything. Does anyone know where you can get these, and is it called something else? TIA for any help.
  2. Just a mention here...I received an email thru my webstore Friday - Notice of Underreported Income(Fraud Report), supposedly from the IRS; of course with a link to view my tax statement at their online site. The report number was very convincing, but it wasn't mine! When I checked the source of the email, the ip address was from Trinidad! Of course I didn't click on it:tiptoe:, but wanted to let everyone know that this is going around. Obviously, I think they're hoping you'll be unnerved enough to click on it without thinking.
  3. If people are buying for gifts, my experience has been that they prefer the cute ones and are willing to pay extra for them, but I agree; you should take some of both and see which sells best for you.
  4. As usual, these candles are beautiful! Wish I lived "down under" so I could purchase these on a regular basis! Great job.
  5. nursenancy, sorry to hear you're still having problems with these. A couple of things; if you live in an area of high humidity, it's going to take lots longer for these cones to dry out. They are thick and it can take forever because of it, and of course must be air dryed. Also, they are supposed to leave a trail of smoke as they turn to ash(I'm sure you know that). Maybe the reason I have such good luck is I've found the proper ratio for the fragrances I use, and I live in an area of about 9% average humidity, so they dry all the way thru pretty fast.
  6. Thanks Candybee. It must be my eyes then. I don't know why they look so big to me:tiptoe:, but they sure are pretty!
  7. Candybee, those soap look terrific but I have to ask what size they are? They look huge to me(maybe it's just my eyes:shocked2:), almost the size of gold bars!
  8. If you melt your wax(any kind)on the stove, leave it there, or just leave your container there, and then fry anything on the next burner without a spatter screen(or perhaps your hubby does it:angry2:) you can get a few drops of grease in your melter without even knowing it. Even one drop will cause sizzling. Ask me how I know.... That's why I have a shop now, devoted to anything with the craft!
  9. I now make my own fillings and crusts too, but I used to get my fruits, whipped cream and crusts from them and they looked and smelled just like the real thing. I was very pleased. Very nice and good customer service too. I think you'll be very pleased.
  10. Sometimes the material is thin on that side and if picked up wrong, it rips. You didn't say how tall the mold was, but the taller or deeper they are, seems there's more chance of this happening. Sometimes if things are set on top of the mold, even for a short period, they can bend it out of shape enough to weaken the side if too thin. And of course, the quality of the silicone.
  11. Just back from a mini vacation and saw this. I checked it out with my attorney. Since I'm the maker of everything on my site and should know better, I never post any claims by customers such as "it helped my sceriosis"(sorry about the spelling-haven't finished my coffee yet!), only generic like" it made my skin feel so soft".
  12. When I first started selling online 11 years ago, the only online payment option I had was Paypal. Then a few years later, I added credit card direct processing, and sales went up 150%! Even though the credit card processing has always been good and strong, for some reason, in the past couple of months, Paypal purchases have far outweighed everything else. With the economy the way it is and the renewed interest in paying with Paypal, I would never let it go, especially since I do sell on eBay occasionally(as advertising for my site).:tiptoe:
  13. I only use first names, city, and state. I checked, and when you do it that way, you don't need permission.
  14. Knock on wood...all my boxed shipments are getting there in 2 days except one priority box that took 5 days:mad: . Letter mail...forget it...it's always been extremely slow.
  15. Nursenancy, yes, 50-50 just wouldn't work at all. I had to hold the flame to it forever to get it going, then burned for about 45 seconds - period! By adding more DPG, soaking overnight, then putting screening on top of a pan and setting the cones out on the screening to dry, they work perfectly everytime:yay: , and burn down to the very bottom.
  16. Wow, I've never had a problem after a couple of months. I mix mine 1 part fragrance oil to 2 to 3 parts DPG(depending on the "heaviness" of the scent. Half and half has never worked for me.
  17. If you are talking the chubby cones, they have to be air dried for a long time like Donna says. After 24 hours they can feel and look dry, but they're not inside. That's why when the flame gets to the chubbier part, it goes out. I used to make custom scented incense with these but had to quit because customers hated the long time for them to really dry.
  18. I'm with you, Quack Soap! I used to sell wholesale ages ago, but those people were so demanding, like they were doing me a favor, plus they always ordered short of leadtime and would bug me several times a day, every day wondering when the products would ship. It just wasn't worth it. When I realized I was making wages of some worker in a third world country, I quit, never looked back, and never have regretted it.
  19. Wow...those crocks are from the old Missy's Candles. I know because I ordered and have a ton of them myself. Great find!
  20. I've seen the full size bundt cakes on alot of websites for $29.99-30.00. I've seen them as high as $35.99, but those come with a plate and tons handmade potpourri also. The sites I've seen them on were mostly US sites, so we're talking US $s here.
  21. If that was Yaley gel you're talking about, it was the equivalent of Penreco low density, not medium. I called and asked them. I swear gel is the most expensive wax out there.
  22. Well, you might know, I tried Home Depot and Loews first. They don't carry it...only tiki torch oil with citronella. Kmart carries it though.
  23. Forgot about that:grin2: ...I'm past that stage:D ! But I would think you could put them up high enough where you don't have to worry.
  24. There's a thread on this site in the Business section...I remember reading it a couple of months ago. Do a search. I guess a couple people have done it and were pleased with the result.
  25. If you want to test them all for scent throw too, you would have to put each in completely different areas. Like putting one at each end of the house, or one in the house, one in the shop. Or put in a large room and close the door. That's the only way I know of testing both the wick and scent throw at the same time, unless you have enclosed testing area/cases. Of course, you'd want to keep a close eye on them while they are burning.
