  1. My husband just had his gall bladder removed and it didn't help his issues. He has had a rough year with gastrointestinal problems and they are still running tests. Now we are thinking diverticulitus. Best of luck to you in figuring everything out and getting well. In that first pic, what kind of cord are you using for that bow? Do you just tie it or do you have to glue it to keep it in place?
  2. I haven't used portion cups so I'm not sure about that. But, I do pour feather palm into clamshells with success. I cover with baking pans to slow the cooling process. They still feather beautifully. I am trying to remember what temp I poured....it has been 2 months since I tested it and I am not near my notes. It was either 180ish or 170ish!
  3. My husband added a spigot to our presto at Christmas and we filled it with water to test for leaks...good to go! So, last night I used it for the first time. Put in 2 pounds of wax and within a minute wax was pouring onto the floor! I looked to make sure the valve was closed. Yep. Couldn't move it any more. So I put a pot under it and turned it off, cleaned up the mess and messaged him at work to let him know we would have to look at it again. Went back an hour later to see if I could figure it out. Ohhhhhh, yeah, I had the knob in the on position. Why did I have to text my husband so quickly?!
  4. I know with candles that saying can be true with fragrance oil. Sometimes less is more. Does that saying apply to wax melts? I have come across 2 oils that smelled and performed better by reducing the percentage of fo. So I know it can be the case sometimes But, generally speaking, wouldn't more be more in a wax melt?
  5. It works extremely well! I have been using feather palm for about a year. I did the brittle at first but changed to shapes. I love how palm pops right out of any shape melter.
  6. Wow, how embarrassing to have your booth torn down if front of everyone! Ouch!
  7. Yes, I think it goes hand in hand with people making false claims about their product and mislabeling. Using copyright images will draw people in and away from other vendors. Saying their cotton candy wax melts are made with 100% therapeutic grade essential oils can draw people to their product. Labeling a candle by the size of the jar instead of by the amount of wax will lead people to believe that product is a better deal. As far as using Disney and other copyright material, as well as trademark candle names, will eventually catch up with them when they get a c&d letter. Then they will have to rebrand overnight. What I always wonder is...do they know what they are doing is illegal? Even the other examples....do they know the difference between essential and fragrance oils....do they know you are supposed to label the candle with the ounces of product? Which is scarier....they don't know or don't care?
  8. Thanks. That makes sense about easier cleanup. Do you just pour into your pour pot and weigh it or do you have your pour pot marked?
  9. I have been using the double boiler on the stove, but my husband just added a spigot on a presto pot, yeah! Double boiler for testing and singLe batches and presto pot for larger. Can not wait for the day a presto pot is for small batches! Is there anything wrong with mixing fragrance oil in the presto pot? I have read here that most of you mix your oils separately in the pouring pots.
  10. They have removed the listing for the combo pack of clear, black, and teal. They still have the black and teal to purchase. Here is the link so you can see it. http://www.candlesandsupplies.net/12-oz.-Teal-Elegant-Embossed-Jar-w-Silver-Lid-per-20?sc=7&category=1828 They do not have a listing for the clear. So I wonder if they are just selling what they have and not restocking like Trappeur said above.
  11. Haha! My coworker bought some and thought the same thing. She now says "I need more Crack Bellatrix" Good luck Sarah! They look great!
  12. Yeah, after quality i was concerned about them not being permanent. A lot of consideration because shipping to Texas is expensive.
  13. Found these jars tonight and I am in love! I would love to know if anyone knows if they look as good as in the picture. http://www.candlesandsupplies.net/12-oz.-Assorted-Elegant-Embossed-Jar-per-6?sc=7&category=1828
  14. Another vote for middle one and straight line.
  15. LS has creme brulee, which smells more of coffee. But it does have a sweet, creamy aspect to it. Not sure why they added coffee to creme brulee? It had a medium throw in palm. I was going to name it something like latte or cappuccino brulee.
  16. I have only ordered wax and fragrances from LS, NG, and CS. Once I found out CS did not offer discounts on buying multiple bottles I steered clear because the fragrances I liked were $20+ per pound. But, I've been working on Reed diffusers and their base is so much better than LS. I also like that they tell you which fragrances work with the base instead of having to waste money experimenting. I just ordered a bunch of new oils to test and every one has worked beautifully in their base. That is the only reason I order from them.
  17. They are launching new calypso candle containers in black and white, but they have a matte finish instead of glossy. These are the Reed diffuser bottles I was looking at. I hate that I would have to order a case to check them out. I am sure they use the same painting technique on all their containers. https://www.glassnow.com/8-5oz-roma-glass-bottle
  18. I see now that the candle containers in black and white are a matte finish. I did not notice that before. The Reed diffuser bottles have a glossy finish and I thought the candle containers were the same.
  19. I was just looking at Glass now and they have some new containers that will be available next month. How are they terrible? Have you seen their Reed diffuser bottles...are they the same?
  20. Oh, I got you, I misunderstood what you were saying! I have not seen them anywhere other than Nashville Wraps. If I stumble across some I will post it here.
  21. If you have enough in your batch, test your melts at different intervals to see what your cure time is. Like 3 days, 5 days, 1 week and 2 weeks and see if there's a difference. I am also experimenting with parasoy. It throws much better in the beginning, but from my limited testing so far, doesn't seem to last as long as the palm. I'm torn. I may carry both!
  22. I have been making melts from Palm wax for almost a year. Mine need a minimum of 1 week cure and quite a few fragrances need 2 weeks.
  23. Nashville Wraps carries biodegradable cello bags in various sizes and styles.
  24. I am curious about this. I thought the reformulation was due to the ban on trans fats and not being able to get the hydrogenated oils. They pretty much close up shop for a year to reformulate and then, poof, now they can make the same wax again this soon?
