  1. those are beautiful!! you are a person of many talents!
  2. I was a straight parafin user for the first 5 years of making candles and when astro sold, I had nothing but problems with the j50 so I tested a lot of waxes. I had customers requesting soy, so I tested some of those-God bless the ones who have the patience to deal with straight soy. I now use the GL 70/30 blend and get the benifit of both types of waxes. It is great I have had a few jars frost, but it was because I poured too cold. This wax is very easy to use and has an awesome hot and cold throw and burns awesome. HTH Amy
  3. I am glad you had a great day. You display looks great. Before too long you will be a pro at these!
  4. I love making them too.I think it is very theraputic to make them. shaking the jars is a family affair-my kids love to shake them and my family comes over quite a bit for dinner and cards and my jars are always on the table getting passed to shake. my brothers think I neglect :rolleyes2 the beads too much and don't shake them enough. My brothers are kinda well we just won't say.... I follow BCN's directions for the ornies. 1T of oil to 4T of beads. Some of the oils are thicker and need more beads added to cure completly.
  5. Ok, thank you. I will give it a try. Amy
  6. I would like to attmpt to start embeding photos. I have some 6228/1 I have played with a little and I think I got it, but it is discontinued and I need to find anohter wax to use. Any suggestions on the best wax to make these? Thank you, Amy
  7. I make firestarters for my own use and I use wicks in them. Much easier to start that way. For the ones I sell, I use potpouri and pinecones and just make sure they are sticking out the top for customers to light.
  8. Love them-especially the victorian ones. I am a sucker for anything from that era!
  9. those are beautiful!!! He is a very talented man!
  10. Last year Sam's sold them in a basket they were red and green. They had about 12 normal size cones and the basket was shrink wrapped. They were selling for 19.99. I sell my sugar pine cones dipped for around $15.00 I get them for free, so it is just the cost of wax.
  11. I agreee with the candle nose and air flow. I will burn a candle and I can't smell it and it is not throwing, so I usually give it to a neighbor or family member to burn and they tell me it smelled up their entire house. Go figure. :rolleyes2
  12. I too do the juggling act. I have 11 and 5 yr old boys and a 3 yr old girl and boy do they keep me a hopping. They love to help, so I find jobs they can do. My 11 yr old loves to do votives-he takes out the wick pins and puts in the wicks and trims them. My 5 yr old gets to put all the warning labels on the bottom of my containers and my 3 year old gets to put the wicks in to the containers ( I give her the bag of wicks to put into the jars). I also tell them what colors I am making and let them choose the order I make them in. You just have to start from the begining and let them know that it is hot and put the yuck stickers on scents so they know it is bad. I always have something like Dora on for my 3 yr old to keep her kind of busy. I do like the duct tape idea though. I will have to keep that in mind!!!
  13. Holiday Wassil GL Homespun sugar BCS Black Current GL Country Berry Hotcakes BCN Pink Sugar BCN Just to name a few. I love this wax!!!!!
  14. When I first started making candles, I lived about 35 minutes from them and I use most of their stuff. I have never had a problem with anything and love their scents. Most of the dupes are dead on and very high quality. I live in Idaho now and still order from them a little more on the shipping, but their stuff is well worth it!!!! They have excellent customer service and are very helpful. HTH Amy
  15. Yummy. Looks great. Bet it smells great too. I think I might just make me a batch right now.
  16. I love them. I wish I had time to try those. Great job:wink2:
  17. I had never tried soy before, and really wasnt't that interested in it, but I got the free 1 lb sameple of the GL 70/30 and loved it, so I ordered a case. It is awesome. The throw is unvelievable and the candles look great, so I switched to this wax. You might give them a try.
  18. OMG that sucks. It is going to be a light one this year....:embarasse
  19. I have been making candles for almost 6 years now and have used the J-50 since I started. After Astro sold to IGI, that wax has not been the same at all, it looks different, it pours different, it sets up different, and I couldn't get a throw for the life of me. It is not the supplier, it is the manufacturer. I finally started testing other waxes and I really like the IGI 4627 it is very similar to the J-50, and I absolutly love the GL 70/30. I have not tried the 6006, so I can't help you there. Good luck, I know it is a pain in the butt to have to basically start all over with your wax. Amy
  20. Hey silver, I know how you feel. People can be really harsh on this board. You might do a search and find some other boards out there that won't bash you for asking questions. I lurke a lot on this board, and have learned a ton from reading all the posts, but I don't ask very many questions because I don't want to get land blasted by people who don't think I have done enough research. After all, I thought this it what these boards were for was to help each other out. Good Luck. Amy
  21. I would just put a warning label on the bottom with your info on it. All my warning labels have my company name phone # and email addy on them and I have got lots of new customers from this. HTH
  22. ok, I am weird, but I make mine a light purple, but add more blue to give it a greyish tint. Don't know why, but I did the deep purple and this color and set them out together at a craft show and the lighter one sold tons more. Pretty weird.:undecided
  23. forums-read, read, read. I have learned so much from all you guys it has helped me so much.
  24. I love them!! The colors are so bright and awesome. Love them love them love them!!
