  1. thanks for the answer! I have only made one palm container candle and the scent throw was the best I ever got from any candle I made, but I think it may have been that the FO was so strong itself. That is so good to know...especially about the vybar! Thank you!!
  2. Good morning everybody! Ok, my question for now is this: we all know how not all fragrances do well in soy wax. Well, since palm is a natural type wax too, I was just wondering if palm is also finnicky that way? I was hoping to possibly get some input from the pros. Do you have to worry about what fragrances throw well in palm, or is palm more akin to paraffin in fragrancing? I hope this makes sense! TIA
  3. Thanks for the replies! So if I added a bit of vanilla to my grapefruit FO then that should help, right? That's my next favorite scent!!
  4. Ok, so I've read in the past where you really shouldn't use these in candles because they give off a fuel smell when burning. However, lately I've seen where FO's like grapefruit are being offerred under candle scents. It's been more than one website also! So, have the formulations of this type of scent changed to where they now can be used in candles without that fuel scent? I have, some time ago used the grapefruit FO and found it did smell like fuel when burning. Curious, because I love grapefruit FO! It's my favorite scent in B&B products.
  5. Oh, and just one more...always double check your FO bottle to be sure it really is FO and not liquid dye! Not that I've done that of course...
  6. But if you have wicked your candle mold already, how can the top be the bottom? Or do you not put a sustainer base on it and just glue the wick to the bottom of the mold??
  7. Ok, I know to poke relief holes in pillars, but I thought that wasn't?? necessary in container candles? The reason I'm asking is because I've just lit a 100% palm wax container candle and it was as though there was a cavern under the surface! This is my first experience with palm...just love the way it looks! TIA
  8. First of all I just found a wax supplier within driving distance!! They have the above mentioned wax and I've been really wanting to try it out...holds 2 oz FO per pound! Anyone have any experience with it? Any info much appreciated!
  9. I made some soy pillars last night using KY-143. Oh my gosh! The sink holes are like the Grand Canyon! They go at least half way down each pillar. Now this is a blend so I'm wondering if I could add more paraffin to it and maybe at least lessen these sink holes?? Anybody else ever worked with this wax? TIA
  10. thanks for the replies, I am seriously math challenged!
  11. Hi, although this is my first post in the "new" forum, I used to be in the old one some time ago! I quit candles for a couple of years, but am now getting back in. Seems I remember that each pound of wax comes out to 20 oz when melted? Does this influence the amount of liquid wax that I actually measure on my scale? I know that sounds kind of nutty! I guess what I'm asking is this: if I weigh out 4 pounds of liquid wax, then that's what I've got to go by as far as adding my fo, right? Gosh, I'm confused!! :undecided
