  2. Fabulous! I cannot believe that is your first attempt!!! You did good! Kimberly
  3. As always, very elegant Donita! Did I read in one of your posts here that you also make soap? Kimberly
  4. :yay:YaY!!:yay: It looks terrific and I bet it smells divine! Kimberly
  5. Very nice!! I wish I could smell it!
  6. Hey Chris, are you wicking pariffin and/or soy votives? Kimberly
  7. Just to offer a different point of view...it has been my experience that wicking soy votives is a lot different from wicking paraffin votives. I make four different sizes of votives in both paraffin and soy. The paraffin votives were rather easy to determine correct wick type and size. The soy, however, is a totally different animal requiring a much hotter burning wick. Also, to get the various sizes of soy votives to burn correctly I have to use a different size wick for each. Kimberly
  8. Oh, I guess I didn't understand that it was going to work that way. In that case, add me to the list! Kimberly
  9. We are currently holding an extended meeting at my house. #%$%*@!! blasted soy votives in four assorted sizes for your wicking pleasure. :undecided:angry2:
  10. Your boxes are awesome...very professional looking! Kimberly
  11. mountainmadness, your soap is so perfect! The ribbons and the tags really tie it all together. Kimberly
  12. Two pound recipes scare me! When you are dealing with such small amounts, your accuracy must be dead-on or you will quite likely end up with lye-heavy soap or a big glob of mush. Do you have a good scale? Which lye calculator are you using? According to the Kelsie site, their 9 bar mold holds 2 1/2 pounds of soap. Kimberly:)
  13. I agree with AngieM. How about a New Years swap in January when things have settled down a bit for everyone? Kimberly
  14. I apologize for the hijack, but what is this Frostop you speak of? lol I need some of that! Back on topic, I have tons of Strahl & Pitch palm wax in both the container (SP 487P) and pillar/votive (SP 486P) that I would be willing to share at my cost. If anyone wants to try it out just send me a PM. Kimberly
  15. Casey, if you do ask Dr. Al, could you post back here with his answer. I'm curious as well. Thanks! Kimberly
  16. As I moved my candle line over to veggie waxes, I must have tested over a billion wicks (seemed like it anyway ). The mushrooming was driving me crazy! I finally found a wick type (ECO) that works great for me in soy with no/minimal mushrooming. I use ECO's in containers and votives of various sizes. That square votive was a bugger to get wicked just right. Kimberly
  17. Oh wow, I didn't know that! Thanks so much Trish! Kimberly
  18. I'll try to help! What oils do you have on hand? What are you going to use for your mold (size, etc.)? Kimberly
  19. I measure out my honey into a small container then add a small amount of the water that would have gone into my lye solution. I then place this mix into a water bath to gently melt the honey. After the lye/water solution has cooled down, I add the warmed honey water and mix really well. Kimberly
