Email from JT on the Texas Conference
smart tart replied to AnitaG's topic in Business Side of Things
Hey Bunny bec mon cheau (spelling in french is impossible for me but you get the drift!)..... OK back to the b**ch I usually am! Verticles' post left me wondering - what are you all planning on wearing to this thing? I was just gonna do a t-shirt and shorts.....or should it be 'business attire'? If so, I am still just wearing t-shirt and shorts! And Georgia - honey you can 'butt in' anytime you want - just tell em I said it is OK! (See Bunny back to me normal self!) -

I really have to be serious now.....and I will just apologize in advance if I offend anyone or my opinion isn't what the consensus is..... I think it is flattering that JT wants y'all to maybe hang around and entertain the troops.....however......I have to agree with Kaybee that I thought after the conference was over, we were gonna hang out, drink foo foo punch, and just get to know each other and shoot the shit....(so to speak) or shoot the moose poo......Call me selfish but this might be my only chance to meet all of you (or at least for a while) and I don't want to share.... (But Kaybee - not pizza??!! Ok I will even go along with that!) I will go along with whatever the group wants to do, but this is my opinion (and the cabana boy is non-refundable! ) -

I volunteer!! Find out if they have a blender - I volunteer to teach Margarita Making 101! :laugh2: Or Cosmo making 102.....Wonder if JT will provide supplies?? :undecided Man it would seem as if y'all's reputation proceeds you (notice how I left myself out of that )..... Did anyone tell her what we planned to do at the hotel?? I have already reserved the 'cabana boy' for us..... Debbie -
White Elephant Exchange for Texas Candlemaking
smart tart replied to AnitaG's topic in Business Side of Things
Does the White Elephant have to be 'home made'? I'm seriously having a problem finding something for this....gonna try to shop on my way to Bun's but....:undecided Please tell me I can buy something in a cute little boutique or whatever (dollar store.... ) on my way to Texas.....please..... What is the deal with the pool party? OK just got to elicit promises of no laughter for my stick bird legs..... Oh and the fact that I look pregnant is only because 20 years ago when I had my son they left some in.....they just didn't know what they know now (and explains some of my sons' behavior!) I leave for Bun's in a week - I am so needing this vacation!! Well maybe you all look at it as a conference.....for me it is a vacation with a chance to meet some great people!! Debbie -
White Elephant Exchange for Texas Candlemaking

Kimberly had a good idea earlier when she said 'support our fellow crafters' - I have searched and not been able to find anything.....making me very stressed but I just know when I get to Bunny's I will find something :undecided I will keep looking but Bunny be on the look-out for me.....anyhow I will find something good....I hope! Debbie -
try calling around to some cleaning supply places - and again, Lowes has it in their plumbing department....someone posted a picture of the container. I finally found a janitorial supply place that was able to get me 50# pails of it...and the price is much, much cheaper! And I live in a town of only 10000 people.....might not be easy, but some phone calls or let your 'fingers do the walking' in the yellow pages for janitorial supply/cleaning supplies - you'll find it! Good luck! Debbie

lmao :laugh2: So that is your story and you're sticking to it??? -
Ok so blame it on old age.....that post was so long I could no longer remember who is going to the conference....(need to make sure I am safe, don't cha know But keeping my duct tape on me just in case) And it would be great if we could all identify who is who and which hotel they are staying in. Anyhow, if you would like to help an old lady, please tell me who you are and which hotel you are staying in......and maybe your real name? 1. Smart Tart Comfort Inn (Debbie) 2. Bunny Comfort Inn (I could post it but then she would kill me!! :laugh2: Should I?? Nah I guess Bunny will do) 3. Kimberly Comfort Inn 4.

It pays to remember, you 'usually' get what you pay for! When I first started I thought I had found all these great deals....but :undecided I spent a whole lot of money for stuff that was cheap, but not that good....(usually) Good luck!

I walked through Hobby Lobby...
smart tart replied to queen_for_a_day's topic in General Candle Making Discussions
Welcome......You might want to read some of the tutorials and helpful hints for newbies - they are very helpful....And there is a search function on the board.....you may find lots of your questions answered there....if not, feel free to post them! Yes it is certainly possible to use regular parafin and gel....there is a gel section here and if you have questions regarding the gel that would be the place to ask.....Your fo neds to be gel safe even in a mixture of waxes... But again, Welcome!! Debbie -
cause they only ship ups.....but you are right, that is bs for 4 oz....I bid on a bunch also and she will combine for shipping....hoping I win a bunch cause I will be pissed off to have to pay $9 for 4 oz......oh well

Why do you care what she is selling them for? (Not intended as a smart ass question, just wondering) Was this a consignment deal? Or did she buy them outright (wholesale)? Pretty wierd if she owns her store and you had to explain the difference between wholesale and retail.... :undecided But as long as she has paid your price, it's all good.....don't worry about it! You have made your $$

Margarita's Good Lord - Look what y'all have done to me! I don't even drink!! Well not much anyhow!! I think I will be like Deb - the one who keeps everyone in line and behaving! :laugh2: OK Kimberly - do you have your list together? Liners, grease, and something to clean up super glue! Bunny - we should do good together - you with the super glue and me with the duct tape! Just got to keep Scented away from all that stuff! -
I have never known Peaks to 'push' anything :undecided Their mango papaya is great in 223 and 6228 - has a great hot and cold throw - although it is not my favorite lots of others seem to really like it!

Sinus relief scent from NG-help
smart tart replied to elitenaildesign's topic in General Soap Making
Candle - Not unique but sure works good! Color - White Name - Sinus Relief Additives - ?? (nothing for a candle) Cigar Band Clip Art - Big old nose This stuff is awesome....use it for my family (who have major allergies and sinus problems)......It also helps with the snoring.....I have a 4 year old granddaughter who snores louder than anyone I have ever heard....burn a candle in her room and she sleeps quietly.... -
You are correct - her site seems to load very very slowly for me....does take forever but.....I find it worth it

Changes in the J223 formula?
smart tart replied to VickiB in CA's topic in General Candle Making Discussions
I use 223 - just bought some more last month....I also use zinc wicks and haven't noticed a problem. However.....with that said, I am changing to the GL 70/30 after next month..... I double wick the 10 and 16 oz apothecaries with 44 z's and have had no problem.....I also make the 1/2 pint canning jars with 51's and they burn fine - marathon burns cause sooting if I don't trim but other than that I am not seeing a problem (and of course, that is my fault for the marathon burns). I have read where people have been having a problem and they were thinking it was the wax :undecided I guess I have just been lucky! -

ISO Dupe for Exotic by The Body Shop
smart tart replied to angiestaff's topic in Fragrance Discussion
If you do a quick search for SOS here you will find many people like their stuff......I'm sure you will find lots of info with the search.... Like all suppliers, some people love SOS and some are not so thrilled with them Hope doing the search helps you.... Debbie -
Container wax may be too soft for tarts :undecided ....could be that is why you are having trouble getting them out of the mold. Perhaps try mixing some pillar wax with the container wax, I use a 75%(pillar wax)/25%(container wax) blend for tarts.

I have bought embeds several times now from www.gelewood.com and have not been disappointed! She frequently runs excellent sales (bogo, 20% off, etc) - her prices are great and the quality is outstanding! Love her fruits - colors are very good, they do not bleed or melt and her pie crusts, etc are very good. Shipping is quick, she packages very well - have never had a broken piece, and she is great at communicating! All in all (ya think?? ) I think her stuff is great with great pricing! Debbie
