  1. Not sure if I'm allowed to post this, but do make sure and post these results on the Scent Review board also...it's the first place I look when trying out a new scent.
  2. For sure you all are not helping!! I too absolutely love Greenleaf 70/30. That stuff is the bomb! I am still testing, but between soaping and candle making, I am slow. Let me tell you this though...a couple of nights ago I was testing Maduro in the 70/30...my gawd!! that scent made it throughout the whole house, it was unbelievable! Then yesterday, we went to an outlet mall. They had a bath and body works there, so I bought a Henri Bendel candle...the cold throw was amazing. It was scented amber & myrrh. That was a to die for scent, so of course I bought it. I had that candle lit for at least 4 hours and neither of us could smell it unless you were right on top of it. On the one hand I was really disappointed with it, on the other I was sorta smug in knowing my own fledgling candles have way better hot throw!
  3. I did the Brown Sugar & Fig from Carolina Candle Supply and it was a dream to work with. I even added TD thinking it would discolor to brown, but it's staying white...well, ok, a tad tannish. Little tid bits of peru balsam scattered throughout...was working {attempting} with peru balsam earlier and couldn't get it off the spoon. Anyway, I digress-no A or D.
  4. I think it would depend upon how much more narrow it gets. If it's not too, too narrow, perhaps wick somewhere in between the two diameters.
  5. Not sure if this is what you are looking for: http://spiritcrafts.stores.yahoo.net/earonpedmol.html
  6. Just tried HP a few days ago, and it didn't turn out pretty for me. Despite banging my molds repeatedly on the floor, they still ended up having numerous air holes. Plus, the undersides of the individual molds is UGLY! I do have to hand it to the HP'ers that do a wonderful job.
  7. Don't have a 4 day weekend, but do have 3 days off! I'm currently on my soaping kick, so will do some experimenting with black currant oil, and some scents from SW- gonna do Stella, Oh de London, Bamboo Ji, and Andalusian Olive blossom. Then want to pour up some container candles...can never have too many of those during hurricane season {yes, I'm a tad paranoid}. Lucky for me, I was able to get several cases of wax without shipping! Want to try out some of my new containers. I'm still playing a lot with wax, I can't seem to stop at just one type, gonna try them all. I'm like a kid in a candy store. Once I calm down with that, then maybe I'll go ahead and get more serious with it. Some folks are asking for candles, but I have not tested as I should have yet. Oh, want to try some whipped shea and FBB too!
  8. Just wanted to say thanks so much for this recipe. I'm a lip balm addict! I added 4 oz. of jojoba oil to this and it is perfect for me. Never have tried BCN's lip balm base, but have tried MMS, Camden-Grey, and a couple others. It is a bit soft compared to the stuff I used to buy at Walmart {Blistex} but that's how I like it! I think this stuff is the bomb!! Thank you, thank you!!
  9. I agree, a great program and now I don't even attemp a recipe without it. I just love it!
  10. I've heard that lavender eo helps with bubbles, also noticed that my clay soaps have more bubbles. I use the coconut milk in just about all my batches and I think it helps too, although that's not the main reason I add it. One thing for sure...a loooooooooooong drying time!
  11. It's good to hear that others have been having a time of it getting approved. I've applied twice also...didn't want to be pesty, but never got a yes or no either. I absolutely love forums, I've learned much from them. Hey, I know, maybe we can form a soaping prayer circle, lol! {please, no disrespect intended}
  12. Brambleberry carries those dissolvable sheets too.
  13. Oh gosh, there certainly is...I'm desperately trying to remeber who it was...I know I've got it somewhere! Anyway, they do have a minimum of like 25 pounds once they dupe your scent. I will find the name of the company and get back to you.
  14. I've ordered a lot from them...they're only one state away! I do prefer SFIC, but thought I'd try the Stephenson M&P that they carry. I liked all the bases I tried except for the shea base...it just smelled oily to me that not even the addition of one oz of FO could hide. Yes, I too noticed that the bases have a higher melt point, and so if you are not used to that, well it just takes a bit of getting used to! I think what you have to keep in mind is that the higher the melt point, the harder the base, the longer it should last... at least to my way of thinking. Several years ago I was getting my M&P from an online store based in MN. Tried out some of their newest {at that time} M&P which came from Africa. At that time, I was unhappy with this African M&P...it would start setting up while it was still very hot! As time went by and I became more adept at using M&P, I started using the African stuff. Decided it was the bomb...lasts forever in the shower! Absolutely nothing made this stuff sweat...think SFIC low sweat x 10! I still have a bit left and am hording it, as they don't sell it anymore!
  15. Uhm, I have the same scent but it's from Carolina Candle Supplies....listed as body safe. I'm going to CP it this afternoon,but I'm with you, I'll bet it will turn brown. Hey, have you checked the Scent Review Board? I always go there first just to see if I can get any info on the scent I'm going to be trying. Always nice to have a heads up if it's going to discolor, but more importantly if it's going to accelerate!
  16. I think paying for your tutorials is a heck of a bargain!
  17. I wonder if that's anything like mango mandarin? I actually got a bottle from Carolina Candle Supplies...body safe too. I used it in CP, and holding up surprisingly well so far! {knock on wood!!}
  18. Chauna this sounded interesting but I can't say I know what it is. I googled it and got Camden-Grey website. Don't know if this helps or not: http://www.bestdeal.org/essential-camden/van-1_4.html
  19. Has anybody bought any fo's from here? Their web site states that their uncut oils are safe for bath and body stuff. They have a really nice selection, but never having ordered from them...well, just thought I'd check with you all first? TIA
  20. Ugh! I just tried rebatching for the first time...did it with approx. 1 pound of soap. The soap was so fresh {2 days old} I didn't think I'd have to add any liquid at all...just melted in microwave for about a minute, really had no idea what I was doing. Couldn't really stir it, so I added one ounce of fo and mashed it together with my hands...it looks like doggy doo. Now I can see why rebatching is avoided!
  21. There are some suppliers whose FO I won't even try. I do think a lot of it depends on the quality of the FO. Even suppliers who do have quality FO's I still check their web pages to see what they say about that particular FO and how it behaves in CP. The only FO that I've tried that went south on me was grapefruit, but that was a long time ago, before I knew any better. Now I can get it to stick anchoring it with patch. The good thing about the FOs that won't stick in candles or CP...use it up with M&P! That's what I love about all this candle/soap making stuff...there's always a way to use up your stuff!
  22. How do the Select Shades compare with Lab Colors? I still have the Lab Colors and while I do like them, it seems like you have to use an awful lot for CP. For M&P they are tremendous.
  23. I've found over time that the color of your soap depends greatly on the oils you are using. Coconut, babbasu {sp?}, tallow, lard, and PKO give nice white soaps. Extra virgin olive oil will of course turn your soap green. The FOs or EOs also play a large role. You can do it, just experiment! Oh and just one more thing, just because an FO is clear, it will still yellow your soap sometimes. Just depends!
