  1. I did a red palm oil soap once. Never again! lol Velveeta soap anyone?
  2. I haven't tried them but have heard from others that they are well made. I have my eye on a couple of them myself.
  3. That's great! I am going to have to get one now.
  4. Oh wow, I can't believe I missed that earlier thread. Tons of good info. Thanks a bunch! valleygrls98, will you be sure to post us when you are ready to sell? That kit at TKB looks good but shiny doesn't sound so good.
  5. Oh man, just what I need...another project. lol It's very tempting and the price really isn't bad when you compare to big name company products. Have you ever tried making mineral makeup? I wonder how difficult it is.
  6. Did you have any trouble getting the soap out of the mold? Isn't the Kelsie one that some people have trouble dislodging the dividers? I could be totally wrong/misremembering.
  7. Thanks for the heads up! I'll keep an eye on her site. Anyone else? I've got $$ burning a hole in my pocket.
  8. Does anyone here make/sell mineral makeup? I'm looking to purchase for personal use. Anyone? Buehler?
  9. Those are really pretty Landa! How do you like your new mold? I've been thinking about getting one.
  10. This has not been a very satisfying transaction for me...to say the least. I finally received my dyes today. I sent three (very nicely worded) emails over the course of three weeks and never heard one word back. In the package I received there is no invoice or packing slip...nothing but dyes and an unlabeled bag of something that looks like wax crumbles. *shaking head* Anyone want any dyes? I'd be happy to toss in the bag of mystery crumbles as a bonus. lol I cannot fathom incorporating a product/vendor into my line after such a negative experience. I'm easy to please, understand that people/companies have problems. Just don't take my money and ignore me. That's all I ask. First one that PM's me....they're yours for the cost of shipping. EDITED TO ADD: The dyes are spoken for. Thanks!
  11. Nothing more frustrating than misinformation from a supplier. Sorry for your troubles. The graining is puzzling to me. I'll think on it and see what I can come up with. My first thought is some sort of additive in the wax that is fractionating in the cool-down process. Soy pillar wax will pull away from the sides of your mold. Soy container wax will adhere to the side of your mold as it should when poured into a container.
  12. I would bet that you have container wax there...not pillar wax.
  13. You're welcome! Here's a few more that I found to really help me get my mind around the formulation process: Emulsions and the HLB System What is HLB? Usage Guide to Cosmetic Preservatives & Anti-oxidants Choosing Emulsifiers Resources
  14. I use a combination of heat, bleach and alcohol. The CTFA Cleaning & Sanitization Guidlines (Note: The link is to a .PDF file) details the pros and cons of various sanitization methods.
  15. Hey there! I didn't sub anything except I did use the E Wax NF from Brambleberry that I had on hand. It worked out just fine. Good stuff!
  16. I made Jen's (of Lotioncrafter) new Silken Therapy Lotion for Hand and Body. You can find it on her formulary page. It's the second recipe on the page. It is so silky dry feeling...just lovely. I've also made a few other things from her formulary with great success. The massage oil is really nice as is the lotion bar.
  17. I've been sitting here feeling really bad...thinking I should delete my posts above. I don't like the thought that there is a possibility I might have hurt someone's feelings. :embarasse
  18. The recipe version that I read stated as follows: "Melt cocoa butter. When it's melted, add baking soda, cornstarch, and if a dark chocolate melt is wanted, add cocoa powder. If not, leave as is. After everthing is completely mixed and molds are ready, cool until pot is just warm to the touch, but still liquid." Someone must have added the cocoa powder idea. Please don't take offense Bunny as none was intended.
