  1. Wondering what size jars (and how large the opening is) you are using? Also, how big of a room are you attempting to scent? Is there air conditioning, fans, etc in the room you are burning in? I have used many of NG's scents with great success.....And I use zincs almost exclusively with no problems with hot throw..... Try burning your candle in a smaller closed room (like bathroom) to see if you are able to smell anything after a couple of hours of burning Are you able to smell the scent out of the bottle (oob)? Just a few of my thoughts for troubleshooting.......Good Luck!
  2. mix the 6228 with your container blend....75% 6228 and 25% container (soft) wax....works/throws great in tarts..... for votives it is awesome....the only problem with 6228 is it is getting increasingly more difficult to find.....
  3. I think there are alot of folks on the board who use OT - I use alot of their fo's - but mostly for soap and b&b.....if you are looking for fo's for candles, maybe someone else will give their opinion cause I have poured just a couple of candles and I must say, what I poured Rocks! I use J223, zinc wicks and apothecary jars and the hot and cold throw is amazing.... Also, if you do a search you will probably find some reviews....just search for Oregon Trails..... If you soap, the fo's are outstanding....she tests in cp soap and doesn't add a scent until she has let the soap cure for a couple of months so the descriptions tells you about discoloration and acceleration, etc. Debbie
  4. Maybe the palm waxes? They give feathery, different looks. Not exactly sure what you are looking for?
  5. Oregon Trails has some great fo's and she tests extensively for use in cp soap - She also has some of the best flavorings I have ever tasted (for lip balms). www.oregontrailsoaps.com Debbie
  6. Congratulations on the 'big win'!! Sounds like you had some stiff competition and came out on top! Isn't Michael a doll? Wish I could have gone to IGCA - Texas was great fun but sounds like you got to learn lots also.....the workshops sound great. And POST your winners!! Congrats again!
  7. Hey Michael - I don't think there is any 'stigma' attached to QVC - they carry lots of 'name brands' and other unique/unusual stuff. I love QVC Quacker Factory Sweaters for the holidays and bought a hand carved wool rug (that I think I got for a steal!) that is beautiful! I have also bought several other things from QVC and have been satisfied. I haven't watched much lately but go on-line when I am looking for something unusual or holiday stuff! Debbie
  8. I don't see Cindy trying to help anyone - just complaining about the way suppliers offer sales - if you want a supplier to post a good sale here, ask them! Are we supposed to tell you each time we find out about sales? Do you post to 'spread the word' about sales you know about? I think this entire thread is intended to stir up sh*t....jmo
  9. If you know about the sale, why not just go to where the sale is, get the code (or whatever) and order? ....Now we are gonna tell suppliers where they 'should' (so f**king dysfunctional) post their sales? Or tell them if they run a sale on one site, they should post their sale everywhere? Why don't you contact the supplier and ask that they run a sale here on CT? You only get the sale price from SW if you join their mailing list and have their code....and JS has a weekly sales email - other suppliers only post their sale here at CT - you get the point! IMO if you don't like the way a supplier advertises, don't buy from them! But to suggest what they might offer to one group MUST be offered to all is just plain ignorant!
  10. Stacy just posted her sale for the new 'dreamy dessert' collection - had to get me one of each of them....:undecided Got to sniff a couple of them at the TCC and they were to die for.....love those dessert scents! And hers are the bomb! I got the cherry meringue bites, Ile Flottante, oh shoot - I got a pound of each! They sound so decadent! www.DayStarSupplies.com I challenge you to go read the descriptions and not buy.....
  11. I have soaped several of the Old Mill Fragrances - I find they are very very light! Off the top of my head I have soaped Baton Rouge, Bacca de Miel and Blackberry Vienesse Latte and found each of them to be light on the fragrance. I certainly wouldn't go up to 2 oz pp, jeez - way too expensive but use them in other applications......
