  1. that should make a decent lotion bar, for what you have on hand, the only thing I wouldn't use is 2 tsp of EO...
  2. I have a sample of TCS liquid crystal I am gonna play with today..
  3. I havent tried pko, I do use stearic in mine though...
  4. Did you leave/keep it in the shower? I find they last longer if you remove it from the shower after use. The moisture in there keeps it soft and you go to use it and half the bar will melt away as soon as water hits it. Mine usually would last about one week, with sometimes as many as 4 users on the same bar..so at least 4 showers/baths a day. I have found the "cold process" MP base last a bit longer though.
  5. come on..I know someone has do do body wash?
  6. You said it. Its for self promotion. I think a quality product can and does sell itself. You can capitialize on what makes your product unique or special. I make all my B&B homemade, no bases. I do not bash people who use bases.. I do let people know it is not from a base.. but I do not go to the extent of bad mouthing. I myself, see no point or profit in that.
  7. I have not, up until this point, used a base of any kind. Nothing against those who do, I just like doing it all myself, thats part of the fun for me. I do however, accept my limitations. I need to start carrying bath/shower gel. I would say 1/2 of my cutomers would prefer it to bar soap. My question about bases is, are they "tinkerable"? Does anyone add anything besides fragrance to their bases? If no, what bases have you found to be the best quality...there are soooo many out there.
  8. I love fruit scents in these. oh gosh what I don't like....rice flower and shea.. in salt bars it smells like a tub of play doh!
  9. personal preference really... I used to love B&B works salt scrub. It was oily and not emulisified. I knew I would have to dig down in and get a glop and have oil dripping from my finers, but I liked it!! Since I started doing them myself, I do prefer an emulsified one.
  10. I am a Chef by trade, I enjoy the baking and cake decorating side of the profession a lot. I love anything formulary, thats what drove me to candles and bath and body stuff. I also love other handicrafts dabble in some mosaic and jewelry making. Some floral arrangement. I am an avid gardener, both veggie and floral. I also enjoy writing, I do a bit of poetry, short story, I am in the process of doing my own cookbook and I do a weekly instructional (cooking) article for a professional chef newsletter and community.
  11. I don't know exactly what you are aiming for, but have you thought of the water soluble paper?
  12. this supplier is on this forum, sells bulk potpouri and she has a Lot of really cool shapes and themes to the blends? anyone know who I am talking about?
  13. I have tried several, and I too "add cocoa" I think that add to the authentic chocolate smell. I use hershey "type", milk chocolate pabana, MMS chocolate mousse and Peaks hot cocoa

  16. glass perfume bottles, they are spray bottle, the top screws on instead of being crimped. silicone loaf pans
  17. unless I am melting a small amount, I melt mine in a pourpot/double boiler. I feel like I have more control over the temp that way.
  18. could you keep adding more starch and maybe citric to maybe and get a usuable bubble bar or bomb? I don't know what the cyclo will do to the recipe. I have made this recipe many times and never had a problem with it being too dry, I just kept kneading the glycerin in really well a bit at a time.
  19. sigh.. there will always be a soap or mold or scent you think rocks that wont sell...I myself, don't like novelty soaps, as in soaps more for looks or decoration. Some people just arent into them. It looks plastic to me.. have you tried all clear colored MP? maybe a deep ruby or cobalt blue so it looks like an antique or something?
  20. All of our products are worthy in the eye of the beholder.. I imigine they are selling at that price because they can.. I would like to have the profits on it! Its not knox gelatin... its more like was mentioned above a type of silica or somethng similar like hydra soil or water crystals like we use for smelly jelly...
  21. most glitter is synthetic, most are made from Polyethylene Terephthalate. My best friend lives next to a HUGE mica processing place.. its way cool. The area is mica rich.. the ground everywhere just sparkles all the time.
