I wipe noses almost all day...is that a hobby? Lol..Im a kindergarten teacher so I have a HUGE avenue to release my inner "creative" side. My kids and I started making food soap and are now looking into taking it into a business. I like to scrapbook...but like everyone else have little time and by the time I get all of my supplies out Im tired! Yall are all so creative!!

I have to ask lots of questions before I completely understand the whole process of starting my own business. I really need some advice to walk me through the process. Okay step one is down...I have my products, have tested them and other people love them. Now I want to sell. What do I do first? I have checked into insurance...so that is covered when Im ready. But do I need a tax id number (I think thats what I have seen yall say)? Where do I get one? Is that all I have to have before I can sell my products? I need to know everything I will need to sell. Second..or third..lol...I am not computer savey at all. I want to hire someone to build a website for me. Any suggestions? I really need someone, or a company that can walk me through this process. Its all new to me...and I feel stupid for asking all of this...but I have read yalls posts for a year now and I just need specific instructions. I like in Oklahoma if that matters any. I really..really...REALLy appreciate any help that you can give me. I really want to give this "business" a try.

stupid question, are the coffee grounds used or unused?

Tired of my questions yet? lol...Where do you all that have your own businesses get your insurance? I have called a few agencies and they dont write for soap or candles. I am interested in what type, what coverage and what price some of you have. If you dont mind sharing. Oh and where I can get a fair policy.

Does anyone have any idea where I can find a clear plastic cookie jar? I have made some cookie soaps that I would like to package in a cookie jar...preferably plastic. I have seen one site online that sells soaps that has this product, but I cant find it anywhere. I would greatly appreciate the help. Yall have all been so wonderful helping me. I do this as a hobby and really want to find the jar so I can give them out as gifts at my friends wedding shower. Thanks again!

I have heard of the crayon melting to color soap...but have read on here several times not to do it...I have also been told that maybe I could use cocoa powder to get a deep chocolate coloring. I guess its back to the testing table for me! lol

No I sure didnt. Would that help? I had made some chocolate soaps and had them on a plate. I gave some to a friend to try. She said that they were sweating and that the red coloring sort of crystalized on the outside. Im new to all of this..and just make them for fun. But Im having a hard time finding answers to my questions. thank you so much for responding...I would love to hear what anyone has to say about all of this! lol

Thanks for your help. Im really hoping that someone on here makes the melt and pour chocolate soap and can point me in the right direction...anyone? Just another newbie that needs guidance..lol

I have made some melt and pour shea butter base soaps. I used brown oxide powder to color it a chocolate color. THe problem that I am having is that the soaps are sweating and a crystalizing red coloring is showing on the outside. Can someone please tell me, or lead me to some information on what coloring I can use in a melt and pour soap base? I know that some of you have made wonderful looking mp soaps and I would greatly appreciate any help.