  12. I think I may have traded that for 2#'s of that Scent Works fragrance....thought I got a great bargain....in fact I know I did! That was the night you had to drink the wine all by yourself! :laugh2:
  13. What a blast.... Bunny, Anita, and Vertically were outstanding and did great presentations! Kimberly won 1st place for her beautiful packaging of her kitchen soap - man what a beautiful presentation!! The company was outstanding and the real 'learning' went on in the hotel.....(and I learned stuff I never knew existed! ) And who would have thought that Bunny would have been interested in learning about tuna and grape soap?? VE - hope your hernia is feeling better....and you make your 1st million on Bunny's generous donation! TB - I must confess, we took all the poop home - been munching on them and they are great! Kerry - didn't get a chance to say good-bye - hope you are feeling better. Never did find out how those emt's looked?? Pictures?? Anyhow, the week-end was great - getting the chance to meet everyone was so much fun - don't remember when I have laughed as hard or long! Thanks y'all! Debbie
  14. Well Bunny this may not be my most favorite soap that you have done but it certainly is one of the most unique ones you have done - at least since the mayonaise.......Ohhhh ahhhh! Am really wondering how the hell you scented this one - where is the fo from? Texas has brought out the creative juices in you huh? The conference brought about many new ideas.....this was just one of the better ones.... Hugs to all those Texas sisters who made the conference so much fun (and tolerable!!) Debbie
  15. Ann, I am really liking the 70/30 from GL - ordered me several cases to pu in Lufkin - although it is getting pretty pricey! But what isn't these days? I have always (at least the past several years) used J223 but tried the 70/30 and liked it! I use zinc wicks - got a great throw little bit of white sooting (so it was very difficult to see).... That is too bad about Wicks Wares - weren't they the ones with the apothecary jars? I had emailed them about getting them delivered at the conference.....man anything to save on shipping! I leave for Bunny's in just a couple of hours - so excited!! See y'all soon!
  16. I am so tired right now I may not bring anything except myself! Had two big orders to get out (ok well big for me), flood stuff to still clean up, boxes (that got wet) to finish emptying, laundry to do, granddaughter to get ready for her trip, dogs to get ready, horses needed worming and one needs antibiotics so I needed to teach the kid that helps me out how to give shots, 4th of July food (ok so I bought most of it), and a thief to hate (you know how much energy hating takes)! OK done whining!!! I am so looking forward to this little trip....leaving for Bunny's tomorrow morning around 6am, not coming back until Bunny throws me out! Kimberly I got your blender - now to get it in the truck! I can't wait to meet you! And of course, all the rest of everybody!! I am gonna get drunk and sleep!! See you all very soon!! Debbie
  17. Jewleweed.....it works miracles!! Try the salve - I have used it on my grandkids and myself and was amazed! And the emu oil is great for the spots that have been scratched - really promotes the healing!
  18. Anita, I can't even remember what all I have put in my boxes....so if you could just bring some oil(s) to do soap or/and maybe scrubs? I have put lots of fo's, sugars, some other stuff in my boxes....will bring all my soaping stuff (like bowls, pot, mold) and I know we have the lye covered.....So whatever you think I have forgotten, just throw it in your box.... And anyone else not flying in - just bring what you think we will need.... :laugh2: I am sure I will forget something since I have been putting stuff in boxes for a couple of weeks - but an ass*** stole one of my boxes and I can't remember what was in it except fo's....
  19. Kaybee - Just bring whatever you want because Bunny is never gonna say to bring something.... She just wants to absorb all the cost of 'stuff' lol She is such a character! I say bring some butter and containers Scented if you want to do a slab soap I have a slab mold that holds 3 pounds...I will bring it....Bunny taught me how to swirl in the slab and now I am awesome :rolleyes2 .....But with a log mold and swirling in the pot I suck! And I hate the log molds....love me some slabs! What is the deal with the purse? Someone here makes purses? Oh I am gonna be a pro at stealing - think I have been taught by the masters!! 3 days and counting!!
  20. Cool - bath pills work for me - never even took a bath till I started making bath salts.....now I love it so I know I will like the fizzy bath bombs!
