Let me spread some info here. Empire is a very low quality candle. You and every marketing guru that help run candle companies into the ground just dont get it. Candle making is not about getting the price to the lowest possible cost. It is about getting the best product out there for the best price. They do not teach that in BEANCOUNTING in college. That is why the mistakes continue on and on. I see it all the time. Now why do you have to make candles to market them? Is it that you want to be what Empire is but different? The real reason is not clear at all to me at this point. Your wick price is way too high and your jar cost sounds low, maybe thats without the lid? Your asking ways is worse then when i was going to make pillars and i sounded the same way and got blasted, but i undersood why, and decided i have other things to do before i tackle that monster. This should be interesting for sure.

I was asking for resources, my website isnt up yet and am still debating the one wick 2 wick thing. May offer the one wick option but offer the 2 wick as standard. I like the capper for the one wick because you can keep the long burn time and still get a complete burn on them all.

If i heard correctly, that would be the Votives, not the jar candles. Whats crazy is with soy, you get great burn times but with 10% to 20% wax left on the sides 110 to 140 or so for a med jar with one wick. But now people rather have no wax on the sides, and have 2 wicks and 65 to 80 hours. Guess you have to give them what they want.

I know, only works with the one wick.

Is this just a weak candle scent and better for soap? I got mine from the candlestore.

Only food and jewlery will make money this time of the year with a few exceptions. Candles kick but in the sept to dec7th selling period. If you continue they will remember you and buy when they are ready. We did 2 shows and basically broke even but already people have noticed us from the 2 shows and are taking business cards etc.

I like the board but i have not heard anything great from alabasters fos. Typically i heard they are weak compared to other suppliers.

Over the last year i noticed a huge increase in the air pockets in Yanksters candles, the line is filling to fast obviously. I sold Yankster in my store not so long ago so i know all there is to know about them. Volume and not quailty is the only objective. Beanopod sales increases year over year was great, i do not have the numbers in front of me though. Maybe 3 times the growth rate or more considering they dont have all the little non-candle items yet. They did and still have a soy line called YC and they never sold it as a soy candle, nor did they make it themselves NOR did they use good scents or the top scents from the standard line. Someone mentioned they signed a agreement with Hannahs for another run at low end soy candles, not sure what or when but they wont make a candle as good as what we all make. Lets just keep kicking them in the shins till they drop.

You are doing nothing wrong, the oils you picked maybe wont work in other waxes either. Lots of bad oils out there. Sample and burn away.

Root is 30% soy. Not much, and the pumpkin spice burns black.

You will be suprised how little some suppliers know. Soy is a veggy oil. Whatever the additives are, which may include parafin make it less pure then what we are making.

My father will be 75 in June. I understand the steps thing. He lives in a bi-level. He has to go down about 12 steps to smoke in the garage. I am sure he will soon switch to the bathroom once the new windows get put in. Watching him age isnt fun, he had some surgeries and all right after he retired. Hes doing fine but as he said, some days are better then others but all days have aches here and there. I think when we reach that age we should be put on a small IV of happy pills and pain killers. jmo. Enjoy the fishing and family during this time.

Since I know a chemist, I know that certain chemicals burn off quickly in hot throw and some can Take the heat and stay strong the whole burn time. One of the worst Fos even though people like it is cranberry chutney. It is sooty and in tarts it is one of the shortest scent lifes out there. That is why you test till your nose hairs fall out.
