  1. The scales generally don't say -2 or whatever the weight of the item you had on the scale when you hit tare. It is programed (till you turn off or the scale turns off on you) to read zero at 2 ozs or whatever the weight was.
  2. I personally would question the accuracy of her memory, It seems she may not remember it exactly as the situation occured, I have never seen a candle get hot enough to make the label burst into flames on the outside of the jar, and believe me when I first started candle making I was of the mindset, the bigger the wick the better!! :lipsrseal The only thing I can think of the would be similar in situations is if the label was made of thermal paper? when thermal paper gets hot it turns black like it had been burned.... But that would be a silly choice in materials on the makers part.
  3. I have read all the threads related to the 4627 and have gotten a case to try out, I currently am using a Stainless steel spoon and heating it in the wax in my presto for a few seconds and then dishing out some from the box, after several attempts at other methods this one seems to work the best, anyone have an easier way?? I am loving the HT and CT, the adhesion is great and I have test burned one today and love it, I have been a faithful 4630 user since the get go but I think if I have found my new wax, if I can find an easier way to get it from the box to the presto I would be all set!! Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
  4. My mom has one that I made and it still smells great after 2+ years, she has used the hair dryer once on it!

  8. I have gotten something similar at Joanns, it is made by wilton and was about 10 bucks! It is made by wilton HTH.
  9. it all depends on shipping really. There could be a place in Ca (for example) that sells them for 5.00 a case but the shipping would be more than if you bought them for (say) 5.50 a case locally or close (so shipping would be less)
  10. A repour is where you pour {over the wax already in your tart mold} from the same batch or another batch of the same {use your notes to make a batch the same as the tarts you have in your mold}. HTH and good luck! There is a ton of info on this site for beginers you can utilize the search feature to find answers quickly, generally quicker than if you waited for an answer here on the board!
  11. I am working on some bakery candles (bundt cakes, cinn. buns) for a shop I sell in... other than that I am scoping out the craft fair I am thinking of trying out....
  12. Violet, depending on the size of the Jar I use just clothespins to center the wick, on my 8ozers it works out well to lay the clothesoin on its side, then pull the wich through the hole in the spring! the clothes pin centers it really well!
  13. looks pretty good to me, If you don't mind I stole it, looks better than my excel sheet!
  14. I buy my jars with the rustic lids now but before I did I would buy spray paint at wal-mart. The kind I used had a texture to it, I think it was called hammered metal or something, anyhow it comes in several colors, I bought the closest to rust. they looked great!! I did generally rough up the lids with a bit of sandpaper before spraying though HTH!

  22. I have 2 pots one with a spigot and one without, I prefer the one without! I just dip the wax out into my pitcher and mix fo and dye in it. The spigot always gets super hot and is hard to close all the way, I got it off the classies and didn't realize it was the kind that have a water faucet handle... that learned me! I ask for pics now!
