What is your favorite MP base? I am on the lookout for the best base possible and thought that this was the perfect place to ask! So, those of you that have played with MP...please pipe up and tell me what one you liked best...

I went to wholesalesupplies and found the most adorable military rubber duckies...but no Air force one...then I found someone on ebay that is selling the 4 branches..the same one I saw online but WITH the air force...does anyone have any idea where I can get the Air force rubber duckie? Thanks!!

Ive noticed on mine that when I use FO in a light batch...days later it is darker...But thats the only change I have noticed. That and the weeping it does sometimes...whoever said MP was EASY hasnt been to my house! lol

Thanks Sharon! I havent tried a;nything else yet because i was really hoping to FIX this problem. I want to stay clear of CP as long as I can...get this perfected first. I really appreciate all the help and when i do finally try cp you will be the first one to see the pics!

Oh you are more help than you know! I was using a goats milk mp base...small amount of FO and for coloring was using mica powder. Well, I did have to use quite a bit of mica to get a good chocolate coloring. thats the only thing I can think is causing this because my other soaps that only need a small amount of coloring do NOT have the same problem. So, you said that CP could give me a good chocolate color? Does anyone mind sharing a recipe with me...keep in mind i have never ventured to make CP before...but Im desperate now! LOL..

Well, i dont think they are sweating...the crystals wipe right off..so I should not leave them laying out...I should wrap them right away? how would you suggest wrapping them?

I know I have posted about this problem before..I made a chocolate MP soap and after a few days tiny crystals formed on the outside. I was told that maybe I was getting the soap too hot...so I made sure this time that I melted it slow and on low temps...well, it crystalized again. I just cant figure this one out. Does anyone have any idea at all what can be causing this?? Just to be sure...how much coloring can you add to MP? Maybe that is it. How do these other soap makers get a great looking chocolate coloring??

Thats why I love this group...as a newbie, its hard to find answers. You depend on others "helping" you and not harming you. I make mp soap...its what I love. But it always seems that people pipe in adn say that its easy. Well, its not to me...You have to find suppliers...try different versions..get the coloring and FO just right...packaging...and now I am hopelessly trying to start an on line business! My point...sorry, I trailed off...is that you must have SUPPORT and not people that want to put you down at every step. If I saw someone that had a product similar to mine...I would ask questions...not put it down because competion. I look at it this way...there are more customers than there are makers...there is plenty to go around. My focus is on perfecting my craft...not tearing down someone elses. Sorry, this isnt much advise...just a venting...lol

Thanks Candy! I have just started messing around with MP soap and I was using the microwave. Think Im going to switch to the double boiler method..I was thinking that it had something to do with the coloring...to get a good chocolate color with the goats milk MP Im having to add more micas...So glad to know it was the heat. Ill make another batch and see how that does! Yall are awesome!!

Ya know, that makes sense to me. I did get the soap very hot...I think Ill try melting it slower and with less heat and see how that works. Thanks for suggestions!

I just cant for the life of me figure this one out. What is causing those crystals to form on the outside of the chocolate soap? Hmmmmm? It is just stumping me! haha

Does MP have to cure at all? I ask because I made a batch of Chocolate colored soap. I poured a few candies and make a cake and used the Chocolate as the frosting. Well, I left the cake piece out on the counter for a week and put the candy pieces in a baggie. Now the candy pieces have crystalized, have sugar like appearance on the outside, and the cake is just fine. They were from the same batch...just wondering what is causing this crystalization on the soap? Thanks!
