  1. For FO that doesn't sound so bad. I pay about $3 per pound to get FO to Canada. So if you could get 20 lbs to Italy for $37 that is under $2/lbs. Do you pay less now? For me, that deal would be better than I pay now. Janette
  2. You might try a higher temp. to add the FO. Try 180 or 185. Some FO's don't bind with the wax well enough at a lower temp. Even though you may not be getting seepage at the lower temp it can make a difference with throw. Also, are you using additives such as vybar or polybar? Too much can lock up your scent. You may also find that a longer cure time is helpful. I have had candles with little throw get much much stronger after several weeks of curing. There is no definate solution in most cases...some FO's just don't work well with some waxes...and there are many variables to work out. Keep trying. Janette
  3. For that price you would think they could at least translate centimetres into inches correctly. Janette
  4. I found their Vanillla and Jasmine Absolute are very good. They throw like crazy in paraffin. Can't comment on soy or soap. They do have a 2 lbs min. They will send you 4 samples free...no shipping even. Janette
  5. No problem...glad I could be of help. Janette
  6. Yes...but get them to send you a sample so you can be sure it is what you remember. Janette
  7. It was years ago...but they sent me a partial list of their FO's. I think they have literally a thousand or more. Ask them for a list of "candle FO" as they make many other scent products. The Vanilla from Chemessence is: #21421. They also have a crazy number of FO's and usually several of each one. They will send you a free sample before you order to make sure it is what you want. 9. Pourette started in the 50's I think. But that was mold manufacturing, they re-sell FO.
  10. I used Walnut Hill also. When they burned down and stopped selling FO they gave me a list of the suppliers were the FO's I used were from. Here is what they gave me....Chemessence; Andrea Aromatics and Alpine. There was one more but I don't remember it. Chemessence had the vanilla. I think they had other suppliers as well but HTH. Chemessence will send you 4 free samples at a time, before you order. Janette
  11. Love those...great colours and great lines. Janette
  12. I give family and friends my wholesale price and lots of freebies. This only includes those who are close friends...not every person I know. Janette
  13. I do understand your concern....but it is possible that they will have frequent, small orders to place if they sell the way you mentioned. I'm not sure how you can gaurd against them just ordering for themselves or friends. Maybe you will just have to go with your gut instict with them. Do you already know these people? How well? If you want to participate you may need to take the leap of faith and see how it goes. You could tell them up front that if they don't sell enough, you will want to end the deal with them. If they are legitimate, the number of orders they recieve may vary greatly from party to party. I am sure that there customers will expect to get there product in a timely manner so they may not be able to wait and piggy back orders from different parties to place one sizeable order. Not sure what to suggest for you. Maybe there are others on the board that already sell this way and will be of better help. Hope it works out for you. Janette
  14. I require a minimum for first orders on wholesale, (24 candles). This way at least they have enough to create a display. On subsequent orders I have no min. as I want them to keep things restocked as often as possible. I find that most of my accounts order more than 24 each time anyway as they can save on shipping. HTH Janette
  15. Both are great....that purple one is groovy:cool2: Nice work. Janette
  16. I use NG's and haven't noticed any fuel smell. Are you smelling it OBB or when candle is lit? It could also just be your nose is very sensitive to it. I tested several "peaches" last summer that many people gave great reviews and to me all of them had a strange chemical smell that I couldn't get past. JM2C. Janette
  17. Thanks for the replies. I will start with the longer wick tabs and see how things go. I'm not sure I will ever get these to retail anyway...glassware is pricey here and not sure I will be able to come up with a marketable price in the end. I have some soy on its way to me and going to test essential oils to try and come up with a more "natural" product, but the whole glue issue has kept me from trying at all. Cheers, Janette
  18. Pourette sells a two part RTV Silicone for mould making. The directions with it are very simple, its difficult to go wrong...however one package will only make a small mould. I think I also saw a new product on Candlewic's site which is similar. HTH Janette
  19. My concern with that is...the general public isn't likely to follow directions. I think that most consumers will burn a container to the very end regardless of being advised not to. Janette
  20. So what happens when you get down to the bottom of a container candle and the glue starts to heat up? Does it give off any smell? Is it toxic? I realize the need for sticking the wick to the bottom of the container but wonder about the end burn. And no I have never made or even used a container candle, they are just not my thing...but I'm getting ready to give them a whirl. TIA Janette
  21. Pink Sugar Lily of the Valley Fresh Linen Black Cherry Bomb (be careful with this one, less is more) Spiced Cranberry Spiked Eggnog Banana Kiwi Rootbeer Cucumber Melon Egyptian Dragon Ruby Red Grapefruit Janette
  22. I don't see any reason you couldn't. Peak's citronella seems to have good reviews. I'm not sure that an FO will have any repellant qualities though. Janette
  23. Just because the candles are made in the U.S. doesn't mean that the wax used was as well. I was approached a few years ago by a fellow candle maker who imports his wax from China. He offered to sell wax to me, and said it was 30% less than what I pay for wax here in Canada. I declined his offer as it is important to me to buy Canadian products rather than something imported from overseas. Janette
  24. Hi Starlessjade, I know what you are trying to come up with. I did some researching last year on this very subject. Seems to me that microcrystalline wax is what would work the best for your canes...comes in several types...you may need to blend your own. I have some Micro 5702 (numbers may be different in U.S.) that I intended to try but never did. It is semi-hard but plyable...once the cane is built it may be able to be warmed slightly if sealed in a bag and submerged in warm water, allowing you to slice it. As for the candle that you apply the millefiori to, a regular pillar may work fine, but I would go for the larger diameters ie: 4" or larger, and under wick the candle. This way the walls of the candle would remain intact and the candle would burn down the center. I hope you come up with a method...please post pictures if you succeed. HTH Janette
