  1. I had something like you have pictured for about two years but for christmas this year I bought a programmable one from Menards for $35. The way that I get the wax out is with a old coffee mug that holds exactly 8 oz. That way I can count how many of those mugs and get a close measurement of how much wax I have in the pouring pitcher. The problem with the turkey roaster is that it takes a couple of hours to melt down the full roaster which is about 20 pounds or so. The good thing is that you can make candles for a long time after the wax is melted.
  2. For drakkar I call it old men in church.
  3. I had a similar incident happen. I went to a festival one year and this one lady just loved my dreamsicle candle. The next year I had a booth at the same spot. When she saw me there she came running over and started telling all of the people around that area that I have the best smelling candles ever. And thanks to her I probably sold about 75 dollars in candles within 10 minutes. I wish there were more people like these to help all of us out, with free advertising.
  4. I found the best way to make lots of votives at once. You take the little plastic dixie cups and pour your wax in to those. Then wick them when the wax is starting to cool. When the candle is totally hardened you can put them in the freezer for about 20 minutes or so. Then take them out and pop the candle out from the bottom. The only bad thing is that the dixie cup can not be reused, but you can get like 80 of them for about a dollar. I did this to get ready for one of the festivals I went to last year. In about 3 weeks I made a little over a thousand votives.
  5. IF I turn it on to about 250 degrees, it usually takes about 2 to 2.5 hours. If I know that I am going to make candles that day I turn it on during my luch hour and when I get home about 3 hours later it is all liquid. I will then turn it down to about 175 when I am making the candles.
  6. I use an 18 quart turkey roaster for melting wax. It has a temperature dial on it so you can keep the wax at a steady temperature. It holds about 20 to 25 pounds of wax at once. When it is all liquid I have a seperate coffee mug thing that I use to dip the wax out with. I have found that this is the best way to make lots of candles fast. It is a lot faster than the traditional double boiler system.
  7. I have about twenty scents. I got a box from the UPS store and my sample candles are the size of about baby food jars but they are in the shape of hex jar but have more sides. I got them from a place called Flower Factory. It is a store in the Midwest that it like a huge hobby lobby. Each jar holds about an ounce of wax.
  8. I recently bought from CSC because they were having a big sale, so I thought that I would pick up a couple more scents to sell as candles. I got them and made them but all three scents were not very strong at all. I even used two oz. of scent per pound and could barely smell anything except for plain wax. Although I do pay wax from them because they have good wax at cheap prices.
