  1. We label sides (or at least decorate) and top label for biz info and scent and a warning on the bottom, but then we only sell them seasonaly with a Christmas, fall, spring and summer line. Four frags and designs per package. Here is a pic of our Christmas selection.
  2. Doesnt bother me one bit actually, it is called having confidence in your products and yourself to make the best product you can using the information out there. So have a great day. Wendy
  3. I am not self righteous, I do have common sense and am not a scaremonger. I stated very clearly in my post this was our method and material use of making this particular product, I did not state yours was wrong, in fact said it was a personal choice of the candlemaker to choose what they felt comfortable with. I was under the impression this board was for everyones opinions and experience and I offered mine. If it is not inline with yours fine, so be it. We accept your opinion just as being different than ours, it is unfortunate you cannot do the same. Wendy
  4. Was the tealight in an enclosed space within the tart warmer? As well as it sounds over wicked and acrylic tealight holders can vary, some are not the greatest quality. We purchased a huge amount some three yrs. ago thinking what a great deal, had nothing but issues with them using our normal wax and wicking formulas. The company did take them back and we returned to paying slightly more for ones we had used in the past that met our needs and safety considerations. Wendy
  5. No problem with disagreeing however there is always room for more opinions and as there is no industry standards where these products are concerned product producers must follow what they feel is correct and safe. We have been "burning" our pies, been in business since 1999 making them so have test burned many over the years and using non polar fragrancing for any aspect where gel is concerned is something we decided very early on. Not willing to take the chance when it is simple to create something that in our opinion is a safer product. Everyone must make their own decision as to what they feel comfortable with. Wendy
  6. We use a different approach to this and only use non polar fragrance for all of our wax products that will contain gel of any proportion in the finished product. (Whether the gel is scented or not). When burning, all components combine in the melt pool and there could be a safety concern in my opinion. Wendy
  7. Hi Bethany, I am not sure what the trick is, our formula is pretty straight forward and we whip with a kitchen aid, warming the shea slightly before starting to whip. We do not use an ice bath or cool, just straight whipping. Perhaps it is the shea itself. Not too much help sorry. Wendy
  8. Ours stays whipped and fluffly unless exposed to extreme heat where melting and resolidifying occurs. Wendy
  9. Just wondering it isn't the colourant is it? We had issues a few yrs. ago with Cinnamon Stik, blamed the fragrance but in the end it was the deep colour of brown that we trying to achieve using both liquids and chips that were causing the bad burn. Now that we use powders we have eliminated the problem. We were colouring them a very deep dark gingerbread colour. Just a thought. Wendy
  10. Thanks Blazerina, I found a link which contained much of the info you provided as well as the weight method so this will help alot. Much appreciated. Wendy
  11. Thanks for the replies, yes your right stainless and aluminum do not look very similar although brushed stainless is quite similar. Thanks anyway. Wendy
  12. Hi all, I was given a variety of large stock type pots, various sizes, and cannot tell if they are stainless or some other type of metal. Any way of telling that you may know of?? Thanks Wendy
  13. Thanks everyone, yes the Glacier is made with our embed formula wax. A glass tealight cup is inserted and we sell the original filled with gel however a acrylic tealight can fit inside the glass holder as well. Wendy
  14. Yes I can see where people would like shapes as more of a gift item. Yours are wonderful, very fallish, thanks again. Wendy
  15. Thank you everyone, the glacier is my favourite too! They look better in person, the wax is layered with a bluer bottom fading to white at the top. One account we have for these likes very fine halo glitter on them too, this one doesn't. Thanks again Wendy
  16. Those look great Vicky, love the colour variation in them! Do you find that shaped melts, seasonal etc. do well for you. Our customers just didn't seem to get it, , they wanted the shape retained throughout the burn, They don't seem to expect as much out of the clams. Thanks for sharing. Wendy
  17. Your location will also cause some variance, the Imperial Gallon is larger than the U.S. gallon. Wendy
  18. Gel candles are as safe to burn as any other type of candle as long as the products used to make the candle and the design created are suitable for gel candle applications. For example, non polar fragrancing not exceeding the recomended amounts, suitable glassware, non flamable embeds, proper wicking and tabbing, including as Luci said sand etc. As with any candle precautions should be taken while burning and these recomendations should be applied to the candle and followed, keep out of drafts, never attempt to move a candle when hot, never leave a burning candle unnattended, etc. We do many gels, most are a combination of gel and other mediums but we still do gel scenes upon order. Most of these are double glassed, not necessarily for a safety factor but to retain the look of the candle upon burning. The ones that are not double glassed contain no flammable items, are designed in suitable glassware and if shells or sand are involved the wicking does able to contact these items in any way. (We do this thru the use of a glass blank no longer offering any crimped wick candles). Gel is a great product to work with if care and attention to the recomendations and common sense as Luci suggested are applied. HTH Wendy
  19. Love it! Great job on both the candle and the decorating, it is sure to be appreciated by them! Would love to try palm someday but not another wax, not another wax, not another wax, lol. Thanks for sharing. Wendy
  20. with CT down, lol. Here is a couple of items we worked on to complete an order for one of our accounts. The first is our glacier, 96 of these for a hotel. and the second is one we call Vancouver Island Serenity for a gift store located in Tofino, a community well know for it's beauty on the ocean here on the island, 24 of these. Hope you like Wendy
  21. Mirrror tiles look really nice as well as the plates. They reflect the light. Walmart etc. should carry them. The 12x12 size is pretty. Wendy
  22. Very nice! We have been painting up a fair amount of glassware lately and your right, another addiction! Thanks for sharing. Wendy
  23. Thanks everyone for your comments, much appreciated! All of our 5" pies are triple wicked. We use LX wicking and sizing depends upon the type of pie, anywhere from three 10's to three 14's. Our goal is a complete burn otherthan the outer edge of the crust and burn time varies depending too upon what the type is, how much gel vrs. paraffin (embeds etc. ) Each type must be tested to determine the sizing, hope this helps. Hth Wendy
