Actually, I just checked out JS, and theirs is a non-emulsified (no water) in it. It would be easier for you to just make your own if that is the type that you want. As daniedb suggested it is simply sugar and oil(s). Here is their ingredients: INGREDIENTS: Refined Sugar, Almond Oil, Virgin Olive Oil, Glycerin, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Methylparaben Not sure why they are using the SLS, does it foam or bubbly slightly when you use it? The methylparaben is a preservative. The almond oil is the same as SAO or Sweet Almond Oil, and then the Virgin Olive Oil, like you would buy in the grocery store. HTH

You don't plan on using this on customers right away do you? There is nothing wrong with using a base if you choose too, however it may be a pain down the road to fragrance in front of the customer. If you are gonna do it at home (out of their vision) then just pull scrub out of your bucket or whatever, and place it into a steralized bowl on your scale. (make sure scale is tared with the bowl) add your fo/color by weight, and then put it into your jars and such. Easy! Is this an emulsified scrub, or an oil scrub?

Yep, a good friend suggested that, and it didn't work very well. The whole darn soap came out orange :embarasse I have a pic posted somewhere in here, since I have taken pictures of everything, lol! It was a lemongrass one. I am still playing and have a few new things to try this weekend! I am gonna try the IPS again too. Will post pics, LOL!

If she makes smaller batches, she will be able to use different scents on each. And putting it in a baggy either before or after fo is added, works great for a cheap and easy way to fill those bottles or malibu's!

Generally, you can stick the gallon of base in a sink with warm water, and that will warm it enough to add the fo. If she is only doing a container or two at a time, I wouldn't heat the whole gallon or so. I have cheated at times :embarasse And placed a bowl on my scale with a ziplock baggie in it, tare it, then add my amount of lotion for the container. Once it was weighed, I have tossed it in the micro for about 10 seconds or so, just enough to take the chill off, put it back on the scale and added color and fo. Get all the air out of the bag, seal it, cut the corner off, and you can easily pipe into your lotion bottle then. I *normally* make bigger batches of lotion and don't use this method, but if she is just testing, it would work. Don't get it too hot or you will kill a preservative, you just want to take the chill off. HTH I just realized that you said 1/2 - 1 oz fo, That must be for a whole gallon then, right?

I too think I would be considered as having a medium complexion. I am not fair, that is for sure. Never reallly thought about using mineral make-up, but if you need another tester, let me know

Not sure how to answer your question, but I sure hope there is, lol! I have been making a ton of it, and while I am NO WHERE ready to sell, I would like to one day add it to my line. I am making a bunch trying to find a recipe that I like, so that way eventually I may be able to sell some. And if I am never able to sell then I will be in a world of hurt, cuz I am having so much fun making it

Hmmm, will have to check mms out. On sooz sap is .179 and coconut was .183 (I think it said) Where as the coconut has other qualities as well as fatty acids and a iodine of 10 and an INS of 258. I am sorry to be a pain, I just would like to understand this. If it doesn't do much for soap, why would one use it?

That may be, but wouldn't it still have the coconut qualities to it? The one that is on sooz has NO qualities. I am not understanding that if the aloe butter is made up mostly of coconut. What the hell am I missing?

Nope, Crisco is nothing like that. It actually has hardness and other qualities, including fatty acids. However, as I said the Aloe butter is zilch on everything except 2 on iodine, and 200+ on INS. So I guess I am just trying to figure out what benefits it would add other than bringing everything else down while upping the INS Maybe I am just being too big of a PITA :rolleyes2

Our first big job for our new mod, lol! Or anyone else that can help me Ok, call me a dweeb :blushing: But since I am new to all of this, I have been doing a ton of reading, and playing with sooz. When you click on qualities of aloe butter, it adds 2 iodine and a bunch of INS. I haven't been paying alot of attention to the INS, cuz I can't manage to get a bar that is "balanced at 160" without using a ton of coconut, which I now know is the wrong thing to do, lol! Anyway, is adding aloe butter to help balance the bar? It didn't show any other qualities or fatty acids, just the iodine and INS. And if aloe is good for the skin, wouldn't the aloe butter have the same benefits, and if so, how come nothing shows up? Sorry to be a PITA! I sure hope someone can help me!

Which calculator are you using? If you use the one on www.thesage.com you can put in your oz of each ingredient and have it calculated. After it is calculated, then look at the percents, and if you are using www.soapcalc.com you can then transfer the percents from one over to the other. Make sense? And if you are using another calculator, then I don't have a clue! HTH