  21. Tell me what ingredients I should bring....getting another box together....that f****g a***hole that broke into my house and stole my box of fo's I was bringing.....damn druggie....anyhow getting some more boxes together....tell me what to bring for fizzy and bubbly....sls, lite oil, preservatives, sugars, salts (?), glycerin, citric acid, and ???? I know I must be forgetting a bunch of stuff....No Bunny - it is not Bohunks - hell I just throw in some raw, some white, some fo, some oil(s), some preservative and I'm good to go.... :laugh2: Something like that anyhow! But how about an emulsifying scrub? Hey Bunny I found the meadowfoam oil....life is good! It is now in my 'to go' box. Debbie
  22. I wasn't talking about anything homemade....lol I suppose somewhere in Texas I could find fudge or brownies (but only the decadent kind!) or something someone else made to bring.....Don't have a clue what kind of 'snacks' (other than the cabana boy) we want but I will find something good at Price Club!! Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory - omg - to die for......The Price Club in San Diego used to carry it.....wonder if Houston does too? Anyhow guess I will find something.... Sugar scrubs are easy - hey bun should I bring some raw sugar and the white sugar we can get out of those little packets lol - ok I'll bring a bag of sugar also...and containers to do sugars? I think I have some 2 or 4 oz - gonna go look in a bit, so glad that MMS puts all their stuff in plastic bags otherwise I would have to put them out to dry..... (not really funny but what the hell) Actually I like the salts better than the sugar.....but I guess it is all the same....smells good, makes the tub slippery as hell, and feels pretty good slathering it on! Scented do you have a recipe you like? I can bring mine and I am sure Bunny has an awesome one....lol maybe mine came from Bunny!! i'll bring some preservative, some fo's, some oils and containers..... Anyone have a need for any 'bug off' spray? Full of eo's, really good stuff - I use it for the mosquitoes and also use it on the horses.....Anyhow, if anyone wants any, let me know....maybe I will bring some anyway and just force it on you! (Just the bug blend of eo's and cyclo).... I do realize I am just babbling....will go now....see you all soon Debbie
  23. I just want someone to talk about the conference.....I am getting so anxious.... I sure wish they were having a demo on rustic pillars....maybe e will come and do a demo?? :undecided I used to think they were ugly....now I like them! Or maybe it is just the ones e makes that I like so much. And maybe someone (Bunny?) will teach me how to do bath bombs? I really want to learn how to do those....or and also those bubble bars everyone has been talking about (like Lush).....Any teachers out there for any of these things? What are we gonna do for demo's after the day? (Keep it clean :laugh2: ) What things are y'all wanting to do? Are y'all bringing snacks? I mean besides poop? What can I bring? Are we having a pool party with the cabana boy? 4 days and I will be at Bunny's - Bunny - are there any nail places that do pedicures? My feet are so funky and I love having someone rub all over my feet....lmao.....Gosh going to the 'big city' is gonna be exciting! Kimberly can't you come a day earlier? Please................. I am so excited just for the chance to go to Price Club....:rolleyes2 Boy it doesn't take much to please me! My truck will be so full of tp and paper towels.....Hate Sams miss Price Club (and especially their hot dogs....lol) Debbie
  24. I like wet things and sleepless nights too......as is evidenced by the all nighter I just pulled, sloshing around my candle room and office in water almost to my ankles!! Had an awesome geyser spewing out of a pipe to the ceiling right behind my hot water heater......So I figured if I was up, Bunny should be also so I called her at 2:30 AM - figures....she was asleep! But, like the awesome Bun that she is, she stayed up and talked to me off and on till 4....(I think she thought I was gonna totally flip out and become hysterical - shit so did I...) I am getting my practice in for staying up late (bedtime is usually 9pm ) with y'all! My white elephant gift is surely gonna be something a small little chinese lady made....and sold to a great store in Texas who then sold it to me! I thought I had seen earlier a $15 (or so) price on the gift? Or did I just imagine it?? Has anyone heard any details about the swaps? I had thought maybe I would participate in the soap swap but still haven't heard how much, type, details??!! OK got to go take a nap......or I will surely turn into a stark raving lunatic (ok so I am already close to that but it will get worse.....lol) BTW Tanna - change hotels! The difference in cost is small compared to the experiences you will have at the Comfort Inn - that goes for the rest of you who choose the Holiday Inn.....come on over! Debbie
  25. Well ty all for clarifying the attire thingy......barefoot and braless......Oh Texas is going to be a hoot!!! Sure am glad digital cameras don't use film....I'd go broke :laugh2:
