  1. I know they are on the higher price side but BB has a really nice modern citrus rose blend called Rose Quartz that I LOVE. It should be noted that it’s pretty heavy handed on the citrus though....perhaps the reason I like this is that the Rose is not very detectable.
  2. So I’ve spent the last couple of months testing all sorts of different FO’s in GB 464. After researching and reading archives and opinions I haven’t found a clear answer. My question is: Do you deduct your FO% from your wax so that you pour an exact amount of product with no overage? ex: 16oz (wax) x 0.08 (FO%) = 1.28 16 - 1.28 = 14.72 14.72 wax 1.28 FO I’m curious what YOU do and what your opinions may be. I’ve been doing it this way with no real issues until recently when I purchased some Crafters Choice oils to test at 8% FL and there is definitely seepage. I heated 11.04 oz wax to 185, added 0.96 of Oatmeal Stout FO at 170 and poured at 145–divvied up between 4 9oz straight sided jars so that I could wick test. I’m thinking I’m just not doing this correctly if there is seepage.....should I lower the FL%, don’t subtract any wax, or both?
  3. Black Cherry Merlot by CS is nice and rich and I can see it working for spring or as a whenever. I like Black Currant Absinthe by CS as well. The Blackcurrant Tea is also good but perhaps it’s a little lighter/sweeter than your looking for. Candle Cocoon has a nice Mulberry + Moonbeams. Wasn't what I was expecting but still nice.
  4. I am obsessed with Candle Cocoons Masala Chai because you can really smell the milk in it. I do have trouble getting a full bodied throw with it though even after playing with the fragrance load. I think I want to add something to it to make it richer because it weirdly feels “thin” if that makes sense. I tried a bit of CS’s Chai and it’s just not doing it. It just made it sweeter. Any thoughts on what I can add to CC’s Masala Chai? I thought maybe something with more cream and cardamom. I’ll take any and all recommendations. 😊
  5. I was actually coming in here to write about this scent! Ha It reminds me of something in old church incense. It’s my goal to make a ‘holy smoke’ blend
  6. I’m sure some of you might be sick of seeing this come up (sorry, I’m only a few months into this!) I dove deep into the archives on this topic and given some of the batch inconsistencies I figured I would ask again... I’m in MA and have a candle supply company (Candle Chem) 15 min away from me where I get my GB464. I’ve been using and only just started testing that with CD’s and ECO’s. I have gotten pretty good ct/ht in general but it’s hit or miss and I suspect I may have been over wicking so I’m trying to dial that in. I still have a lot of things to learn along the way for sure but before I get too deep down the rabbit hole of 464 I just found out I have a C3 supplier (GAC Wholesale) that is 1 hour from me. Im sure both waxes have their pros and cons but I’m willing to put in the work for reasonably smoothish tops and a great HT. If wicked correctly do you perceive C3 to throw better than 464? Is C3 as finicky with pour temps and ambient room temp? My workspace gets so drafty that I literally have to jack my heat up to 74 when doing batches of 464 (poured between 135-145) or my tops are garbage. I don’t mind the extra drive or learning a new wax if it’s possible to avoid or at the very least curb some of these annoyances. I’m not sure what else to add but I would really appreciate any and all input! 😬
  7. I wouldn’t mind spending the money on good quality FO accords but all those Lab & Co. oils are their own blends...I like mixing my own scents 🤷🏻‍♀️
  8. Are these suited for candles? They are ridiculously expensive—but aside from the price, is this an essential oil or fragrance oil blend? I was looking for a good Santal FO to use for a Christmas gift candle and this came up in the search. As far as I can see there’s no instructions for use on the site...Would you use this as you would a regular concentrated FO? https://www.stonecandles.com/collections/fragrances
  9. I just got CS’s Lemon Pound Cake and that thing POPS! Maybe blending a little bit of cream scent would meld it all together and make it transition.
  10. Business question. I know everyone has a different market and business model so I’m sure the answer varies widely but—is there a general guideline for how much is ideal to pay for your candle containers? How much is too much? I know you factor it into your retail price but is there a general rule for what an individuals price cap for a vessel should be? Based on percentages etc? I’m racking my brain and I’m not finding useful info when I search...
